Still Hot, Still Neglectful

The Ridge

Thursday, Aug. 6th, I was ready and out of the Suite before Bill. Billy was picking him up at 7:30 and I left at 7:05 for town. Get in and get out. Only one customer that I saw today although by 7:20, at least 2 others had washers in motion already.

Good morning!
We're not done yet,
although the early rainfall
does a number on them before
I get my picture.

The machines had stopped when I left an hour later but still no one had shown up. 🀷‍♀️ Oh well, yesterday I messaged Sandy that I was away from Sept. 6th to the 13th and he would need to have someone clean for 4 days that week. I don't know who he'll get with Ron now retired. Not my worry.

1 in the small garden
and finally another appearance
in the regular spot.

Yes, Ladyfest is booked and in motion. Since it is booked by the week, we are taking the whole week since we have to pay for it. It should be a good week with the 5 of us together. Often, we just get settled and it is time to pack up, considering the outings we take part in.

It will be here before we know it. After I got home, I went back and forth with my sisters on Messenger. We all have notes and pictures from previous years so were filling in blanks for each other and will take our printed pictures to show. It is always fun to see our hair style and clothing changes. 🀭 Fun and funny!

So, while looking for Ladyfest
pictures of yore, I came across a
few special shots that I had to send
to Bridgette.
Top left, my little Pocahantas
Top right, an old flame of mine
Bottom left, Bridgette kisses Bob,
our landlord. It took her a long time
to get used to him (the beard) so
this was special.
Bottom right: Patrick and Taylor
reading a story.

Yesterday, I didn't feel ambitious enough but today I went upstairs to the closet. Yup, purging time. I removed a number of things to store in the Bunky this winter and about 10 items to go in the clothing exchange bag. Now that I know Donna can take them for the interim, I will continue to purge.

One more collection with Bridgette.
Top: Bridgette all dressed up listening
to the Cinderella story. We had many of
the Disney classics on LP.
Left: Pocahantas Bridgette at our
family reunion. (shadow not a beard!)
Right: posing in her pony tails and bell bottoms.
Thanks for humouring me!

Time flew and when my tummy grumbled, I realized it was 12:45. I just had a toasted English muffin with grape jam for lunch. I love them and had stopped buying them for a while. It is a nice change and the Orioles are gone so I can eat their jam. πŸ˜ƒThat seemed to fill me with my coffee.

After carrying things out and into the appropriate bags, I had decided to leave the last drawer to go through until tomorrow. My neglect today was to pay attention to the temperature that was forecasted. I should have turned the a/c on as the rain had stopped by 10 and it got hot and humid again.

Our pond is almost invisible again.

I sat at my table and finished another greeting card. After selling earrings to Robin, I thought I'd made some more for Sunday's venture. It is supposed to be a nice day, so I'll take my crafts in. Bill was home by 3:30, which was nice, although they are working way too hard. HE is working way too hard.

I always liked seeing the Cattails
and still do.

Drywall, carrying it upstairs and installing it. At least they have the lift for the ceiling. He was a dirty mess so hopped in the shower first and then had a snooze. I wish he slept better at night but no matter what he does (afternoon snooze or not), he doesn't sleep well at all.

Our pond may not encourage boating
or toe dipping, but it makes for
nice pictures.
🀷‍♀️

For supper, I reheated the lasagna in the microwave. Too hot to use the oven (listen to me already!) and it took a mere 10 minutes to be hot enough for us. With our salad on the side and more watermelon, we weren't going to starve.

Today's harvest

This afternoon, I raided the garden of all the ripe tomatoes and banana peppers. I'll take a few to Robin in the morning, she has no garden. Supper was good and we cleaned up both the salad and the lasagna. I have half a watermelon to cut up so will do that tomorrow and make more room.

The lasagna was pretty dry
but it was okay for the last night.

Bill loaded the dishwasher, I washed the casserole dish, he made his lunch and went over to Dot & Gord's for the final night on the basement. It shouldn't be more than an hour and then he can decide if we wants to start on their upstairs rooms.🀷‍♀️ There is a trade off here, to be determined, so he is gung-ho.

Now, if our Durham Fall Fair
was on now, this beauty might just
win a ribbon!

