We’ve Been Waiting for This – Silly Al’s!

On Tuesday, Dec. 3^rd we were up by 7 and I was faithful to my walking program again. It’s pretty much become a routine since I started on Nov. 4^th. 😊 Yesterday, my ear buds were dead, so I had to listen to Sirius with my phone in my pocket and the volume up a bit. This morning, they were fully charged so I popped one in and bee-bopped all the way to Christmas music.

I’m not keen on the artists when they change up a classic Christmas carol. Actually, it drives me nuts! Mariah, don’t change Silent Night and no one should touch Little Drummer Boy!! Ever!! Go write your own! I feel better getting that off my chest. 😊 After my walk, I made my tea and the boys left for the flying field. When my tea was finished, Gibbs and I went around the block before returning to the Suite.

It was 47F/8C when I headed out and by 9:30 it had warmed up nicely to 50F/10C. With full on sunshine, it felt warm enough for shorts so I changed to fit the weather. At 10, it was time to pay attention to the puzzle. I wasn’t pleased with my progress so far; it seemed to be taking forever to get just a few pieces in. When I left at 11:45, I was happy. I got a lot of pieces in today, so took the picture.

Bill and I had our meat, lettuce and cheese sandwiches and I’ve decided not to buy the keto bread in Quartzsite again. Not unless they change brands. The crust is not pleasant tasting at all so, like a child, I stripped it off. We’ll get to Walmart this week and I’ll get the good stuff. I hope. Patty and I went for a walk around 1:30 and added to our step count and then we all gathered in the gazebo for Happy Hour.

Ken and Kim arrived around 3ish and we passed the time quickly until 4. The plan was to head to Silly Al’s, another first experience for us this winter and a first experience for Patty and Duncan. I wasn’t worried about their reactions, no one leaves S. A’s disappointed. ♥ Bill and I ordered our small pizzas, his the Hawaiian and mine the Meat Lovers with added green olives. I know that part won’t surprise my readers. 😊

Oh, I love this pizza!

Back home, I moved my leftover pizza into a smaller size container and walked the box over to the garbage. It was then that I noticed how warm the evening was. It was 6 o’clock and still 68F/20C. Lovely evening and so was the sky in the west. Inside, Bill found a movie and I listened to more Christmas music while working on my blog.

Now that right there is a happy group!

BTW, Country Christmas is the best one for the classic tunes as they were meant to be sung but I can only get it on my phone app. This has been a wonderful day. I have something new planned for tomorrow so come back, if you can! It was warm today at 77F/25C, we loved it!

Working on Trip Plans, Hot Afternoon, Silly Al’s Once More ♥

La Paz Valley, Az

On Monday, Apr. 4^th Gibbs had Bill up at 6 but then we all went back to sleep until 7. Good boy! I know it was a sleep full of dreams for me so I welcomed staying in bed until close to 7:30. Blue sky, no clouds today and a slight breeze. Perfect! 😊 Gibbs was up for a longer walk today so we followed our noses, basically, for about 20 minutes. I’ve decided that 63F/17C is a good walking temperature.

I made a tea and attempted to sit outside with Gibbs while I drank it. LOL, the flies are crazy! We think we’ve determined why. We have a puppy who piddles all around the mat and sometimes dribbles ON the mat so they are likely attracted to that scent. ☹ Unfortunately, it has gotten worse making sitting out very uncomfortable even for short periods. We came indoors.

We walked a little further today, which was nice

At 10, we drove over to La Posa South for a quick sit down with Gayle and John. We move on tomorrow, they don’t, and we want to have a trip route planned at least for a few days before we all leave on the 10^th. Gayle and Bill are the main navigators but John and I are listening and agreeing with the decisions. We have a ‘tentative’ plan in place for the first few days when we all leave on the 10^th.

We, well, someone, had a little snooze upstairs

We returned home and I tried once more to sit out in my lounger. I stayed long enough to finish The Secret Garden and then moved in for lunch. I have to say that I was disappointed in the ending of this book and really wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It read slow, quite a bit of detail where it wasn’t necessary and at the end, after solving the mystery, it went on for another whole chapter of unnecessary confusion. Anyway, I initialed in the front cover and will drop it off at the next clubhouse.

Trying to get as much of the fresh air as possible

The temperature reached 88F/31C today. We’ve been hotter but not out in the desert with no hookups. I give my sister and her hubby a lot of credit for sticking it out in this heat. I feel hot enough myself but can’t help but think of our little furry kid. Bill put the tv on for a couple of hours this afternoon at the same time as running the dishwasher. The batteries didn’t budge. 😊

I would have liked to have been outside but instead went upstairs with my next book and lay at the window. The breeze was coming from the northwest today. At 4:15, we pulled blinds and left all but one window open and drove back to La Posa South. John was driving us all into Silly Al’s for one last pizza fix. I could do it once a week, because they are so good and also because back home, we seldom have pizza.

