A Working Saturday, Sky Photos

The Ridge

On Saturday, Sept. 26th it was a ridiculous 4:45 am when I woke up. Gibbs started licking and making absurd noises (🤭) as soon as he moved so I grumbled at him to stop or get off the bed. That's when I looked at the clock and grumbled again. 😂

Good morning!

I popped my ear plugs in and went back to sleep. Bill got up around 5:30 and I refused, staying covered up and cozy until 6:40. We sorted the laundry into 2 loads and he carried it to the car while I got washed and dressed. I was feeling good, no complaints here!

Bill left for the field about 3 minutes ahead of me and I couldn't catch up with him. I saw one of the 2 wee daschunds down Baptist Church Road again this morning and it makes me so sad.

He ran from one side to the other so I slowed down and stopped beside him. No collar but he let me know I was in his space. 🤭 I hope his owners (which ones?) know he is out there again.

I did a fair bit of driving today
so a lot of sky pictures fill
today's blog.

The Mat was empty and I've switched up my routine when that is the case. First thing is normal, checking machines for notes and opening the doors to the washers and then I dust mop when there are no feet to sweep around. Sometimes that is all that is necessary unless I have to wash them.

Baptist Church Road
in this area is like forging
a new path.

Today, I loaded the machines first and then followed through. I was finished everything in an hour, including dusting the hard to reach shelves in the middle. Before I even went to the Mat, I forgot to say that I stopped at the Ultramar for fuel. Ouch and double ouch! $1.799/litre. She took $70.

It took a while for these to dry
today. The clouds and cool air
made it a challenge.

With the day's forecast promising to be sunny (full at some point) I brought the clothes home to hang on the line. The grass was really wet and the clothesline was dripping and needed to be shaken. I left Gibbs inside or he would be all wet, him with his rolling around.

Later in the day, things changed
for the better.

At 10:45, I'd packed a banana, a yogourt, some cheese, my water bottle and made a coffee to take to Williamsford. The place was left quite good so I stripped all 3 beds, threw them with bath mats and towels in the wash and continued on.

I sent Donna a picture of one of
her Dieffenbachia's in the
bnb window.

Deciding which beds to make now is not a question. Sometimes, I can't tell if they've been slept in when guests remake them but I wash the sheets anyway. 🤷‍♀️ Better to be safe than sorry. I was on my way back to Durham by 1 pm and since I had something to pick up from our dog groomer at 2, bided my time.

Eckhardt's tree never lets
me down with its wardrobe change.

That's when I met Bill driving towards the Co-op for propane, on his way home from the field. I followed BB and we chatted for a bit. I was going to wash Ptooties but didn't have change and it wouldn't take my debit card. Blimey! I visited Going Once, Going Twice and talked to Laura until 2.

My first taste of the infamous
'smash' burgers.
I'm not sure I get it. They're very good
but we went from wanting thick juicy
burgers to squished thin ones?
🤷‍♀️🤔
what am I missing?

I'd bought some Wunderballs from Kate for Gibbs and Mildred at an online auction she was holding. She's selling out of the toys, leashes and coats and the auction was a good way to do it. Back home, I brought the clothes in off the line and Bill had a puzzling job trying to figure out why we didn't have 12v power.

Here we go. I knew something
cool would be happening out there tonight!

He figured 'it' out, as I knew he would, but he had to put his 'electrician's' hat on for a while. 'It' being the fact that we need a new battery shutoff switch. ðŸ¤·‍♀️ I'm no help but maybe being supportive and trusting 100% in him is all the help he needs. 🥰 And I certainly do that!

I was in and out a few times
to film the beauty.

For supper, he grilled smash burgers for a change. My first time. They were good and even Gibbs got a wee taste after the fact.....I always leave him a nibble and it encourages an empty bowl of his dry food too. 🤭 Yes, he's spoiled.

Once I noticed the sun was gone,
I looked out back and barely
caught (in the bottom left) the
white dot of the moon rising.
So many clouds may dampen the performance.

The sun is setting and we'll be watching for the harvest moon tonight. Bill saw it this morning but I missed it.

Maybe not.

If anything else happens, I'll
post it tomorrow.
Good night!

This was a great day, more $$ in my pocket, literally speaking. We reached 20.5C/69F today.

Thank you for stopping by on this wonderful fall day.

A Load of Groceries and A Couple of Brush

The Ridge

On Friday, Sept. 25th, I heard Bill get up around 5:30 to use the washroom. When he came back to bed and told Gibbs to move over, I knew he didn't have to work today either. Nice.

