Even Colder! Still a Great Day.

On Monday, Sept. 2^nd, we celebrated Labour Day the best way we knew how. We didn’t work. 😊 It was like a NO Labour day for us, just the way we like it. Funny thing is that we all slept in until 7:00. I woke up a few minutes before, felt Gibbs in between Bill and I, as snug as he could be. He would roll one way and then the other, on his back with his feet pushing against us. ♥

Bill had planned to go flying this morning after yesterday being a write off because of weather so got up, washed and dressed fairly quickly. It is garbage day here so I gathered the refuse and walked the bag down to the road. He left around 8:15. He had bumped the furnace on for a couple of cycles and that was necessary since it was only 8C/47F outside. Brrr. That’s just too cold, too early, we’re not ready for those temperatures.

when it was too windy to fly at 13 mph.

I played my games while drinking my tea, sitting with the little bum, and then hopped in the shower. After that, I dusted and vacuumed, chasing Gibbs around the Suite unintentionally. 😊 It was after I was done with the Dirt Devil that I reached up in the cupboard to get my coffee grinder when I noticed Black Beauty was sitting back at the Hangar. ??? Bill was starting a fire down there in his pit. I (nor Gibbs) never heard him return.

We had lunch of bacon and eggs and then Bill went to the Hangar and I went upstairs to the bedroom. Since purging, I noticed that I had a lot of clothing items doubled up on the hangers so had ordered clips that fit over a hanger so you can hang things down, rather than across the bar. Saving a bit of space and I could spread things out. Anyway, hard to explain but maybe the pictures will tell the story. I am very pleased with the outcome.

For the rest of the afternoon, I went from shorts to jeans back to shorts again in the course of 2 hours. Kim and I moved our chairs to the south side of the Suite where the gusty winds could not reach us. The temperature, in the sun, went up about 10 degrees! It was the perfect solution. We only reached a high of 16C/61F but it felt much cooler than that in the shade and the wind. Rob and Pat joined the 4 of us around 3 for a fun Happy Hour.

The pooches played some, slept some and sat on some laps during the whole time. They were very good. Bill had brought some muffins home from Tim Horton’s so we shared those with some adult beverages. 😊 Rob, Pat and Bella went home shortly after 5 and we sat for another half hour until Kim and I got chilled enough to call it a night. Bill said his goodbyes since he will be up and gone before they are up in the morning, their departure day.

For supper, he grilled sausages and I cooked corn on the cob indoors. He had his on a bun and mine was just on my plate. It was all filling, the corn tonight was so-so, not the best batch I’ve had but still good enough.

Gibbs and I hung tight inside for the evening and Bill did some cleanup down the hill and brough BB up to her spot This was a cooler day than we like but we still enjoyed each other’s company for one last day this season. ♥

The Horses Win! Cool, Windy Day

On Wednesday, Feb. 7^th we were all up around 7:15. Bill and Gibbs were out earlier but I never heard a thing. Not Momma’s boy anymore, Gibbs stayed downstairs with his papa. Little turncoat! ☹ Ha ha. It was another windy, windy day, each day providing us with cause to be watchful of our gazebo. At least no rain was in today’s forecast but it was 50F/10C this morning, feeling like about 43F/6C!

Gibbs and I walked and we walked fairly fast, even running along the back forty to get warm and to get home faster. Oh, I guess that was my idea not his. ♥ Bill wasn’t going anywhere today so after my tea and playing my games, I left the boys at home and walked over to tackle the puzzle. The other ladies were working on it so I joined in until noon hour. It was coming along quite nicely and I knew we would not be moving it to the other table. Yes!

For lunch, Bill and I had turkey sandwiches and they were good! There is enough for a couple more nights of suppers. While they dozed, I went back over and carried on at the puzzle. Susan joined in when she could and by 4 pm, the last piece fell into place. 😊 I know I almost gave up early on but was glad that we stuck it out to finish it. I don’t care to see it on any table of mine again! LOL The next one I’ve chosen, should be easier with lines in the picture to follow. You’ll see.

