A Shopping Day

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Aug. 5th I had another lazy (kind of) day. After Bill left for work, I sat with Gibbs while I drank my tea. Robin asked if I would mind dropping off a couple of Rockwell puzzles in Hanover when I asked if she needed anything. I left just after 8 to get groceries.

Good morning!

After dropping the puzzles off, I stopped at a few stores before hitting Walmart. Independent Grocers has my big yogourt tub (Liberte 9%) but only one on the shelf and they had Bill's diet cranberry juice on sale so I got that there too.

My phone camera was fighting me
the whole time I tried to get this shot.
Gibbs is learning how to tie Daddy's
work boots.
Sorry for the blurry shot. Not my fault this time!

I drove across the parking lot to Giant Tiger and Dollarama. A few purchases were made in each and I carried on down the street. I had quite a list and managed to find everything on it at Walmart. I did good but it was a big spend today, all 3 stores taken into account.

By the time I returned to the Ridge, I felt worn out. I don't mind grocery shopping at all but it is tiring. It was after 11 and I got everything in its place. The fridge is full again so after Bill got home, I moved some stuff out to the Bunky fridge to make room for his water thermos.

It was either Sunday or yesterday when our
10 (?) year old toaster gave up the ghost.
Today, I found one at Giant Tiger for a good price.
If it lasts half as long, we're happy.
We use it a lot.

It is always a big spend after the first of the month when pensions are deposited. After a delicious ham and lettuce sandwich for lunch, I sat back in Bill's recliner, by the window, thinking a snooze was in order. Hah! Just as I was starting to drop off, Gibbs started barking. He can hear Black Beauty way down at the corner.

I was stretched out in Bill's recliner and Gibbs
was up on the back of mine.
This was before he heard someone coming down the road.
Before my 6 winks of sleep. 💕

Sure enough, Bill was coming up the lane a couple of minutes later. They slept beside me, but my window of opportunity was gone. LOL I went to the Bunky to quill some more and made a couple pair of earrings in colours that I don't have yet. I think I'm addicted.

Sure, he's sitting with Mom
but you know where he is looking, right?
He loves us both equally.
(sure he does)

Bill was at the Hangar and Gibbs and I stretched out in the hammock until Daddy came up around 5:30 for supper. Tonight, we had tacos (YUMMY!) and the last of the cut up peaches and whipped cream. They have been quite tasty but the last 5, I will eat with cream in the mornings.

We were hammock-ing in the shade
and this was our view of the sun.

We cleaned up after our meal, Bill made his lunch and went back down to work on his plane. It is a very still evening. The sun has been plentiful all day, even through a haze. It got quite warm, 28C/83F with 60% humidex again. I should have turned the a/c on, but I didn't.

I love our tacos, real Mexican or not.
Love love love them.

What a nice day. The larder is full (does that cover fridge and freezer?) and we'll not lack for food over the next 2 - 3 weeks.

The green ones are so-so but I will wear
them proudly. I love the brown ones.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Cute earrings! I admit, it's a nice feeling to have lots of good food in the house so I'm not trying to figure out what I can eat. Mr. Gibbs ... he keeps an eye on BOTH of you!!

    1. Thanks Nancy. Simple earrings but I love having variety so why not make my own?
Mr. Gibbs, always on duty, right?

  2. It's always nice to make something you like and can use.
I know the feeling of having the fridge, freezer, and pantry full so there are choices. It's a good feeling.

    1. Hey Dee. Nothing special for the tacos. Just ground beef, drain, add a packet of taco seasoning and heat for 10 minutes.
We just add what we like. sour cream, shredded cheddar, lettuce and tomato.