Good morning!

I mean, the $$ is nice at this time of year, but he did want to do a run or two to our town dump and btw, who doesn't enjoy Fridays off? We slept in until after 6:30, me even longer, just chillaxing. 🤭 I've never said that before! I didn't have to work today either so we took our time over our tea and coffee.

Black Beauty was laden
with frost at 7 but you'd never
know it from this picture at
9:15 am.

My only plans for the day were to restock our 'larder' (Erma - for you), and meet a Marketplace shopper to hand over my candles. Since he lives in Hanover and I was going to Walmart, that was where I would meet him. For free candles, I wasn't driving any further. He was quite agreeable.

I left my boys around 9:15 and as I passed through Durham texted him that I would be 15 min too. I only had to wait 5 or so minutes and he rode up on his ebike. He was thrilled to get the bag of assorted candles, we shook hands, he rode off and I went shopping.

I got my trunk full of food, drove to Independent in the next block for my (& Gibbs') yogourt and had to take a quick peek at Giant Tiger. I head for their 'clearance' racks and was not disappointed. For $15, I found 2 pieces that match and I would wear on occasion.

This is for the second load.
These trees needed to come down.

Back home, Bill had just returned from getting 2 bottles of water and dumping the trailer load of branches at the town dump. We had lunch and when Bill went out to load the trailer again, I wanted to help. I put my gloves on and helped pick up branches and throw them in the trailer.

Gibbs watches from a shaded
spot. Lots of grounded apples.

Although I was feeling a bit of discomfort in my right leg (again) it didn't seem to make it worse. At one point Gibbs and I walked to the mailbox and back. I sat for a while and then we finished filling the second load. I came in with Gibbs while Bill took it into town. The dump is open from 11 am to 4 today and closed tomorrow.

This tree had low hanging branches
too difficult to cut under.
Gone!

Today, is a mixed kind of day. It started out with mostly clear skies, pink splotches to the west but no real magnificent sunrise. Maybe I missed it. I wore a cardigan (to which a lady across the aisle complimented) and when I finished checking out, and got to the car, had to take my outer layer off.🤭

Obviously 2 bulbs but it
looks kind of cool with them
cuddled together

It was feeling quite warm all the way home. However with windows open inside the Suite, it feels chilly. That's what September is, the sun isn't as strong so we don't go far without long sleeves. Bill came back from his second load and proceeded to load the last of the sprawly, messy apple trees from the berm.

You know I love clouds.
Well, sometimes, at just the right
moment, they put on a performance.

What a difference it all makes. Hopefully, in the next day or two I will be able to rake up all those apples! Not good for anything, too many worm holes. Bill was tired so he and Gibbs came inside to sit for awhile. I made a tea and when Donna messaged that she and Gerry were stopping by for her Moonflowers, I went out and dug up about 10.

Donna's Moonflowers

That way, if some don't survive, no big deal. There are more where they came from. They stayed for a few minutes and after they left, I changed to go to Catch the Ace. We left at 5 and as soon as we arrived, Kat handed me a bday card for Bill and I and a tray of mini cupcakes! So sweet!

More clouds in odd formations

We shared them at our table while counting tickets and $$ and when the draw was over, the Ace of Spades still out there, we drove to Robin's. She had my flowers at her house, I'd left them at the Carriage House to get this weekend.

When we got home this evening,
I knew another performance was
about to begin.

Back home, the sky was absolutely gorgeous and I snapped a few photos before coming inside. That air is quite cool even though the winds have died.

Some people love fall but I much prefer the warmth. Today was about the same temperature as yesterday and should be a couple of degrees warmer overnight than last night.

Just 'wow!'

For supper, we popped 2 beef meat pies in the oven. They were tasty and I had some of the fresh tomatoes on the side and our last piece of pineapple upside down cake. Ooh, lots of sweet stuff tonight! We set the dishwasher to run and Bill went upstairs to watch tv.

The grand finale

I worked on my blog and watched another episode of Neagley. I've had a good day but I didn't like the tease of my sciatica returning. I'm fine tonight and pray things stay that way - I have things to do tomorrow and beyond!

We like the meat pies but
I think my small tomatoes are done. 👎

Shall we talk Moonflowers? Maebeme was closest but still in very cool waters. Here are the results:

This is a valid count, one
Bill took over for me while I
was away. Wow!
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.