Back home, I dug up Gibbs' bone
and brought it inside for him. He buried it
a few times, clumsily, and found it, buried it etc. 
Finally, we noticed he bit it in half and ate it all up. 
Here, you can see it took precendence over poor Stuffy.

Back home, Bill and I each had a cup of tea and then Gibbs and I journeyed around the park in the cold wind. Brrr. We did actually reach 60F/16C and the sun was warm but it sure didn’t feel like that with the winds.

For supper, Bill cooked himself fries, I reheated the last of the spaghetti with garlic knots for me and he had a hot turkey sandwich with gravy. Still more turkey for another night and we emptied a dish from the fridge. 😊

This has been a good day. Nothing too exciting but getting that horse puzzle done was a bonus! I kept an eye on the east sky tonight but after the sun dropped, there was nothing special to take a picture of. Besides, running outside was not something I wanted to do tonight. Finding a movie on tv was definitely IN the agenda for the evening though.

A Cool Start to the Week, Making Room for Christmas, Family Birthday

On Monday, Dec. 12^th, our 3^rd oldest grandson, Braeden, was turning 21. I’m sure he is enjoying himself on this special birthday back home and we wish this handsome young man Happy Birthday!

We were up by 7:30 and following our normal routine.  Gibbs and I got our walks out of the way, it was 43F/6C but I felt cool so dressed warm. The high today was only going to reach 57F/14C and a low of 37F/3C tonight so we’ll just roll with the punches until it returns to warmer days. 😊

We were expecting deliveries today, a few of them, by FedEx and UPS so one of us needed to stick around home. My mornings aren’t necessarily important to be at the puzzle so I was quite happy to stay home while Bill went flying. After he returned home, and no drop off yet, we had lunch and then I went to the clubhouse at 12:30.

Patty teased me yesterday about finishing the puzzle so she could remove the orange tablecloth (Thanksgiving/Hallowe’en) and put on the Christmas one. I knew I wouldn’t be done anytime soon so I took advantage of being over there alone (the office is closed between 12 – 1) and moved the puzzle onto a sheet of Bristol board and the pieces into the box lids. Making room for Christmas. 💕

When she came in, she was so tickled that I did that and we decorated the table appropriately for the season. The funny thing is that on the black background and with the pieces separated out into colours in the lids, it made it much easier for me to work at it. I accomplished a lot, including finding that last border piece! 😊

At home, I had a cup of tea, it was cloudy, windy and felt quite cool without a jacket. We watched a movie, some Highway to Hell episodes and then had supper. Tonight, instead of the planned steak dinner, we had mac & cheese with wieners. It was filling and we both enjoyed the simplicity of the whole thing. We were finished and ready to watch The Voice – Finale – Part 1 at 6 pm.

Starting Ladies Poker Pool! A Cooler Day

I woke up once in the wee hour of the morning of Thursday, Dec. 8^th. The thing that I thought of was about the game I was introducing today. I can’t completely say I was ‘nervous’ but I wondered if there would be any interested ladies, who wanted to learn a new game. 😊 Patty was excited about it and had been spreading the work at morning coffee and Pokeno so our fingers were crossed.

First thing I did when we got up was to hop in the shower. My hair was wet so I had to dry it in order to accompany Gibbs on our short walk. Bill left for the flying field soon after and we saw him go by on the highway just after we cut across behind the park on the gravel path. I made my tea at home instead of going for my own walk and ran through the rules and instructions for Poker Pool. At 9:15, I walked over to the clubhouse to get things ready.

There were 4 ladies for the first game, myself included, and everyone took to the game as I’d hoped. None of us knew much about playing pool/billiards and other than Patty, none of us were very good.

