Laundry and Gibbs Gets Groomed

Park Place RV Park

On Sunday, Feb. 16th we were up at 6:30 to start sorting dirty clothes. Gibbs was up on the bed, watching, since we wouldn’t let him help. He doesn’t understand the whole colour thing. 😊 Another week of less laundry, the warm weather helps with that. We still loaded 2 machines.

Good morning!

When Bill left for the field, mainly to finish putting away the flags, signs and tape, I kept an eye on my timer as I finished up with the clothes. Then, after a bit of a stretch and rest, Gibbs and I went for our walk. It was around 9:30 by the time I finished up and my leg was finally starting to ease a bit. It’s the numbness that becomes a nuisance so I’m glad it doesn’t last too long.

The day had hardly begun and I'd already
witnessed beauty

We sat outside together, Gibbs and I, and were visited by Irma. Of course, Gibbs had to show her his blankie again. She is very patient with his excitement and he eventually settles down as we chat. She suggested one more easy stretch to add to my list and she left for her walk when Bill returned just before 11. Gibbs had his grooming appointment at 11:30 and we arrived at Animal House with a few minutes to spare. They were busy today!

I brushed Gibbs before we left and removed
a lot of hair!
He loved it.

It was a lovely morning to sit outside

We stopped for Bill’s bread at Roadrunner grocery and he went in to pick what he wanted. At home, we had bacon and eggs, inspired by my conversation with Irma. 😊 We enjoy them but don’t have them very often. I remember the days we started keto and ate them every morning BEFORE work at 7:30!

A hearty lunch

After cleanup, we just hung tight waiting for the call to pick our ‘new’ little boy. He always looks like a different pooch after a cut. With the warmer weather, he will appreciate it. Gibbs heard the truck as we pulled up to the small trailer that is their business venue. We heard him barking immediately. Jennifer does a good job although today we noticed his hair around his mouth was longer than usual. So, I got the scissors out and trimmed it up.

Gibbs is all cleaned up for the heat
It tired him right out.

We sat together for a while, all 3 of us, and around 2:30, I put my book away and walked over to the puzzle. Karen had started one last night so the border was done. She was working out of the box, rather than putting the pieces out on the table. I just can’t do that, such a waste of time, moving pieces around in a box looking for a colour………so, first I emptied the box and turned the pieces over.

The puzzle is certainly easier than the last one.
So far!

At 4, I came home and took Gibbs for a walk. He wasn’t much up for walking, did his business, and then made a decision to return home. 😊 Probably because Daddy was outside working. I made a tea and we enjoyed some time in the gazebo, making tentative plans for our remaining days here in Arizona.

We had a lot of clouds today but it was
still a lovely warm day.

Supper, was sausages on a bun and because we’d run out of propane for the bbq, so I cooked them in Rosy. They were loaded and very good. After supper, we watched about 15 minutes of the SNL 50 year special. That was enough and we turned it off. We never watched the real program years ago so maybe that was the problem. It was stupid and not worth our time tonight.

A filling meal to end the day
Good night!

I switched a movie on and the evening went by quietly. The movie is called The Sun is Also a Star, cute story. (so far) We reached a mild 73F/23C today and the winds were calm. It was a nice change. 😊 I’ve enjoyed this day, I hope you can say the same.

Thank you for the visit.

The Night Before Christmas…………….Is Gibbs Happy?

Park Place RV Park

On Tuesday, Dec. 24th it was mild when we woke up – in comparison to what some of our mornings have been earlier this month. I was out the door at 7:20 for my walk. There is something refreshing about being up and out as soon as daylight begins its ascent. It is quiet, not too many vehicles on the road yet and with my music playing in one ear bud, my singing is not heard by anyone. 😊 I break the silence on occasion!

Good morning!

Back at the Suite, the boys left for their morning flights. I had a couple of morning jobs to do before I could relax for the day. When we worked regularly at our fulltime jobs, I would often try to imagine days like this. ‘What will it be like when we retire?’ I never imagined it quite like this. With us still working through the summer, parttime, even that makes these winter months feel darn special.

I have chores, if I wanted to do them today or they could wait until tomorrow. Grabbing a book whenever I felt like curling up in a chair, stretching out on the bed for a nap or just sitting in the sun, quietly, when it graced our patio. Walking Gibbs, long or short, when we felt like it. It is a pretty nice feeling and it would/will be the same when the day comes that we no longer travel. Retirement is great!

With our Christmas potluck tomorrow, I wanted to make the dessert portion of my offering this morning. It didn’t take long and the ‘no baking required’ option is what I love about this choice. Peanut Butter Butterscotch Confetti Squares. Yum. They are very sweet so once they were cooled, I cut them small and put them on my newly acquired Christmas platter. I'll try and remember a picture for tomorrow's post.😊

I know, I know! I broke my cardinal rule!!
But it's a crazy one.

