A Dip with my Sis

 The Ridge

On Tuesday, July 15th I really had to force myself to wake up, shake the dream cobwebs out of my head and get moving at 6:30. Bill was ready to leave and I had to clean the Mat. I did my stretches and pushed myself to go. Lazy bones, eh? 😴

Good morning!

This was last night's after glow
Cameras don't do the sky justice for me.

There was no one at the Mat when I arrived and it remained that way the whole hour and a half. I had to test a couple of machines and then message Sandy about 2 that were out of commission. On one, I found this note.

She writes like my grandmother did
and I'm glad her husband was home to give
me directions or I would never have found them!

Since I knew from her name, Florence, and the hand writing that she was an elderly lady, I also knew she was not out to complain for no reason. It was also only 7:20 and I was not about to call her so early. Why I'm handling this?......well, below explains that. πŸ˜”

Florence told me before the bridge,
but she had me on the wrong road and there are alot
of these bridges around us.

Kaitlyn (Sandy's wife) told me 2 years ago that they never bothered dealing with this kind of complaint.........(no 'customer is always right' here). I, however, was raised differently and if I lose $$, I want to be reimbursed. Each case, is handled individually and I use my 'spidey' sense to weed out the whiners from the legits.

So, I called her at 8:30 as I was ready to leave the laundromat. They couldn't get the door to close so moved to a different washer. I had tested, and the machine worked fine. I put $7 from a machine in her envelope and because she lived a concession over from us, I put it in their mailbox on my way home. Good deed for the day!😊

I'm somewhat glad I suggested putting it in
the mailbox. This laneway looks a little
frightening, no? Zoom in and you'll
see only dark at the end of the tunnel.
On the other hand, it might have been quite
interesting.

When I got home, I hung the clothes from the Lost & Found box that I'd washed this morning. 4 hoodies, various sizes, 2 pair of pants and a ladies t-shirt. All in good condition. Into the exchange bag they'll go. I got out my quilling tools and carried on with the Manitoba creation.

The first time (or 2nd?) that I've been
on  Concession 4 east.

I had decided to go swimming after lunch at the Durham Day Park so messaged to see if Donna was free to join me. Turns out she was and that made me happy! I was there at 12:30, my craft still spread out all over the table and island, and Donna arrived a few minutes later.

The geese ran when I pulled in the lane.
"I won't hurt you!" I called to them.

We had a lovely time, she stayed for an hour and a half before she had to leave for an appointment. The water was only cool when we first got in but it was so refreshing! After she left, I took one more dip and swam around for a bit before laying out to read until 3.

I stretched our blanket out on the hill,
away from the families and it was quite nice.
The children were having fun over there.

I missed going last year so this was good. I may go again, we'll see. Back home, I continued quilling and got quite excited to see the picture come together. I think Robin will really like it too! She fell in love with the Puffin and paid me well for it, so I hope she is as pleased with the Saskatchewan and Manitoba ones. πŸ’–

It's hard to act natural in
a selfie but you know I'll try!

Bill was home at 5 and after a short nap, he grilled  burgers. Mine was different because there was only one bun left. I had mine in a tortilla.......just not the same but it was filling. Bill left to go to Robin's home, down the highway, to cut their grass. They will be home Friday, I think, and she asked if he would do it once. πŸ˜‰

This was fun to watch.
Two young girls and a paddle board and a dog.
They'd get the lab on the board and start
going out and he'd jump off. 😊
Start over.

After 4 tries, he stayed on with one holding
his collar.
I gave them the πŸ‘and she waved.
Donna and I both agreed that we wish we'd
had more accessibility and 'training'
to and with water as children.

I cleaned up the few dishes and went on to move some money around now that I've been paid for her cleaning for 3 days. It feels good to be making some money and contributing to the extras we need for our winter travels. M called, needing to run into town tomorrow afternoon so there's a bit more $$.

You're only as old as you feel.
Well, going down the hill to the water,
I felt like 40.
Coming back up the hill, I felt my age!!
(and then some!)

This has been another really hot/humid day. Temperature was reading 30C/87F but more like 36C/97F with the humidex factored in. I've been watching my plants and watering when necessary but without running water, it is tiring.

A good burger but not great only because
of the wrap instead of a bun.

And the bugs always find me when I use the hand pump for so long. It takes a while to fill two watering cans after priming first. Yah, a bit of a whine, sorry. I've covered my veggies with a netting during the heat wave so they aren't getting full sun for so long. Oh well, this too shall pass, rant over.

Gibbs was keeping an eye out for his
Daddy to return.

It was a great day and rain is expected in a day or two. I did fill the bird bath from a rain pail and it will probably overflow on Thursday. πŸ˜‚

Today's creation.
The walls in her Belmont, Manitoba bnb are
in gray tones so this should fit in.
Isn't he cute?? I love how it turned out.

I might have posted this already but
I hope she likes it too.
Saskatchewan's wheat and grasses.
Good night!

Thank you for your visit today. Are you staying cool?

  3. The Durham Day Park looks like the perfect place to be in this heat. I love the quilling!

  4. Seven dollars might mean a loaf of bread, some eggs, etc. Good on you, Patsy! It's nice to help the Karma. Loved your new creation. The fish in the bird's mouth made my mouth open to see your creativity. Nice job!

    1. That sounded funny. Like I'm looking through my mouth. Really though, as I scrolled down and saw it my jaw dropped. :o)

  5. That's a pelican, right? Best one you've done yet. VERY cute!! For your burger, use a larger tortilla, put the burger in the middle, wrap it up like a Taco Bell crunch wrap and fry it for a bit. DELICIOUS!!

    1. I would have to do something. That is an 8"tortilla so I will try frying it a bit next time.

  6. Sounds like a nice day, especially the swimming at the park.
I'm sure Robin will like the quilling projects. I must admit, I was surprised by the lighthouse on the Saskatchewan one - I've never heard of it and I've lived here all my life. :p

  7. It really looks like a wonderful place for a swim. I looked up the lighthouse and found out it isn't that far from Harvey's brother. Perhaps when we go to visit, we will make a side trip.

    God bless.