After one game, a 5^th player joined us and we played another, much quicker one. I lost badly but I had fun and felt quite proud when the ladies said ‘see you next Thursday morning!’ 😊

I noticed Black Beauty was at our site so I walked back home for lunch. Bill was happy for me and that the game was a success. We had some lunch and then took a drive to town to tour Tyson Wells. We found a few things but there are sure a lot of vendors missing again this year. Maybe more will arrive for January (I hope) but as it is, it is kind of sad.

Aaaannnnddd, the diesel prices have dropped again

When we returned home, we chatted with Patty in the office and booked our site for next year. I went back over to the puzzle after lunch and finally feel like I’m getting somewhere with it. When I came home, I felt chilled, so took my blanket upstairs and watched a movie with Gibbs and Bill. The day didn’t get too warm even though the sky was clear and sunny.

We’d turned our power off for the day to capture some of the free rays but as for heat, we barely reached 63F/16C with that wind. We’ve got a few cold nights and some cool days coming over the next week but each day looks like full sun. I won’t complain too loudly since back home the temperatures are cut in half. 😊 We are grateful for our choices.

For supper, Bill grilled sausages on buns and that was quite tasty and filling. We had a quiet evening watching whatever we could find on the boob tube. This was a fun day and I’ve started a trend in our park. Yay! ♥

A Cool Start and a Sunny End, Time to Vote!

On Thursday, June 2^nd there were a few things going on to keep the day from getting boring. Well, at least the afternoon. This morning started with Gibbs and I going for our walk. It was cool, bordering on cold at 6C/43F. There wasn’t a lot of sun to brag about but we might see more later. It was a nice walk.

Bill didn’t have to drive to work today, Billy picked him up since he goes through Durham to their next job site in Owen Sound. 😉 That’s nice, saving a bit of $$ and I have Ptooties today. After my tea, Gibbs and I played our Wordle games and then I read for a bit. It’s a James Patterson book called Cross My Heart and of course, I was hooked after the first chapter. I really like his Alex Cross stories.

At 11:40, Gibbs and I drove into Durham Vet for the little guy’s appointment. His heart work test, his rabies shot, weigh-in and to pick up his ♥gard and flea and tick meds. He has dropped a couple of pounds since his last weight check but it’s nothing to worry about. She said he was such a good boy. No news to us, we already know that! He loves everyone!

It took longer than I thought, they were backed up a bit, so I didn’t get home until 1 o’clock. I’d planned on working for M again, for another 3 hours but didn’t get there until 1:30 after I’d had my lunch. 

The good news is that M was able to clear up the ‘back pay’ issue he had and now I’m paid right up to date, including today’s hours. Yay! My back account will be happy again, it is looking pretty sad. I worked steady on the truck and have one side completely sanded.

I thought my arms might be sore or draggy today but I’m in better shape than I thought, apparently! 😊 I can say that, they’re my arms. Ha ha. I left with a pocketful of cash at 4:30 and drove home, 15 minutes after Billy dropped Bill off so we timed that pretty good. He’ll be going back to the same work place tomorrow and part of next week so the vehicles will only move if I take them. Speaking of vehicles, I called to make an appointment for Ptooties oil change today.

I had my tea at home, wasn’t as dirty so didn’t need a shower this time upon my return. Today, is the Ontario Provincial Election day so we decided to go before supper. Instead of being able to vote down Baptist Church Road which we’ve done before, we had to drive to Flesherton which is to the east about 19 km. The sun had come out late this afternoon so Bill suggested hopping on Jazz. Was it warm enough for me? Yes!

It was 19C/66F and not too windy so that’s how we went. I put my long johns on under my jeans instead of my chaps and we were warm enough for the 15-minute drive there and back. I’m glad we are hopping on more and more, we want to get our use out of the motorcycle this summer.

I had pork chops out for grilling with leftover potatoes and a vegetable BUT it was 6:30 when we got back and grilled hot dogs just sounded faster, better and easier tonight. 😊
