A Pretty Quiet Day

 The Ridge

On Saturday, Aug. 2nd I'm finding that I'm falling into a routine. Oh dear. A sleeping-in-kind-of thing. It was 7:00 when I could hear Bill and Gibbs moving around in the bedroom and opened my eyes to my hubby getting dressed.

Good morning!
Still a bit hazy over our way.

I pushed myself awake and got into the bathroom to get washed and ready myself. Bill had sorted the small loads of laundry by the time I finished. It sure makes a difference in load sizes when he doesn't work all week.

If I could read his mind........
He sat there for a good 5 minutes.
Is he wondering where Ken & Kim went?
Is he hearing something next door?
Is he waiting for Daddy to come home?

I left with my tea, the basket of dirty clothes and an empty bottle of water around 7:15. It felt chilly out there so I wore a light sweater. It came off once I started cleaning the Mat. I think the thermometer was reading 10C/50F but through a blurred (smokey?) sky, the sun was poking through.

A stop for water, at Foodland to check on some sale prices and then Home Hardware for bird seed. I got the water, found a few good prices on peaches, Coke and potato chips but not on yogourt, and no bird seed came in on Thursday. Darn! It was a good price too.

There was likely a 3 degree drop
in temperature when the sun hid,
so I waited for its return.

I hung the clothes and knew they wouldn't take long to dry. It had warmed up nicely by then. Gibbs and I just relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the day together until Bill got home around 2ish. I sat in the screen tent and started a new J.A. Jance book.

I'm close to halfway through already.

Oh my, from page 1, I was hooked. It's called Cold Betrayal. I worked in the Bunky, finishing up a greeting card for noone in particular and then layed in the hammock with my little buddy for a while.

Lunch was good,
radishes, cherry tomatoes and zucchini
fried but there was no fat, so I felt
hungry earlier than usual.

When I came in, Gibbs wanted no part of it as long as Daddy was still at the Hangar. He waited for about 30 minutes by himself and finally went down and sat on his doorstep. So cute. I had to text Bill to tell him he had a visitor so he'd open the door for him. 💓

As I said, a relaxing afternoon
for Gibbs and I.

Bill started his bacon cheeseburgers at 6 and I cooked a couple of cobs of corn as well for supper. First feed is always good and I'm hooked. We cleaned up after our meal and waited for a text from Donna. They were having a fire tonight so we were going over for a couple of hours.

It was a good little supper!

This was a nice day. Bill got flying, well, he met with the guys at least, and I enjoyed the peacefulness of the afternoon. We reached a high of 23C/74F today and a warmer day is expected tomorrow.

A memory picture.

  1. Waiting for Daddy of course! He's just making sure his tribe is all back home and together. Lots of corn on sale here ... which I love ... I'm just trying to be good, which as you know, won't last for long!!

  2. Nice day! We had our first feed of corn last week, and bought more this week. Perhaps for dinner tomorrow night.