We walked right in and got a good table. The place was packed, at least to the point where people would leave and others would arrive, in and out, for the whole time we were there. Good food! Bill ordered a small Hawaiian and I ordered a small meat lovers. We also had a treat and ordered a Pina Colada each. Yum! Our waitress was only a ‘week old veteran’ of the place and we got great service. Funny thing is, with all newbie waitresses tonight, we were in the door at 4:45, served by 5 and out the door by 6. Fastest service we've ever received. She got a nice tip.😊

She was hoppin’! As we were sitting there, we noticed Rich our Park Place neighbour . When we were done eating, Bill walked over to him and Johnnie at the bar. They leave the park tomorrow and head home, slowly, too. They are from Iowa. 

A sliver of moon tonight too

We picked up Black Beauty and hugged my sister and her hubby goodbye - for now. Back at home, Gibbs was waiting for us BUT he had found my ballpoint pen on the table. There wasn’t much left of it so we can only hope he poops it out. ☹

The beginning

It’s hot in the Suite(90F/32C) and not much cooler outside (85F/30C) and it’s 6:30. Could be a hot night for sleeping.  I sat and finished my blog with a thermos of water beside me. I’m reading James Patterson’s NYPD RED now, just starting so I hope it grabs my attention. This was an awesome day, our last here at Roadrunner BLM. I think we might see it again in the not-too-distant future.

A Different Turn of Events, Silly Al’s with Friends! Yay!

La Posa South, Quartzsite, Az On Thursday, Jan. 20th, Gibbs and I were up at our normal time and had a nice walk around the area. No, we didn’t meet any strangers who knew me (haha) but there was one couple who had to meet my handsome little walk mate. “He’s so cute!” When we returned to camp, Nancy was out so, of course, Gibbs dragged me over to her. 😊

We were saddened to learn that she wasn’t feeling great. The cold, that we are calling the ‘dust’ cold had caught up with her too. Deb has been experiencing it for a couple of days and even Bill woke up a couple of days ago with a sore throat and runny nose. Hmm, no other symptoms that made any of us suspicious. Nancy recognized this as a familiar cold that tends to slow her down for a couple of weeks so wanted to head out for her Arizona home base. That darn Jello!

Nancy isn't the only one we'll miss.

See you again, Nancy! We fully support anyone who needs to follow their head, heart and body and make their own decisions. Saddened to see her unwell and to see her leave, we wished her our best and said goodbye. By that time, Tom and Deb had also decided to pull out and move on down the road to another less busy, less dusty BLM camping area. ☹ So, this all took place around 9 am and soon, we were on our own again.

So long Tom and Deb! See you down the road! We sure hope they are all okay. With the change in numbers of us, I messaged Doug and Nick to see if they were still up for a Silly Al’s visit tonight. They were on board so yay! The remainder of the day was pretty darned lazy. I read my book outside, sitting in the warmth of the sun. Gibbs took turns inside and out and Bill watched some tv and dozed. It got quite warm but it sure felt good. We had some winds this afternoon and one huge gust around 27 mph.

Gibbs is thinking about what happened out there.

Where did our friends go, Mom? Where's Coop? Where's Tom?

Everyone is gone At 3:30, we got cleaned up and drove into Quartzsite to meet Doug and Nick at 4:30. Once we found a parking spot, never an easy endeavour, I walked in to get our name on the list. I was greeted immediately and he showed me to a small table for 4. It was pretty tiny but we made it work, it was all about the pizza. Once it was placed on the table, theirs on top, ours on the bottom, we chowed down. Oh, my goodness, it was sooo good and worth waiting two years for!

Bill’s half was Hawaiian, mine was meat lovers and they were both delicious. We brought 3 pieces home. A doggy bag that wasn’t for the doggy. When we returned home by 5:30, we were disappointed to see a 5th wheel toy hauler had pulled in not far from Nancy’s vacated spot. ☹ Oh well, you can’t control where people park but I hope their 3 dogs don’t upset our quiet days too much. I mean, with Gibbs barking at them. LOL

Doug had never been to Silly Al's and of course, Nick hadn't. I dare say that now they can say they've been to Quartzsite. :)

It's written right on their menu. "If you haven't been to Al's, you haven't been to Quartzsite" I sat to write my post and Bill watched some of Classis Cars until Ghosts came on at 7. He recorded Joe Millionaire for me since I’ve kind of got interested in that ridiculous charade. No judgement, to each his own. 😊 This was a quiet day and it would have been pretty much perfect if it wasn’t for the fact that our friends were sick and had to leave. I hope they all zip through whatever they are feeling and are soon like new. ♥

As we drove home, the sun set to the west and the mountains to the east turned bright pink. ♥ Good night! Thank you for popping in.