This was a good day. It cooled off nicely inside around 4 and tonight should be decent for sleeping for anyone inclined to sleep. LOL, I shouldn't tease Bill, it can't be nice not being able to sleep. We reached a high of only 24.4C/76F but no breeze and high humidity.

The magenta ones are getting
quite tall but the red is my
favourite.
Gibbs agrees.
Good night!

Thank you for popping in.

A Calmer Day in the Neighbourhood, Visitors

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Mar. 13th Bill and Gibbs were up at their usual 6 o'clock. I had already been awake at 4:50 (!) for some reason and pulled the duvet up over my lower body. Silly, true, but I felt a bit cool with my window open. I know I slept well, dreaming again.

Good morning!

Bill was in the shower, having his breakfast by the time I came downstairs around 7:15. Gibbs was into the usual performance too, delving under the covers and waiting until Mom laughed. Yes, he felt he needed to wake me up. Age means nothing to him either, he loves to play.

After Bill left, I had my tea and we went for our walk around the outer block. It was already quite warm so we had closed windows and turned the a/c to come on around 72F/20C. With no obligations to go anywhere or make anything, I made a coffee around 10 and walked to the obnoxious puzzle.

A little bit more finished down the right
hand side.

This may be one of 3 that I will have started and not finished. Some people have more faith in me than I do when it comes to Van Gogh....well, I may be beaten. In an hour and a half I only put in about 5 pieces and left before noon frustrated. There is still tomorrow......we'll see.

We had lunch together and I helped Bill pour 1/2 of a 4.5 gal container of peanut oil (Bill got it at Sams Club) into individual containers. We were splitting it this summer with our friends so we can all enjoy deep frying at its best. Better than EVOO. πŸ˜‰

Our company, Lori and Roland, arrived just before 1 on their Indian bikes and we enjoyed a nice catchup visit. It was hot sitting outside under the canopy but comfortable in the shade. Gibbs had to take turns sitting on our friends, he knows them.

Thank you Bill for taking the picture
for me.
Gibbs poses as well.

Bill then went to Jim's for a while and Gibbs and I relaxed again in the cool of the Suite. We reached a high of 92F/30C today so indoors was the place to be, if possible. Supper was ribs and spuds done in Madame IP with a vegetable of sorts.

Gibbs likes to get as much
attention from his friends as
possible.
I wonder if he remembers them
as Schatzi's mom and dad?

On their way back to
Holtville Hot Springs LTVA, CA

Last night, I had made a couple of greeting cards for Stephanie and Anne Marie because I won't see them on their birthdays in the summer months. They are the only ones in our group who didn't receive a homemade card for any reason. I remedied that. I think they were both pleased. πŸ’•

The colour here is not great
but the cross is brown and the
shroud is in purple.
Anne-Marie loved it.

Stephanie is picking up her baby,
Sally, a bichon frise, this spring,
so I did my best to imitate one for her card.
She loved it also.

So, our supper of pork ribs, potatoes for Bill and salad for each of us, turned out very good. We didn't have any sauce for the ribs but gravy worked fine for tonight. We finished off with a small pie from Walmart for dessert.

The little old man pose
after I had to lift him into my chair.

Supper was good.

That's it for our day and the evening will be quiet, in front of the tv.

We say goodbye to the heat
source of the day.

But it sure makes a pretty exit.

Good night!
(the sky may get better before it's done)

Thank you for popping by!

Hot and Busy Day

 The Ridge

On Thursday, Aug. 7th I didn't have to clean the Mat but when I woke up from a dream at 6:30 and heard Bill still downstairs, I realized he was working closer to home today. Only to Hanover, 20 minutes away, so his departure time was just after 7.

Good morning!
Obviously I forgot to take pictures today!

Best laid plans of mice and men.......we've all heard that, I believe. Well, at 9:50 I drove over to pick M up for his town errands. He was very slow moving and was not in great shape when he came out to the car.

Anyway, he should be nowhere but in bed with elevated feet today because his feet are so swollen. But he had things to do in Durham that only he could do. Long story short, he got in to see the doc at the hospital and they want follow ups asap.

