The Ridge
On Wednesday, July 2nd Bill was up at his normal time for work. I'm not sure if he liked working a day, being off a day and then working again. he might rather just have Friday off. 😏 I was getting up around 6 too - I'll explain.
Robin had asked if I would help her out by posting a notice of inspection on the door of a tenant, renting in Durham. I asked Bill to assist just in case something came of it. She was sure they would not be up.........turns out, they weren't.

The door was wet so I was grateful
Bill came along to wipe the dew off.
Bill followed me into town, parked at the Credit Union and drove down the block to the location. I'm so glad he came along because he thought to bring a rag to wipe the door. Our vehicles were covered with dew as was the door. I never thought of that! The tape would never have stuck otherwise.
ith that simple chore done, he was on his way to work and I headed home. Today, I had nothing else on my 'have to do' plate. Yay! After a full Tuesday, I was grateful for the day to myself, with Gibbs, of course. 😂😍

First coat and only certain spots
may be in need of a second one.
We can't keep the paint over the winter
so may as well use it.
The weather was forecasted to be great for a few days, with only teeny chances of rain, so I decided to stain our king chairs. It took me an hour and it gave me an opportunity to work with the sun on my back (yay, halter tops!) and still have a breeze.
I started at 9:30 and it was 10:30 when everything visible was covered. They look great and I have enough for touchups where a second coat might be needed. Gibbs sat either on the porch steps or in his bed in the shade and kept an eye in between puppy naps.

| This doesn't look so great but I think my next batch will turn out better. One more chance anyway! |
I cleaned up the brush, through the sponges and disposable gloves in the garbage and stretched out on my lounge chair. Gibbs was happier indoors, up on the bed for the next hour until lunch time. What a great day! For lunch, I wanted to try a cabbage recipe, to make patties.

There was a small chance of rain
and storms in the forecast but
I watched as it moved off to the north.
They were pretty good but I was not 100% on following the recipe because I was using a smaller amount of cabbage. I wasn't sure if I'd like it so why make the big batch. Turns out, I do, so I added another egg for tomorrow. So far, it's a keeper.

Wanting to be as close as possible,
but still in the shade, Gibbs slept
under the table.
I stretched out on my flat lounger.
I had Madame IP boil some eggs for Bill's lunches, he loves egg salad sandwiches. When they were cooling off, I went back out to my chair with a book. I haven't read for so long; I expected it to be a challenge getting my attention focused on a new story.

I was through the first 4 chapters
in a blink.
I love her writing and the ability to pick up
any of her Stephanie Plum stories, in
any order and know exactly what you need
to know about each character.
What a laugh that is! It's a Janet Evanovich book, Lean Mean Thirteen, and I was lost in it after the first few pages. I forgot that and it has me laughing already through Chapter 5. 😅 Gibbs stayed inside, knowing where he was more comfortable.
I was in the Suite myself by 3 and we had a little snooze together upstairs with a lovely breeze blowing in my side window. Bill was home just before 5 and had his own little nap before supper. It was a simple meal, leftover lasagna and rolls.
I poured myself a small glass of red wine because the bottle was open, so I'm sure that will hit me later! I'm a 'cheap date'. Bill made his lunch and then went to the Hangar for a bit tonight. He'll be back up if it is too hot in there. Not enough windows like in the Bunky/She-Shed. 😌

Supper, just as good as last night.
I'm glad the rolls are gone though
and that cleaned up the lasagna too.
What a great day. I feel relaxed and with a final walk over to my vegetables, they will need water tomorrow if we don't get rain overnight. The plants look great now, just not a lot of produce. We reached a high of 27F/81F today with a great breeze.

I'm very sad that I don't have any
Moonflowers big enough to bloom yet.
I like to share but I gave too many away to
my sisters last year. LOL
This is from July 2nd, 2023.
Good night!
Thanks for the visit!

Janet Evanovich is a great story teller and I always laugh out loud reading her.

Me too! Bill just looks at me. I've told him tidbits but wish he'd read just one and he'd be hooked too!
