A Lucky Charm? Upside Down Pie

Park Place RV Park

On Tuesday, Feb. 10th it was almost 8 o'clock when I dragged out of bed. I had a bit of a disoriented sleep but can only blame it on feeling too warm. We had windows open all night but after something woke me at 2, our little love bug decided to cuddle between my window and I. 💖

Good morning!

I'll never openly complain about his closeness, one day he will not be there, but it sure meant that I didn't want to get up at my usual 7 o'clock. 😂 We were helping out today so after breakfast, Bill and Gibbs did their park tour on the golf cart. I think Gibbs has the hang of it now.

From my window, I can keep an
eye on what Bill is UP to.
Cleaning the solar panels today,
they needed it badly.

I walked over at 9 and opened up the doors in the clubhouse and logged on to the office laptop. No arrivals, one departure - oh, there they go! Once I checked them out, I saw the note from Sue to 'please roll some quarters'. The Folgers coffee container was full so I got to work.

Skimming clouds and some decent
winds.

Around 11:30, over 3/4 were rolled so I worked on the puzzle until noon hour. I took Gibbs for a short walk at 12:30, after lunch, and proceeded to bring the banana cream pie out of the fridge to cut it up for tonight's dessert. Tom and Deb had invited us and 6 others for Taco Tuesday. What a lovely idea!

The pie looked really good!
And then.........

As I was putting the pie back in the fridge, the pan tipped in my hands and 1/4 of the pie filling dropped out onto the floor, fridge and - well, you get the picture. The air was blue for a second and I decided that I didn't ruin dessert completely, we'll just have banana cream pudding instead. 😟

A bit more puzzle work after Pokeno

I cleaned things up and hurried over for Pokeno. There were 7 of us today and although I started out by buying $1.50 worth of pennies from Sue and Angie because my penny pot was very low, I ended up coming home with a full to the brim container.

Bill was outside the clubhouse trimming
the dead skin off palm tree on the left of the
picture. They look so nice neatened up.

The big joke continues that every time Bill is near me, even outside the clubhouse walls, I win. It was true today as well. My first 10 or so games were all 'no wins'.........but after he was close, I couldn't lose! No complaints here, I chose a winner, my good luck charm. 🍀

Tom and Deb put on a nice spread
of tacos and fixings for supper.
There were 10 of us so I took 2 pictures.
L to R
Melissa, Lyle, Bill, Dave, Joan, Ken, Kim
Tom, Deb and me

We closed up at 4 and joined Tom, Deb, Ken, Kim, Lyle, Melissa, Dave and Joan on site #26. Beer margaritas and snacks got us off to a good start and then all you can eat hard or soft tacos. It was a great meal. For dessert, the 'pudding', a fruit tray, chocolates and champagne. Wow! Just wonderful!

Tacos, rice, refried beans & munchies.
Melissa made up a pretty fruit plate
and my re-created banana cream pudding.
It included the crushed almond crust and tasted
pretty good after all!

At 7:30, it had cooled down enough that we went our separate ways for the evening. We have a free day tomorrow, at least not on duty, so look forward to that. Exciting things on the horizon. Stay tuned!

We reached 81F/24C this afternoon under partly cloudy skies and another warm night of 61F/16C so windows open again.

Lyle and Melissa brought
champagne for a toast.
It was a lovely gathering.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by on this great day!

  1. Good save on the pie/pudding!!( my favorite ) Sounds like the perfect end to the tacos. Rolling quarters was my least favorite chore—so much so that I thought it inhumane to share the responsibility. Patti

  2. Well done with the pudding. I would have cried (after turning the air blue). A shared dinner is always a great meal, for the food and the company
Looking forward to hearing about the exciting things.