Robin asked me if I would mind stopping
at Foodland for some fresh flowers
to put on the table in the bnb.
Their selection was pathetic.
You can't see the dying flowers that I discarded.

He hobbled enough to get his errands done for today. After dropping him off, I came home long enough to grab a banana and my water. Bill was home from his day, not unexpected, andj off I went to Williamsford.

The house was in good shape and after an hour and a half, I was on my way home. I stopped in Durham at the Beer Store to deposit my collected bottles and cans. Boy, was I surprised when I pocketed $4.80! I guess those roadside stops and bnb donations helped.

Back home by 2:15, I was starving! An apple and a cookie will tie me over until tea time. Bill had finished cutting the back field and corral just as I arrived and that meant time for his snooze. I relaxed myself, and delved back into my book.

We were in the tent and then he
disappeared, waiting.

It was another hot, humid day and I wished I'd put the a/c on this morning. Well, after today, I've decided it will be on tomorrow as we ride out this stretch of weather. We had grilled sausages on a bun for supper and, as usual, delicious!

                            A little performance for you

This has been a good day. Since M played a big part of it, tomorrow morning I will be taking him in for a follow up with his doctor, solely as his transportation. The man is very stubborn and does not/has not looked after himself for years. Today we reached the prerequisite 28C/83F for the week.

They tasted better than this picture portrays.

Bill was into the reruns of Bosch so went upstairs to watch more of that. I'd finished my book waiting for supper, so watched more of Bones tonight. I started a new (to me) series called Countdown and am quite enjoying it, 4 episodes in.

This is a memory from 2019.
It was a sad occasion although my
daughter and I had big smiles because
we were together.
We had attended a funeral for a dear friend
in Rodney.

We were advertising how tall the corn was
in the field beside their home.
This was Aug. 7th, 2019.

Good night!

BTW, stay tuned for the sequel "Moonflower 2" - it may be tonight. πŸ˜‚

Thank you for the visit.

Relaxing on a Hot Day

Yuma Lakes RV Resort

On Saturday, Mar. 22nd it was 6:15 when Gibbs woke us up. Well, I moved, then Bill moved and then Gibbs got excited enough to give Daddy his 'I need to get up' cuddle. It's a process and I think it is quite cute. ❤️ I came down with him to have breakfast. Last night around 8ish, I felt hungry enough for a small piece of apple cheesecake. Yum. This morning, I was ready to eat at 7.

Good morning!
A prickly pear cactus after a bloom

When my tea was finished, I felt good and took Gibbs for his walk. The morning was already beautiful and I didn't really need the light sweater I slipped on before leaving the Suite. When we returned, I took the layer off and went strolling through the west end of the park. We've parked at that end one, maybe two, times before but they've added some partition fences for extra large Premium sites. For long term stays, they would be lovely.

A walk to the other end of the park

These sites are huge and private.
These fences are an addition since our last
visit here in 2022.

It was a pleasant walk and with no park entertainment going on for us today, I meandered back home after slipping down to the lake once more. Bill and I just relaxed for the rest of the morning, discussing our route home, tossing around the dates (again) and watched the couple behind us preparing for an RV wash. We are still debating whether we will be giving the Suite her own bath. πŸ˜

I've never really looked closely at
the inside of the palm tree trunk.
Interesting.

For lunch, we had toasted bacon, tomato and cheese sandwiches. Yum, they were good! I'm glad we picked up tomatoes on Thursday at the market. We also picked up a huge cauliflower and more strawberries. Who could beat the price of 2 for $5? I cut the strawberries up for a dessert over the next few days. After cleanup, I went up (down?) to the pool for a couple of hours. Ken and Kim came together and Ken cooled off as well.

Down by the pond
Peanuts anyone?

Instead of peanuts, I chose this
sandwich instead.
Good choice.

Before noon, we closed windows and pulled the outside blinds. We were expecting some hot and hotter weather in the coming days so since we weren't paying the electric bill here, we turned the a/c on to 75F/25C. It was quite welcome when I walked back at 3, already warm again. πŸ˜€ However, I didn't stay inside long and made a blended margarita for Happy Hour. When Ken and Kim joined us in the shade of their unit we all toasted to our last one this season. We've really enjoyed this week and look forward to more time together in the next.

