Hump Day under a Cloudy Sky

The Ridge

On Wednesday, Aug. 6th we were up with the birds and certainly before the sun made an appearance. Easy to say, since it didn't really show up until mid-afternoon! Bill was off to work and I was off to town to clean the Mat.

Good morning!
This was last night and I sure wish I
could capture the RED sun as I saw it.

The Mat was a mess again; I'm so ashamed to be in the same category as the people that leave garbage around like this. Anyway, I had to, literally HAD to, take the mop out first and sweep up all the papers, dryer sheets, blanket remnants etc before I could start.

A lovely morning but I didn't
realize it was this windy at 7 am.
See Bill's flag?

The sun is just beginning to pop
so I went up on the berm for these photos.

It was another morning of being by myself though, so no one could hear me grumble. Hah! The coin machine had a note on it and a washer as well. I messaged both to Sandy although I wonder if he will respond to the lady who wants her $4 back. LOL Not my problem.

I returned home immediately following since I didn't need anything else in town. I had a peach and banana in a bowl with cream after returning. I was feeling hungry. I offered Gibbs a piece of banana, for the potassium, but he turned up his nose at it.

Who are these masked men?
Bill and Billy took a selfie on the job.
Today, they 'blew' insulation into the attic
of a home in Listowel. Doing it safely too! 💕

With such a cloudy sky, I decided to plug us into power after all and bake some cookies. Just from a mix, so nothing time-consuming. I've had the packets in the cupboard for quite some time. Bill will enjoy the chocolate chip and peanut butter treats.........as will I.

On the home front, Gibbs and I do some
paper quilling.
While Bill was having his snooze inside,
Gibbs decided this was as good a spot as any
for his nap.

After finishing my last Jance book, I neglected to choose my next one so I did that when the cookies were done and sat with Gibbs until lunch time. This book is a Jack Reacher (😀) story called Better off Dead by Lee Child. Talk about grabbing you on the first page!

I had another ham and lettuce sandwich for lunch on my bread and it was yummy.  With that done with, we went outside to the Bunky. I made a couple of tweeks to two things I'd quilled so did those and then started on a card for my son's September birthday.

We were in the screen tent during
the 10 drops of rain.
I can't get over these Dahlias up here!

Bill was home early again today, no complaints there. They can only go so far when insulating, dry-walling or painting, whatever the case may be. After having last week off, a slow start-up is nice. M called me this morning to see about a run into town tomorrow. I expected it since I hadn't heard from him for a few days.

The grass almost needs cutting again
but it will have to wait.

We've had 'chance of light rain' in the forecast for today and tonight but Gibbs and I could have counted the number of drops we got the two times we opted to sit outside. In the screen tent, I felt a few since there are a couple of seam 'holes' that will need to be taped, maybe.

Simple but tasty

Supper was baked pork chops and corn on the cob. Nothing elaborate, it was plenty to fill us with an ice cream for dessert and a cookie. The Chapman bars are nice to have rather than the 1/2 gallon tub since we don't have room for the latter right now. We also eat less of the sweet treat this way!

Pretty sky tonight again

After clean up, Bill went to the Hangar and I worked on my blog. It's another lovely evening and I'll be making frequent trips outside.......just in case something exciting is happening. 😉

Nope, I don't wanna come in yet.

It's not the surprise I expected,
but now I know why Gibbs has been so interested
in what's under the Bunky lately.
This little guy just sat there looking at me.
Stayed in place for about 20 minutes so
I couldn't check on my Moonflower.
I don't believe it is blooming tonight anyway.

We reached a high of 28C/82F again today and it looks like the needle is stuck. No complaints here, we're rather enjoying it. Some rain overnight would be welcome though. What a great day!

Lastly, we're thinking of Bill's dad today, wishing him a happy heavenly 98th birthday! Cheers Dad!

Happy Heavenly Birthday!
Good night!

Thank you for checking us out today.

    1. Yes, he really does. The only difference is they part their hair on the opposite sides!

  2. I agree with Maxx, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! There certainly is a family resemblance.
Ugh, I don't understand people who can't see what's in front of them and pick up their mess. I live with two of them and it drives me nuts. :)

    1. yup, I told Bill not to wear his Dad's shirts after he passed, it was too weird!
It's easy to pick up after yourself, but if someone else does it for you........I walk into the mess. LOL

  3. Be glad it's only the laundromat you clean. Just imagine cleaning the bathrooms after Bingo. I just don't get it ... how can you be so disgusting. Do you do this in your OWN house? People can just be so rude. Gibbs is funny ... always laying out between you two, keeping watch .. and just maybe he'll have a chance to see the bunny or skippy!!

    1. Oh trust me, I am happier with the Mat now that the washroom is closed off to the public.
Gibbs is a real Hallmark. 💕🤭
