Morning Walk, Garage Sale Casino Cruise

We were both up on Saturday, Nov. 25th before 7:30 but I took the few minutes lead time ahead of Bill to go for another morning walk. I headed in a different direction today to see some different views and homes. It is always a surprise, sometimes just trees or plants but sometimes our new house being built. Ha ha. Yes, we can still dream of having a winter home down here and it doesn’t cost us a dime!

The mountains to the west this morning
It was uneventful this morning, more traffic though and meeting only one other walker as she headed in a different direction. I was back just before 8 and joined Bill with our morning java. Clear blue skies again and the sun came up without hesitation, just the way I like it. On my way back, I crossed the intersection of Inverness and Palo Verde Blvd and saw a Garage Sale sign. I had no cash on me so after posting my blog, I went back for a peek.
The promise of a sunrise
And here it comes over the roof tops
I thought it said 2 sales but within the distance (and elevation) I was willing to walk, I only found one. Surprisingly, I did manage to find something for back home for $1 so after a nice chat with the seller’s sister from N.M. I walked away pleased. I got a block away and thought that I’d go back and buy the second one she had for sale as well. I won’t say what it is because I may give one to my sister.
So tempted to pick an orange......but I would never!

Love the road runner

I've seen a couple of these flags and when people questioned it at the pool
in the park, I googled it. Maybe you already knew that it is for Police
I debated about walking to find the Open House I saw a sign for but it was after 10 and it was getting hot out there. I headed back down Griffin to Barite and home to Kibbey. Bill was reading, stretched out in his recliner. I knew that wouldn’t last long since he’d told me he had a restless night. Seems I did too, I remember tossing and turning a bit and it could have been the heat.

Huge metal sculptures
Not sure that it looks natural but to each their own
At 11 o’clock I thought I should get something to eat since Bill had cereal when I was out. Hmm, I remembered that we had 2 waffles and a mini sausage in the fridge from the other night that Bill keeps forgetting to eat. That’ll work for me and it cleans up another leftover. It was either me eat it or I’d throw it out. The latter would have been better for the waist line but……it was good and filling until supper.

I enjoy what shadows do in the sun
And then I saw this bright display
If you look realllly close to the dead tree on the right
You might be able to see their attempt to catch the sun's rays

Yup, I'd have quails on my garage too!

Rose and George's painted satellite dish
Mexico, I presume
Bill wrote a post (On Our Way ) this morning about Cruise night from last Thursday so I read it and thought I’d take my book outside in the shade. The sun is at its hottest right now, 12 noon, so not a good idea to sit in it. Oh, first I’ll hop in the shower since we have such great water pressure here. When I finished I saw George and Rose out on their patio so I went to join them to discuss the day’s plans.

FaceTime with their granddaughter

It was cute hearing them talking on her I-pad to their granddaughter. Bill came out and we talked about many things, from television programs to rock hunting and then to Casinos and gambling.  We learned a lot of tips on casinos from both of them in an hour. At 2:30 we hopped in their car and George drove us to the Casino parking lot where we bought a $2 pass to catch the ferry over to California. Get ready for picture overload.

After buying our tickets, we walked the strip until the ferry returned

Here comes our ride
It was a gorgeous day to take the cruise and we followed them up to the top level. This is a 20-minute ferry ride and we went up to the main desk at the casino and Bill and I registered for a Player’s Card. There were no free plays but we were able to snag 4 free passes for the next cruise and 10% discounts off a meal at their Trail’s End restaurant. We were hoping to have been offered a $10 or $20 free play.

By the time we did that, the ferry had left. After lunch, they run every hour from Lake Havasu and back on the half hour. I can’t remember when they stop for the night. I can tell you that they are very prompt. Watching the boat leave at 3:30 we decided to grab a bite to eat instead of spending any money gambling. That would be like throwing $40 out the window unless……. you know, unless we won.

Not much is prettier than sun on water

We all got a kick out of the Saint Bernard on the pontoon boat

Nice RV park right on the beach of the River
George secured us a table for 4 right in the corner of the diner and a perfect view over the water. The boys ordered Fish and Chips, Rose ordered a Chicken sandwich and I ordered the Grilled Reuben. We both had cottage cheese on the side and the meal was delicious. No supper needed tonight. I was craving corned beef and sauerkraut and it was worth it. Their prices were reasonable with lots of food. Thank you, George and Rose for a great time.

No words can describe

Such a beautiful day, beautiful view

arriving at Havasu Landing Casino, CA

We finished up grouped around the Three Hand Poker table watching George show his stuff. When after 10 minutes he walked away with enough to pay for our dinner, I was duly impressed. We are so naive in a casino that we found it very interesting being with someone who knew their way around so confidently. We went outside and sat waiting for the ferry to return and at 5:30 we got our ride back across to the city.

Perfect spot to enjoy our meal together

Grilled Reuben and cottage cheese
Yum!
When we got back home, Clemson was ready and being very patient for his supper. He didn’t have much choice but there were no accidents and we both got our kisses in greeting. I think we all felt kapooped and said our good nights. We’ll catch up with them in the morning before we head out around 11. We won’t be in a rush since we can’t check into Ridgeview Resort until 1.

Someone's fun ride waiting in the parking lot
This has been another perfect day. I got in a couple of nice walks, found a garage sale, had a boat ride, ate a good meal with friends and ended it with my sweetie inside in front of the tv. Can you say the same? I hope so!
And London Bridge at night decorated for Christmas

Thank you for stopping in today to see what we’re up to. Your comments are welcome.

  3. I was waiting to see whose house you would be touring today!!!! Good control at the casino. You know exactly how much you win if it stays in your pocket. Safe travels.

    1. I didn't want to bore you. We'll be back there and I'll continue. :) Restraint at the casino is easy if there isn't money in your pocket in the first place! ha ha
