On Monday, Feb. 28^th we opened a new week and ended a short month. Gibbs and I went for our walk at 7:30 and when we returned, Bill was getting ready to go to the flying field. I was happy that he was getting back into the swing of things again. He was too! 

It was a warmer start, 44F/6.6C, and a great time to walk. There were a few wispy clouds and a bit of a breeze and a forecast of 77F/25C.

Bill left around 8:30 after disconnecting our electric and I sat with Gibbs to finish my tea and my blog from yesterday. I played the lazy card last night and didn’t feel like finishing it. I chose to spend the time with my guys. 😊

So, with the post published and a couple of games played (Wordle and Wordle2 as well as a laughingly funny attempt at WorLdle) on my phone, I left Gibbs and walked to the flying field.

I noticed the wind had picked up as it usually does late morning so wasn’t surprised to see Bill was done flying. It was fun though to walk up behind him as he stood talking to his friends and slipping my arms around his waist. Hmmm, does it say something that he didn’t jump in alarm? 😊 I’m glad not to have frightened him but why was it natural for someone to do that? Ha ha, I did surprise him, pleasantly from the look on his face. ♥

One flyer had his plane up so I watched for a while and declined Bill’s offer of a ride home. I walked across the field in the area of Celia’s Garden and then out to the bike path along the road. I didn’t have my picture id with me but stopped in at the Quartzsite library for a peek. First time is always a charm and although no library ever disappoints me, this is a beauty. It’s very modern and I do prefer the old ones with creaky floors but I was impressed. I’ll register when I bring my wallet.

I walked home and felt quite hot and tired when I walked into the Suite. Bill had been home for about 15 minutes already, leaving the field soon after I left. We had some lunch together and I walked to the clubhouse to pack up my puzzle and start a new one. Pokeno was being played at the tables in the dining area and after an hour and a half of listening to that, I was ready to come home. Sorry but Myla’s monotone voice (which is fine if you’re playing) got to me. 😊

I sat outside for a while, reading, and then Bill and Gibbs joined me. We have been talking a lot about our plans for the homeward bound trip as well as next winter. With certain knowledge of what we’d like to do, there are things that we bring along that could easily be left at home. Cleaning out spaces and cupboards is always a good thing as it eliminates weight at the same time. It will be an ongoing conversation until we leave in the fall again.

I took Gibbs to the dog park but we didn't stay long. He doesn't seem to do anything but sniff. For supper, Bill grilled sausages and inside I put together a salad and boiled some potatoes. It all tasted great and we finished it off with the last of our cherry pie.

My piece was too big but I ate it anyway. LOL It was the last sweet thing I’ll have for a while! Funny thing though, in the 3^rd last bite, I found a cherry pit. I asked Bill if that means something romantic like “does this mean our love is forever?” but I got an unexpected response. 😊 Wrong answer!

After loading the dishes, Gibbs crashed on the floor by the door, we turned the new episode (w/o LJ Gibbs) of NCIS on and watched it while I worked on my post. This was a beautiful ‘winter’ day for the last month of February. Down here, we know how March is going to come in and it won’t be a lion. ♥ I hope those of you back home can say the same.

Bill Gets an Early Start, Walking with Gibbs, Baking

The Ridge

On Saturday, Aug. 7^th, Bill was up at 5 and took Gibbs out for his business. It was early so he brought him back to bed. I knew he was pulling out with the cargo trailer around 6 so had no plans to get up to see him off. He crawled across the bed for a ‘goodbye, I love you, drive safe and have a good day’ kiss. 😊 Jam-packed in other words.

We, the lazy bones, didn’t get up until almost 7 but it was more resting than sleeping on my part. It is nice to just cuddle with the little fur baby. I was watching a dog training program last night and understand that it is against ALL training rules (Laws?) to bring your dog into bed with you but too bad, Bill and I say. They are special moments for us as puppy owners and unless it is imperative that Gibbs sleep in his crate (for a personal or health reason), he will have a place in our King bed.

Gibbs and I left the Suite for our walk around 7:00 and turned around at Turbine Lane. It was a beautiful day, not real sunny but it was already 18C/67F or thereabouts. First time that I’ve wore shorts and my bright yellow windbreaker over a tank top. The windbreaker was not really necessary although as I turned onto Baptist Church Road, the wind did pick up. It is more to be noticed than anything.

He had his breakfast when we returned and then slept while I worked on my blog. I wanted to finish it last night but I couldn’t download pictures from my camera. It kept saying that my ‘power surge on the camera was not strong enough to blah blah blah’. I got frustrated after several tries and closed my laptop. Bill and I watched something on tv together until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer and went up to bed at 10. He followed soon after because of his early morning today.

I thought it was time to do some cleaning so I got out my Norwex products and did the high dusting first, which included the tops of the cupboards and slideouts. It also included the dirty fan blades. Then I did the low dusting which also included the floors to clean up the mess I made. 😃

I used the dust mitt, dry, to not only wipe the inside screen windows but also the daytime blinds that we have in the Suite. I noticed the other day just how dirty they get too. I love the products and the ease of working with them. I have some face cloths to pick up from Gayle that I ordered and Donna's virtual party begins next weekend. 

All things cleaned now

The outside temperature increased to 25C/77F according to my weather network but our outdoor thermometer was reading 88F. Hmm, that’s quite a difference and usually that location of the thermometer is bang on. Oh well, the a/c is running and it is likely warmer inside because I decided to bake more of my keto butter tarts. For me. Bill doesn’t care for them, remember? Maybe I need to bake cookies for him.