The sky clouded over but it was still pretty

Then Gibbs and I went for his walk around the outside perimeter of the park. He trots along pretty good, visiting his favourite sniffing spots, lifting his leg to reclaim a territory AGAIN and then bringing me home. Bill was home soon after and he had picked up my last gift parcel from Moon Mountain mail. It happens to be his gift so I’m glad it was in a non-descript Amazon box. I did tell them it was a gift so I wasn’t concerned.

Gibbs was very good at Happy Hour,
he had his new stocking toy from Aunt Nancy.

I also vacuumed the Suite and wiped down the kitchen and bathroom cupboard fronts. All ready for Christmas! While he was outside, I wrapped it and laid it under the tree. No more room for anymore! 😊

Happy Christmas Eve Hour!
Do you think there are visions of
sugar plums dancing in their heads?

We had lunch together and then because stores are closed tomorrow, they’d better be!, Bill drove me to DG Market for milk, bread and cold meat. That will get us through until after Christmas when we’ll do a bigger shop with our friends. Bill has a bit of a head cold so took some Tylenol Cold & Sinus and/or Ivermectin before bed last night and then this morning. The latter med is new to us so we’ll play it by ear and see which he finds the most relief from.

Gibbs loves this position during H.H.
He can be with us but keep an eye on the hosts
behind us too.

He felt better this afternoon, hard to keep a good man down! I don’t feel yet that it has tried to jump to me but, hey, who knows? We share many things in this space. For supper, we had Italian meatballs (big ones) with fries. I cooked the balls in Rosy, my Air Fryer. I had just a few fries for taste and a couple of pieces of  pepper/acorn squash. Yum, everything was very good. After clean up, Bill went up to watch a movie with Gibbs. I worked on my blog, book and tv downstairs.

On our afternoon/before supper walk,
the east mountains were pink

The sky overhead and to the west
was strange but beautiful

I must say that I enjoy reading your comments on my daily posts. It is lovely to know you follow along. Sometimes, though, I must question things and was surprised to read that a commenter does not think Gibbs is happy. That was implied. It made me wonder if more of you think that we are not giving him the attention he needs? Are we not good puppy parents?

And it got even prettier as we walked

We’ve had the little guy since he was 7 weeks old and feel we know him better than anyone, so the idea that we don’t spend enough time with him, ignore him, while we do our own things, stunned both of us. He gets a LOT of attention, love, cuddles and play time. Walks, lap sits and treats. He quietly accepts the role of the house when we go out and can’t wait to get into position for his treat as we walk out the door.

More pink sky and clouds to the east

When we leave for any length of time, we put into play a very reliable sitter to check on him and take him out when necessary. He can never get enough attention from us and would probably love nothing better than to sit with us for every hour of every day. What loving pooch wouldn’t? If you are regular readers of my blog, you should know our routines, when we’re home and when we’re not. ??

Just lovely tonight

I guess it hurt and frustrated us to read the comment. Just know that we love Gibbs with all our hearts, he is not ignored, not deprived and anyone who knows and sees us with him can see that. People in the park have commented that he is the happiest little dog ever. 💖 Bill and I agree. Rant over!

Supper was good. That squash! Oh my!

This has been a wonderful day. I worked on the puzzle this afternoon and finally began making some headway. No, the border is not done so I’m going out of order. Woops! We had Happy Hour with Patty and Duncan in the gazebo, our Christmas eve drink together. 😊

Are you talking about me, Mom?

Lastly, just a saying I heard this morning on my walk, although I’ve changed it a bit: “Remember to unwrap each day slowly and carefully, taking joy in each layer, as this is a gift you will not duplicate again.”

Changing it Up, Gibbs Gets Ready Too

The Ridge

On Monday, Oct. 7th Bill was up with Gibbs at 6 when the alarm went off. No, he doesn’t have to go to work but he has a day out with one of his flying friends. They are going to a hobby store or two in Mississauga and the area. 😊 They will have an enjoyable day, I’m sure. I got up around 7:15 and Bill had the furnace running to take the chill off. I like that – a lot.

Good morning!
At our corner, the clouds
were looking pretty heavy.

Bill left at 7:30, taking our last garbage bags and recycle bins to the road for this year. I left soon after, dropping a few birthday cards in the mail box and then heading on to Durham to clean. My days are dropping off too. There was one customer inside but he was in the dark. The door was unlocked but the breaker switch had been turned off. ??? The guy was not concerned and was doing his laundry anyway.

At the highway corner, the sun
was making a valiant effort to push through.

