The Monster Rears its Ugly Head, B-I-N-G-0

The Birches

On Wednesday, Sept. 9th it was almost 7:30 when I got up. I wasn't last but I wasn't first. This morning we all got moving quicker than usual because we had a plan. 🀭 Not too many pictures today.

Good morning!
This is where we decided to go for breakfast

After we were all ready, it was 9:30 when we left the house for breakfast. Eating breakfast early meant we would be hungry in the middle of the afternoon. We really wanted to find some thrift stores today, if possible.

My eggs benedict was delicious
with peameal ham

So, we'd heard yesterday that The Lighthouse restaurant put on a good breakfast. That was our destination this morning. I had an Eggs Benedict with home fries and it was all quite yummy. We enjoyed the young families with wee babes in the restaurant. πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ά

Our supper place

We returned home and just relaxed until 2:15. Unfortunately, my sciatica has reared its ugly head again so I did some stretches and blocking before we headed out again. A low key day means we have a lot of discussions about past Ladyfests.

We were hoping to find a couple of thrift stores in Port Elgin but they didn't satisfy the shopping needs like they usually do. Oh well, win some, lose some. The day was warm but filled with rain showers off and on each time we'd pop in and out of stores. None of us melted!

Crab cakes and caesar salad

Supper was back at Allan's Fireside Grill where I'd planned to have their quesadilla. Unfortunately, the ovens were not working so a few of us ordered crab cakes and I had a caesar salad on the side. It was all very good! Across the street was the Legion and we walked across to play some Bingo!!

BINGO!
(well, not on this card)
🀭🀣

Well, for the first time, other than me with no luck at all, we had great fun. Cathy had to teach us all the basics and I'm sure that was a bit frustrating for her....but, we all learned and dobbed away at those cards. Now, I can say that I've played Bingo! Gayle was the big winner with a $50 jackpot.

It wasn't a full house but
close
It was a quiet group, no daggers were out!πŸ˜‚

Back home in the dark, my leg was killing me so I stretched out on the bed and called my Sweetie at home. Doing a few stretches while chatting, I got up after 15 minutes and it was like a miracle. Obviously, that was all I needed............Bill. πŸ’˜πŸ’• πŸ˜‰

I took this picture first
and then we asked a host for a group
picture.

I worked on my blog and we finally packed up and went to bed just around midnight. It was a wonderful rainy day!

Our 'photographer' told the man
beside Audrey that he was in the picture
so he had to smile too.
That made us laugh.
Good night!

Thank you for your visit.

The Week Begins

The Ridge

On Monday, Aug. 10th, we dove into a new work week. And we all know that August is going to go by in a blink just like July did. When I remember summers in my childhood, they seemed to drag on and on. Mostly because there were a few good friends that I only saw at school.

Good morning!
Still counting....
(2 more didn't open fully)

I was up at 6:45 and out the door at 7:10, before Bill. He would be leaving at 7:30, getting a ride with Billy. That is a blessing in itself, saving on fuel and Billy drives the work truck. Win, win! Speaking of fuel, Ptooties was now below 1/2 tank.

And by the woodpile
(oops my pic is upside down)
one little one.

Since the gas prices have been dropping a bit every other day (YAY), I was overjoyed that overnight, it had dropped another .04¢/litre. I paid $1.44 to fill her up. It's still ridiculous, I know, but it was just a week or so ago that we were paying $1.72.

Sometimes when I'm crafting,
Gibbs sits in Daddy's chair to be
closer to me.
His little old man position.

From there, I drove across the street to the Mat and did my cleaning. Washer #1 was still full of damp clothes, oh brother! Assuming again that it is campers who have moved on (?), I removed them, tossed them in the dryer and bagged them up.

This lunch was awesome!!
Leftover smoked sausage refried,
tomatoes, banana pepper and cheese on
a toasted English muffin.

That's over a week with no one coming back so I dropped them outside Rethreads for when they open tomorrow. I had one customer in while I was there so no hindrance but also no conversation. Oh, and no dime from Daddy today. 🀷‍♀️ First in a while.

I watered them and collected what
was ready.

Back home, Gibbs and I did the vegetable garden check and I came down the hill with another bundle of tomatoes. Pretty soon I'll be able to make a tomato soup! I'm enjoying their fresh taste though, so not complaining.

Well, I thought he was with me.
Nope, sitting in the shade, guarding.

I don't make salsa nor my own tomato sauce so eating them 'as is' or fried in my wraps works for me. It has been mostly cloudy all day but warm and warmer as the day progresses. Robin touched base, ordering a card for a girlfriend and chatted about what Bill could do this week.

So, 3 varieties of my tomatoes.
L to R
Glamour Girl (oddly shaped)
Beefsteak (🀭)
Midnight Snack Cherry
(I picked 2 of these and the taste is quite unique!)

Then, I sat at my table and prepared book marks and more cd coasters. Kay, in Chicory Common offered to put those items in her store. She really liked the idea so it's worth a shot and I will make more for over the winter.

We walked down after 3 to collect
the Canadian Tire flyer.
(to see all the things 'we don't need')

I thought more would sell at The Bookstore last winter but 2 cards and 1 bookmark just didn't make it worthwhile leaving them. It could be the same here but she wants to try. I planned meatballs for supper but wasn't sure what to do with them until just before Bill got home.

He came up the lane with Billy 1 minute after Gibbs and I got back inside from getting the mail. It was 3:30 so a bit early. They are beginning the drywall process so not fun and very time consuming. While he had a snooze with Gibbs, I started preparing rice and a pot of beans, peppers, onion. Madame IP was cooking tonight.

I misunderstood.

Surprisingly, the concoction I put together was very good! It also filled us, bonus, and leftovers for another night. We ate early so he is ready when Robin messages. We cleaned up the dishes and I worked on my blog and Bill made his lunch.

It has turned into a lovely day, the humidity seems to have vanished late this afternoon and a great breeze is coming in the windows. 25.5C/78F was our high so pretty close to perfect. We could get rain/storms overnight but it doesn't look or feel like it.
This has been a good day. Video for your viewing pleasure. πŸ˜‰
