The Ridge
On Wednesday, Aug. 13th the morning was easy going, Bill and Gibbs up at 5:30 and me at 6:30. I stripped the sheets off the bed and made it up before I came downstairs. I'll wash those in the morning at the Mat.

I didn't get an early picture so this is what you get.
Bill left around 7 for Hanover and I drank the tea he made me, sitting with Gibbs. With that done, I hopped in the shower and got dressed for my day. My day consisted of shopping and lunch plans with the girls.

Another 2 bloomers last night but they are a bit bedraggled from the rain. This small patch and I count 8 spent flowers here.
Dot picked me up before 10 and we carried on into Durham to pick up Pat. We were all feeling good to get another day out together. Starting something that I will miss over the winter months. 😕
Our first stop was Value Village in Owen Sound and we all grabbed a cart and began poking around. I've not been in this store for at least a year, finding that their prices are getting a bit ridiculous. I did receive a coupon for $15 off if I spend $40. That helps.

We go our separate ways and
occasionally bump into each other
for opinions or a laugh or two.
I don't know how long we wandered but it must have been about 90 minutes, each of us finding some treasures before checking out. Yes, I got the discount. 😀 I got a 2 hole punch, card and envelope stock, a picture frame and a couple of long flowy fun skirts for $5 each.

Too bad we missed Senior's Day yesterday, that would have helped too.
From there, since it was noon hour, Dot drove to the European Cafe & Bakery for lunch. Pat had never been there but it was a favourite of mine and Dot's so we were pretty sure she'd enjoy it too. She and I had a Reuben and Dot had the quiche and salad. Yum!

The Reubens were large and delicious.
Thanks Buddy for sharing your pickle with me.
From there, we carried on our shopping at Winners/Home Sense. I have been in a Winners even less often than V.V. so thoroughly enjoyed poking around in there. They had 4 sales racks as soon as you walk in the door - 70% off. And I wasn't going to look at clothes!
Of course, I tried things on and, of course, I was disappointed for the most part. Not terrible though. Out of 7 items, 4 things came home with me. They are unique, unlike anything I have and one needs some adjustment but I think I can make it work for the $8 I paid.

After telling my cousin on FB that my
hummingbirds don't fight.
I saw 3 chasing each other around tonight
around my Coneflowers and Geraniums.
We were worn out from shopping by the time we left Owen Sound at 3:15. We had a great time. It was 4 when Dot and I returned home from dropping Pat off in town. Gibbs was happy to see me as I'm sure Bella, Caper, Trigger and Remmy were.🐕🦮🐕🦺🐕
I changed out of my dress and made a cup of tea. It was a warm day, bordering on hot but still a few degrees less than yesterday. We did get a wee bit of rain overnight, as things were wet this morning but we still would like more - please. 🙏

Gibbs and I walked to get the mail and I noticed the good apples off this tree are also dropping early. Way too early.
Bill was home around 5 and since I had had a big lunch, he decided that mac & cheese would be good for his supper. I had a wee bit on my plate too just so I wouldn't be hungry at 9 o'clock.
This was a wonderful day! We'll definitely do it again in September.

And because I was having too much fun
to take pictures today,
You get this for a finale.
Good night!
Thank you for stopping by. It will be a quiet evening.

What a wonderful day you girls had. Sounds like you found some great deals thrift shopping.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, it was a fun day!
DeleteMy hummers are fighting like crazy too. I need to put a feeder on the other side of the house to relieve the tension.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've seen 3 all at once. They must be getting antsy about something!
DeleteIt's probably a good thing I don't have those shops around here. I'd be out shopping every day.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, too funny! We didn't even look at material but it's there!
DeleteAs you know, I do enjoy thrift shopping, and I'm to the point where I cringe at "regular" prices. Having a friend or two to share the time with is fun too!
ReplyDeleteWe had another inch of rain last night, falling in about a 30-45 minutes. I like rain but not that much in such a short time frame.
Yes, I know that about you too. I'm the same. I usually only buy new if it is on sale or if it is at Giant Tiger! (or online).
DeleteThe rain would be good, but yes, that's a lot in a short period.
