We woke up at 6 PT cozy in our
overnight spot. Are we rednecks when we sleep in a casino parking lot waiting
to hit the big one? We kept our money in our pockets when we walked through
last night, not being in a position really to spend even a few bucks right now.
But we had fun without risking losing anything.

Saw this cute retro trailer on my walk |

Casino entrance |

Across from the entrance |
I finished my post from yesterday but
before I delved into reading anyone else’s I went for a walk around the parking
lot and Casino grounds. It is very pretty here, lots of money in the area for
sure. I was wishing they would have the water fall working but I’m too early.
It was still pretty to see and I walked around the perimeter to find these
ducks checking me out. Some were young but others had beautiful colours
adorning their feathers.
|
they are asking each other 'which way do we go? which way is she going?" |
|
Look at the greens and blues in these guys |
Back at the Suite Bill had the coffee
pot turned on so we made our coffee and tea. We don’t have to rush this morning
since it is only 2 ½ hours to our park. It is nice to be idle and
move slower. Bill was outside chatting with a couple of other rv’ers from
Alberta, Canada who had also pulled in last night. Just coincidental, they
weren’t travelling together.

These mountains are not black, they are shadows |
|
Great roads again |
Once I was washed up I checked and
found out that we could check into our park at 10 so secured the Suite and hit the
pavement. This was a nice place to park, next time if we need to, we would try
and arrive earlier………well, if it wasn’t for the tire episode we would have. I
recommend it if you are ever in the area, we found it on www.freecampsites.net.

Approaching the military air base in Las Vegas |
It is another God given beautiful day
with clear skies except for a few white and fluffies. The temperature is
hovering around the 70F mark. We had no question this morning on what to wear
as we slipped into shorts and tees today. There isn’t a lot of traffic which
also makes travelling I-15 a treat. Until we approach Las Vegas, that is!
|
5 lanes of traffic moving quickly but not overly busy at 11:15 |
|
Cesar's Palace |
|
I love this! Also the fact that Penn & Teller are performing at the Rio |
Soon enough that is exactly what we
did. I-15 goes right through the heart of L.V. at 65 mph so Bill kept the rig
around 62 mph to keep up with traffic. I did my best to advise what lane he
needed to be in once we got through and wanted to catch Exit 33 onto US 160W. He’s
awesome and maneuvered through easily. I didn’t feel his palms though so don’t
know if they were sweaty or not!
|
My job as navigator was to get him on this Exit |
It was a good time, swinging through
L.V. between 11:15 and 11:30. Once on the other side, the route was less hectic
and traffic eventually thinned out. I snapped pictures of popular things we’ve
heard of or dealt with online. It was just neat to see them.
|
Lots of expansion going on This building looks neater BEFORE |
Amazon, Trump Tower,
Cesar’s Palace and Mandalay Bay. We saw the signs to the McCarin Airport too so
will drive back one day to check it out and find the Terminal my
sister is flying into.
|
than the AFTER |
It was just after 12 noon when we
drove into Pahrump and turned right onto Crawford St. towards the park. We
pulled up alongside the road to register at the check-in office and were set up
at site 102 near the entrance by 1:30 pm.
We had to jiggle a bit so our slide out on the east
side cleared the hydro post and then the jacks went down and all was good. They
alternate the way we pull in to some of these sites so our doors and windows are not
directly across from each other, even though we are close.
Bill set to work getting the
satellite set up and bingo! NCIS popped up almost immediately. We haven’t
watched tv for over a week, my goodness! How ever did we survive? I read
outside for a while and then decided to go for a walk around part of the park. It
is a beautiful day sitting at 75F/22C.
|
Clemson and I stayed outside too long! |
|
That is the pool on the other side of the fence I'll get a better picture tomorrow when no one is in it |
I checked out the pool, met a couple of
people full of information, the hot tub, the laundry and this quaint little
area with HUGE koi. Just for you Kathy and Derrick!
|
Almost thought I witnessed Blotchy's reincarnation |
When I came back it was time to think
about supper so we decided to warm up leftovers. Bill had a butt chop and I had
my fried chicken from last night and we each had a salad on the side. It was
good and we’re not wasting food. I’m glad we’re staying put tomorrow, just
catching up on a few things. Laundry and cleaning. I might even bake something but I'm definitely going to hit the pool and spa!
|
This park is on a dead end street away from the hectivity of town but close enough for services |
|
Even Clemson is happy to relax for a few days |
This has been a really nice day. We
were here in good time today and it looks like a great park. We are in one of
our ROD membership parks and it doesn’t cost us a dime for 7 nights. It offers
an outdoor pool with retractable roof, hot tub, clubhouse, 3 buildings with laundry
facilities and free wi-fi. I hope you all have enjoyed your day too.

I missed the sunset so will you settle for the moon? |
Thank you for following our journey.
I love reading your comments.
Sounds like you had an eventful day, yesterday. Glad to read you were able to have it all taken care of.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have ended up in a nice spot to spend some time relaxing. Enjoy!
It was indeed eventful. Things are all taken care of, thank goodness.
DeleteThis is a beautiful park and I'm going to enjoy the slower pace while here.
"Hectivity"! Now that's a new one for me!! Hadn't heard it before but it works for me!

ha ha! My blogger friends laugh at the 'new' words I make up and that one expressed my thoughts exactly!
DeleteThanks Don, this has been a wonderful journey so far.
Looks like a perfect spot to catch your breath after all that travelling.
ReplyDeleteThat's what we thought. The weather could have been the opposite up here but it is perfect!
DeleteThat is a beautiful park, we enjoyed it last year as you know, we got players cards at the 2 casinos on the corner and pock up some free bees, Enjoy your time there and the nice weather as well.
ReplyDeleteSo far it looks wonderful! We'll have to check out a casino as well.
DeleteThanks George, the weather is certainly in our favour.
Just got caught up on both days blog, great pictures and we love the way you tell the story! Glad you were able to get the new tires and shocks. You definitely had your guardian angel watching out for you. We don't like travelling through Vegas either but sometimes it's a necessary evil. Your park in Pahrump is beautiful! Glad you have a nice place to stay for a few days. If I remember correctly there is a good winery in Pahrump, someone told us about. Have fun and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOur guardian angel was certainly on duty, thank goodness!
DeleteIt is hard to know when is a good time going through a busy place like L.V. but we must have picked it right. not too bad. We want to go back to the airport as my sister comes in in Nov. We like to know our way around ahead of time.
Pahrump is a pretty town and looks like it has everything we need. Yes, I saw there is a winery. :)
Looks like a nice park to spend a week ... enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe ducks are all Mallards. Males have the green heads, females do not. They all look to be adults.