I saved the day; we joked about the power I have! 😊 One other customer came in when I was close to finishing and I left her alone around 9. It was a cool morning and wet, light rain and clouds all around us. The dampness alone makes it feel quite chilly so I may be inside most of this day. It is also why the guys chose today for their trip, can’t work outside anyway.

I love this picture, coming back from town
on Baptist Church Road.

I sat inside with Gibbs until 11:15 when we hopped in B.B. and drove to town again. Gibbs had an appointment for his grooming. He’s so ready, his ‘eyebrows’ are almost covering his bright eyes. He’ll be so happy when he’s done! I returned home to an empty home and I never hope to get used to that. I love my boys being here. Coming up the lane with BB, I stopped and picked up some of the bulky logs from the trees and dropped them in the brush pile.

The big 'O' tree has a bit of colour.
Looks like it might need trimming again soon.

You know it is almost time to leave when appointments for dental work are made with Dr. Eva Urena in Mexico. 😊 We know when we’ll be in that area so I called and booked them this morning. Both of us get cleanings and this fall, Bill needs a crown. I think we can afford the $380 cost. We don’t have an insurance plan for dental or optical/eyewear so going to Los Algodones is a bonus for us.

Here is Mr. Gibbs after his hair cut.
All sleek and handsome.

Posing as usual.

I made my bullet proof coffee and found something to nibble on for lunch. I wasn’t too hungry since I had yogourt and Rice Krispies earlier. At 1:00, I went back to get our new little boy. We have set up a bank account for Gibbs, so although it is expensive to get him groomed, besides being worth it, he pays for his own appointments! Such a handsome little guy again and the best part is that he can see clearly again! ðŸ˜Š

A pretty picture but oh, that wind is cold!
These flags and poles will come down before we leave.

Bill was home from his day trip around 2:30 and had a snack for his lunch too. It just didn’t fit into their plans for one reason or another. Mainly, location. He went out then and started bringing the solar lights from the buildings down and then he decided to cut the small tree down from out front. While he moved the 4 snow tires for Ptooties from the shelter into the Bunky, I gathered and dragged the tree that he just cut to the brush pile.

Down she goes.
It used to be a nice tree but
this Service Berry tree is useless now.

We also moved the shelving from the shelter (where the bike and Cub Cadet live for the summer) into the Bunky. With that all done, it was after 5 when we stopped and came inside. It was really getting chilly now, especially when we stop. I made my tea, even though late, and then we had fish and chips for supper with dump cake/pudding for dessert. We cleaned up dishes, ran the dishwasher and settled for the evening.

Bill is getting pretty handy with that chain saw!

This was a good day, one step further to departure. We reached 13C/55F, so if it wasn’t for the sunshine, I probably would have huddled indoors. 😊

Supper was good.
The roasted tomatoes are from Billy's mom.
I have a baggie to eat up and this is a great way!
We have more fish to eat up before
we leave. It is not allowed.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

Warmer Day, Change of Hobby, Happy Gibbs, News!

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Dec. 17th  I noticed that it was a warmer morning. The temperature of 42F/6C wasn’t the tell all, really, it was mainly because there were no winds. Gibbs and I headed out for our walk and 15 minutes later, I left him at home with Daddy. Bill and Gibbs both had a rough night, someone had an upset tummy, so I let him sleep him. 😊

The sky was clear blue
Saguaros are still near by
Palm trees are at Arizona Sun RV Park behind us

I got as close to the fence, top pix, without touching it
(in case it was alarmed) but love all these birdhouses!
Bottom pix, those are quite the stairs to the roof patio

I left Bill in the shower and headed out for my walk around the residential area and then the block of rv parks. Bill decided, after sleeping in, that he wouldn’t go flying and after our drinks and cereal, he got out one of the models he bought in Hobby Lobby last month. That was the encouragement I needed and I got out my Afghan from under the bed and reacquainted myself with those stitches. This is my winter project and it is close to being finished.

See my helper?

The morning was gone in a flash and at noon, I made us bacon and eggs for a change. After working on the puzzle in the clubhouse for a couple of hours, I returned home for a cup of tea and more crocheting. I was toasty warm in the sun, working on the blanket and I even had a helper! He spent his time between the bed upstairs with Daddy and on the couch with me.

The fence is almost done

At 4, Gibbs and I went for our afternoon walk. It still wasn’t too windy but the air isn’t as warm as I’d like yet, so I wore my down jacket.

The clouds were moving in

Gibbs was in a playful mood and at the dog park, he ran and played like I haven’t seen since being on the Ridge. He usually just sniffs and walks around. Today, we chased each other and it was a joy to see.

He was curious about the palm frond

Then he ran, and ran and ran

For supper we had air fried chicken thighs, a boiled potato between us, pepper squash for me and corn for Bill. It was delicious! We didn’t need dessert. After clean up, we watched a Christmas movie while I worked on my blog. For the record, you need to know that after 15 minutes of the Muppet movie last night, we switched to something else. It wasn’t anywhere near our cup of tea.

