The Ridge
On Friday, July 11th (yay, Friday) I woke up at 6:20 to silence. I thought maybe Bill slipped out without waking me this morning but no, he got distracted downstairs and was just behind schedule. I quickly washed and caught him on time for our smooch. 😘

Good morning!
This was actually Thursday morning
but such a pretty picture, I wanted to include it.
Friday's sky is clear.
After he left, I also finished up in here and took to the road too. It's going to be another hot one today, with that 'forever chance of rain' but for now, a lovely morning. There was no one at the Mat when I arrived but that was not surprising since it was 5 minutes after it opened.

Remember this picture I shared the other day of our 'dock view' in 2016?
Renee, the homeless wanderer, came in and I was immediately uncomfortable as she wandered around, talking to herself and perching in one of the chairs at the front window. She didn't ask about the radio and I didn't offer anything. Within 10 minutes, she packed up her stuff and left. 👏
This is the same view of our pond today.

Robin's sale shed Trust me, it is FULL. She brings big things out for her yard sales.
I finished up there, and, after checking out the Lost & Found box (to know how long stuff sits) left. I needed to get milk for Bill but knew that M wanted me to take him into town, so I headed straight home.

I found a couple of Janet's books.
her regular books are good too.
I'll pay Robin when I see her.
Gibbs and I went outside together while I checked my veggies. I'll have to water them today but the sun is too hot on them until after supper. I did cover them with the netting I have, so they didn't suffer too badly. We sat in the shade for a bit and I moved a few things around in the Bunky.

There is the field Bill is proud of
- after the cut.
You can see the geese in the far corner
if you zoom in. They like it long or short!
At 10, I picked M up and we took care of his business and I got a few things at Foodland that were on special. Still no seeded bread but she said a shipment would be in later today. I'll check on Sunday when I go in to clean.

The corn at M's is getting really tall.
I'm sure ours is too but I forget to walk up the berm
to check it out. LOL
Before coming home, I trimmed a couple of branches at M's mailbox that the mail lady said were scraping her truck. 😐 He couldn't reach them without using a ladder (not a good idea!) and my long handled lopers did the trick easily. He said it wasn't necessary but I told him he needs to do what he can to keep people happy! LOL

Don't worry, no emergency.
M picks up some prescriptions from
the hospital drug store.
But, look at the wind sock drooping.
No wind today down here on the 'mainland'.
We might have a flutter on the Ridge.
Back home, it was a quick visit with Gibbs while I packed some cheese, a pickled egg and a keto square and then I was off to Williamsford. Robin needs a small reading-type lamp for the single bedroom at the bnb so she's borrowing my touch lamp. It was Mom's so even though I don't use it (much) she can't keep it.

Soon, you'll know this country drive as well as I do. I love how you can see the road far off into through the trees.
The house was in good shape but they used all (6) of the big bath sheets............meaning they would not be dry before the guests come in at 3. They were there for 3 days and I don't know how many stayed so I try not to judge. Robin said she would ask today's guests to check the dryer in case it needs more time to dry them.😃 I'm sure it will!

The lamp will suffice in the small
bedroom until Robin finds a shade
for one of her many extras in the sale shed.
On the way home, I craved an ice cream cone so stopped at Dornoch's retail store but at 1:30, the sign said CLOSED. Grrr! It said to ring the bell if you wanted ice cream, that they were just at the house next door. Nope, after 5 minutes, I left. Their loss.

Oh yes!!
Heavenly Hash, one scoop.
In Durham, I picked up a bathtub mat for the bnb and got my cone at the food truck right beside the hardware. Yum, I didn't even care about the $6 price. Then, lastly I fueled Ptooties up and came home. It was 3 o'clock. Enough running around. It was 31C/90F.

Robin sent me these pictures
she took in Nfld.
Oh my goodness, I love them!

She said, like Gibbs, they love
to pose for you.
This made me laugh right out loud!
They are so frickin' adorable!!
She made my day by sharing these with me.
I put the groceries away and put some eggs in Madame IP to boil. We have Catch the Ace tonight at 6 and a potluck immediately following at one of the club member's homes. Bill was home by 4 so had time to shower and snooze a bit before we head out.

A few clouds moved in around supper time
but it was a lovely evening.
No luck with our Catch the Ace tickets but that's okay, it's too early to win the jackpot of $5,000. We're all greedy, I guess, everyone of us was pleased that the winner of $425 didn't pick the Ace of Spades! We all left there at 7 and found our way across town to Doug and Shelley's home.
Bill had packed our cooler with a couple of drinks and the devilled eggs I made for the potluck. They have a lovely place (didn't know they had a pool!) and we all sat on the deck enjoying some laughs and general chatter before eating. Doug barbecued burgers and dogs and there was a nice spread of food to share.

Bill, Shelley, Gord, Terri, Kat, Deidter, Jim
Brian, Roz
(Gracie in the middle)

Ed, Keith, Michelle (?), ? can't remember,
Lynn, Darlene
We slowly learning names but there are some
that I still haven't got straight.
We left just after 9:30 when the 'skitters' were eating us alive. Darn things know how to ruin a good party. 😕 I know I now have a new couple of bite marks that will aggravate me for the next few days. I sat up with Bill and Gibbs, reading, until 10:30 and went to bed.

Gracie was great, only humans.
No dogs so she was happy. 😀
It was a busy but wonderful day! Doing all 3 of my part time jobs today meant I was earning money and I'm pleased that I am capable of doing that. Oh! I even sold my 2 pair of earrings to Roz, so dare I say '4 jobs'? 💗

I watched the sun perform over
the heads of other guests.
Good night!
Thank you for stopping by.

Hey .... that looks like THREE scoops of ice cream to me!!!!! You were a busy girl yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI only paid for one but it was a $6 one!!
DeleteYou certainly had a full day! The photos Robin shared with you are terrific. Friends of mine just returned from a road trip (Saskatchewan to Newfoundland, via Nova Scotia). She said they saw the puffins too, as well as whales and icebergs. It's the only province in Canada I haven't visited and now I'm thinking it needs to happen.
ReplyDeleteAren't they the cutest?
DeleteYou are a busy lady! Three part-time jobs?!
ReplyDeleteYes, but short hours and enjoy each one.
DeleteGreat picture of you on the dock by your pond! :)) I'd buy a raft and lay in the sun out there!
ReplyDeletePaddle around with the turtles! Great pictures as always ~ thanks!
The pond does not look like that anymore.........and it is full of weeds and blood suckers. That will spoil your pretty picture! haha
DeleteWhat a full day you had. Yummy ice cream cone.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It was a full day, but all good.