Happy Hour and Gibbs sleeps.
Notice the leg up on his bed?
He stayed outside for half the time and went
inside to cool off.

Cheers!
Bill and Ken look a tad smug, no?
😁

Bill began grilling his sausage while I took Gibbs, or visa versa, for a walk. πŸ’• I reheated the last of the spaghetti and fried the last of the potatoes for supper. This will clean up those leftovers. It was a tasty meal even the 3rd time around and I got my pasta fill for the month.

Supper was still a success

We had a piece of cheesecake for dessert and watched episodes of The Voice while I worked on this post. It has been a wonderful day. Hot and sunny at 89F/32C. There was a nice comfortable breeze too.

Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

Hot, Humid and Busy

The Ridge

On holiday Monday, Sept. 4th I didn’t hear a thing when Bill and Gibbs got up. I didn’t even realize that Bill wasn’t in bed when I woke up after 6:30. I saw Gibbs or rather felt him stretched out along my leg and seeing the time, rolled over for another 20 minutes or so. 😊 Even doing that, I was up and on my way to the Mat at 7:30. Bill was getting ready to go flying, it was a great calm, sunny morning for it.

An indoor (top)
and
an outdoor picture as I left
for the Mat

Only one of my regulars came in while there until I had just washed the floors, getting ready to leave. Mrs. ‘Outdoor Adventures’ from her store in town, came in and apologized for walking on my clean floor. She is also a regular and always compliments the job I do. Let me tell you, I can’t hear that often enough! I’d taken our ‘Nancy’ quilts from our recliners and once they were fresh and clean brought them home to hang. ♥

They smell so nice after blowing
in the breeze

I was able to relax with Gibbs, but we did walk down to the apple tree and fill 2 bags of ripe ones. He stayed right close to me, in the shade while I picked. He’s so good with his collar. 😊

I hope Donna comes back for more!!
The bottom pictures are from under the
umbrella of the branches.
They don't get the sun under there.

I think Gibbs is saying that he
picked the ones in 'this' bag.
Ha! He is a big help though.

At 10:45 I left the house for Williamsford. Robin’s second set (4) of guests will be checking out by 11. She had a couple coming in this afternoon staying until Thursday. She and I have a direct line through our texting and she gives me an run down of what extra things need to be done.

I love this 'back door' drive to Williamsford
and Owen Sound.

I finally remembered to get an outside
picture of the Air bnb.

They would need clean towels so those and the bath mat went in the washer right away. It takes forever! I stripped the lower bed and remade it but brought the sheets home for Robin to wash. They wouldn’t be needed this week. It was an easier clean today, and I only had to dust mop the floors after my deeper clean yesterday.

Hibiscus #3!

After waiting for the towels to dry, including the drive, it was an hour less today. Robin will be home Wednesday night and she’ll have my pay for me on Thursday. She was happy to get a 5* review on the place from last night’s guests and passes much of that credit along to me. She’s a sweetheart. ♥

The rest of the day was busy enough. Bill and I met on the road as he and Gibbs went for water and I was returning home. We had a sandwich for a late lunch and then when he went out to the Hangar, I stayed inside and cut up 1/3 of the apples, simmered them and put them through the colander for apple sauce. It is time consuming so even though hotter than the dickens inside (forgot to put the a/c on earlier) I turned a movie on to keep me entertained.

Relaxing in the shade.
It was a well-heated oven inside the Suite.

Of course, there has to be a Gibbs
performance picture.
I'm sure it felt great to roll around on the cool grass
but I took his 'word' for it!

With the apple sauce done and dishes from that mess cleaned up, we went outside. It was lovely in the shade and I sat and played my afternoon word games. Around 6, Bill came up and grilled burgers, of which we BOTH had them on soft D’Italiano buns. 😊 They were yummy and we had ice cream with some apple sauce for dessert. Delish! This has been a busy but wonderful day, reaching a high of 30C/86F plus humidity. No covers required tonight. I have a real day off tomorrow.

Not trying to make Nancy hungry,
but oh my, it was gooood!
Good night!

Thank you for the visit!