This is my favourite
Look at our happy boy! 💗

It was a perfect supper for a cool night

The evening was quiet, but there is some news we want to share. Do you remember November 2021 when Bill and I attended his 3rd daughter’s wedding before crossing the border on Nov. 8th? We have recently learned that we are now expecting our 12th grandchild! This is such a lovely surprise! Boy or girl, there will be a little farmer arriving in June. This is Krystal’s FB announcement. Says it all.

Congratulations Krystal and Matt
and to us grandparents! 💓
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

My Plans Changed, Guests Arrive, Gibbs’ Makeover

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Aug. 2nd we woke up to light drizzly rain. It actually felt cool when I woke up and reached down to pull the duvet up before 5 o’clock. That meant Gibbs got covered and he squirmed his way up and out. I was sure he was shivering but maybe not. 😊

At the Mat, this is the second
assault on the new sign post
Not me though! I use my mirrors. 😂

Bill got up at 6:00 and took him out. I rolled over and tried to return to slumber. I say tried because I knew I needed to get a move on within half hour or so to get to the Mat. It was actually 6:45 when I crawled out, made the bed and got ready for my day. Bill was working in Durham this week so was taking Black Beauty. I left first in Ptooties. The Mat was empty when I arrived and remained that way for the whole time.

Not a fun mess to clean up
but not terrible either
Did you think 'swan' when you first glanced at it?

My plan was to work for my hour, stop to fill our water jug and head home. I’d spend an hour with Gibbs and head over to M’s for 9:30. When I discovered two machines with new ‘do not use’ signs, I had to test them. One was clearly in need of repair but the other one was a matter of customer patience. They’d put their ‘large’ amount of soap in, plus their $4 but couldn’t figure how to close the door.

Star of the day

Take a good look
Now you see him

So, since there was no one needing a washer within the first half hour, I started it rather than leave it. By the time I finished cleaning, dusting and washing the floors, the machine was done. Woops! Looking in through the window, it was white, filled with soap suds. Oh no! I knew someone would open it and not bother to clean it up. I phoned M and told him I would be busy there for a while and wouldn’t be in to work after all. He was fine with it.

A different little pooch
Can you pose for Mom?

Are you showing off your new do?

There he is, what a handsome little guy!!💗

By the time I got it all mopped up, I’d been there for over an hour and a half and didn’t get home until 9:20. I’m so glad for the decision I made. I hadn’t eaten earlier so had some cereal with my coffee. At 12:30, I drove Gibbs back into town and dropped him off at Kate’s Bath and Biscuit for his groom, er, his makeover. 😊 I was back home by 1:30 and Duncan pulled in with their Airstream before 2. He set it up, unhooked and went back in to pick Patty up from the laundromat.

Patty was truly a happy camper to be able
to hang her clothes on my linie

The day was going by quickly with back and forth trips to Durham and at 3, I repeated the process to pick up our handsome little guy. When I returned, our company wasn’t far behind. Patty was very excited to be able to hang their laundry on my clothes line. She loves the outdoor freshness of drying clothes on a line. 😉 I was happy to oblige when she asked.

Happy Hour was on the gravel at their site
where we got more sun

The gin and tonic went down smoothly

The boys have lots to discuss

We had Happy Hour together, moving over to the sunny side of the lot while they cooked yet another supper for us. My, we are getting spoiled! We ate at our Suite and although I forgot pictures, the hot dogs, local corn on the cob, Cinnabons and ice cream were all delicious. We didn’t contribute much but the ice cream came from our freezer, just a wee scoop each. Boy, were we stuffed!

Duncan was grilling the dogs
They were sooo good!

This local corn (Windsor) was so sweet and tender
Thank you Duncan and Patty for spoiling us again!

Bill loaded the dishes in the dishwasher and we all enjoyed watching ‘home movies’ that weren’t exactly home movies. They were interested so Bill showed them some of our still pictures from a few trips to Arizona on our tv screen. That was fun to see them again and he went so far as to run through the remodeling of our London home. I haven’t seen those for a very long time and it is great to have them.

Gibbs being a good boy while we ate
Between snoozing, drinking and humping our pillow,
he kept himself out of trouble

D & P wandered next door around 9:30 and it was soon bed time. Bill and Gibbs went up first to watch tv while I tried valiantly to finish my blog. I was simply too tired so will finalize it in the morning. This has been a busy but awesome day. I do have to work at M’s tomorrow so will say goodbye early.

The evening ended watching Bill's pictures
on the tv
Notice Gibbs snuggled in beside Patty? 💓💓
Good night!

Thank you for your visit!