I had my shower after lunch, which was the reheated casserole, and then began baking. Oh, somewhere in there, Gibbs sat on my lap with a chewy and I finished the last 3 chapters of my book. It was awesome! Kept twisting and turning so I highly recommend it if you enjoy a detective type of story. 😊 I did the dishes while the tarts were baking. The almond flour dough was more of a challenge today but it pieces together better than regular dough so it didn’t upset me.

At a few minutes before 2, I got a text from Bill that he was leaving the flying field. Wow! I was surprised that their Fun Fly was over already. He would be home for supper so that answered that question. I’ve learned never to count on any particular time, trusting that he’ll let me know when he’s on his way. I guess we’ll be having fish and chips for supper tonight. That’s easy!

Bill arrived home just after the rain started 

Bill was home at 4:30. At 4:25, the first rain of the day hit and he pulled up to the top of the Ridge and just ran for the Suite. He would have been wet had he stopped to grab his camera and cooler. It was nice that he was home earlier than I expected. We both had a headache for some reason so all 3 of us went upstairs to lay down for half hour before supper. That didn’t work out for me, so Gibbs and I came downstairs and sat in my recliner. Bill had a wee doze at least after his drive.

We had our meal, Bill had mostly fries with his fish and he put a few on my plate with my veggies. 😊 I really didn’t need any, I’d eaten enough carbs today but they gave me a taste regardless. After dishes, the rain had stopped and Bill went out to park his trailer down by the Hangar. It was still very humid out there and maybe that is where the headaches came from. Mine was lessened after eating which was good.

A tasty little supper tonight

I've started a new book, just barely into it.  It’s called Sold on a Monday by Kristina McMorris and I have a feeling that it will be a ‘heart’ jerker. It’s time for one of those. This morning I spent some time reading my beginning blog posts back in 2014. That was actually quite fun. I was drawn to them while looking for old family pictures with Bill’s father. I may do that again.

This was a nice quiet day. Gibbs was good at home with Mom and a new chewy that lasted most of the day. After supper, he was a little wild ‘man’, tearing around with our shoes, running around the island and barking. Methinks he didn’t get enough outside exercise today! We try hard to be firm but hide our chuckles at some of his antics. LOL his ‘puppy’ was showing! By 7:30, the next bout of black skies headed our way and the thunder followed. I turned the a/c off as it seemed to be bringing in some cooler air. 😊

Sunny Saturday, Nice Walk, Nice Drive with my Guy

Bill and I were awake and up by 7:30 on Saturday, Jan. 16^th. I was hoping to get out for my walk by 8 but then I remembered that I was lazy last night and too tired to wait for my pictures to upload. For some reason, they were dawdling. So, I sat and finished publishing by 8:30 while Bill went down for his coffee.

Then, I went for my walk. It wasn’t 2 miles but it was nice to be out enjoying the beginnings of the sunny day. The sun wasn’t prominent all the time but it was nice to see it through the trees and over the rooftops. Who knew how long it would last! I walked down towards the campground along the river, not completely sure if I’d go the full gamut around.

Decision made as my feet kept on going my normal route. I did good getting out there today, almost talked myself out of it a couple of times. 😊 Coming back up towards the main street, I met a different lady with a beautiful husky. Well trained too, as he/she didn’t pull on the leash to come see me. I wouldn’t have minded; they are gorgeous dogs with eyes that seem to see into your soul.

Instead of going up to Queen St. I took one more detour back towards Water St. and came home the same way from which I started. It was long enough. I was ready for my tea when I returned but not because I was cold. It was a cool -4/26F. I just needed my tea. My upper left thigh still aches, and I could feel it as I walked. You’d think with the exercise I’m getting that it would improve. Strange, but I’ll survive!

Back up Water Street

The morning disappeared somehow. In there, I’d had my shower and we actually curled up and had another bit of sleep. Bill was up late finishing his book The Patriots Club so no doubt he was still tired.

At 12:45, we got up and went down to make brunch. I’d decided on toasted bacon, cheese and tomato sandwiches. A nice summer-type lunch since I had the tomatoes and we hadn’t had them for a long time. They were good too!

Bill wanted to take Black Beauty to fill her up so we drove to Hanover after dishes to do that. Gas and diesel prices are up a bit but we remember when they were $1.25/litre so won’t complain too loudly. We paid $1.02 today at the Pioneer and he added points to his Journie rewards at the same time.

We took a tour around looking for something we’d heard about and then headed for home. Bill drove down the country road where he goes to Billy’s and it was nice to see new scenery.

For the afternoon, there was more relaxing, reading, dozing and enjoying the day together. On the way back from our drive, I asked him to take me down Victoria St. where the Book Barn is so I could drop off the next 3 books we’d finished. I’m almost done mine, so we’ll have to see what’s left to read. If only I could get to the Suite where my stash is!

Supper tonight at 6 was reheated meals from the previous two nights. We each had potatoes, a veggie and roast beef from Marty’s. Reheating in the microwave is fine but it doesn’t stay hot for long. I ate what I could but still couldn’t finish all of the leftover baked potato. I was full. Bill finished off the Jell-o for his dessert and we were both content for the night.

With a mystery movie at 9, Bill went in to join Wes and Susan. He brought my ‘new’ chair up from the games room so I could be comfortable watching a movie of my choice in our room. I haven’t seen which one is next so will let you know tomorrow! This was a really nice, quiet day.
