Today is a Holiday for Some, Not for Me

The Ridge

On Monday, Aug. 4th I was up at 6:30 and on my way into Durham by 7. One customer was inside when I arrived and I was done cleaning before he was done.

Good morning!

The sky this morning was hazy but it was still nice to see the sun rise for a change. Another nice day on the horizon. When I  got back home, Bill was working down by the Hangar on an airplane.

As I drove out the lane, the sun
reflects across the pond.
Of course, I had to stop for a picture.

Gibbs was inside so I let him out and went to work on the Bunky. I called it 'work' but it is actually 'play'. 🤭 I thought of something yesterday to make so started on it. No picture, one day you'll see it.

Well, well, well.
I do believe I am being teased.
Behind the lower left petal,
another one is preparing for another evening.

If you recall I was watching for my Moonflower last night, I kept an eye on it until 8 o'clock and when it didn't bloom, I closed the blinds. This morning what should greet us but what you see in the above picture....

I was ticked!! What time did it appear? Oh well, it still is beautiful and by 9:30 it was already fading and drooping. I see another bud so will try to catch that one. Maybe.

Bill was enjoying his last day off.

At 10:45, I made a coffee and had some cereal and peaches.  I was heading to Williamsford and would be there over the lunch hour. When I arrived at 11:30, I found the bathroom door was locked. 🫣

Highway 6 doesn't look busy here
but the videos below tells a different story.

Oh no! Robin had 4 guests coming tonight.  After trying on my own, to no avail, I called in the troops. Well, Bill, I  called Bill to come to the rescue. Robin was out of town for the day. Thankfully he got it open and I was able to get sheets to make the beds.  Phew!

                              I expected lots of traffic

I was home by 2 and went back to my quilling until about 4 when I came inside.  Eventually Gibbs came in too. He only worked security until 4:30 today. For supper we had baked fish, deep fried chips for Bill and I had cauliflower instead. It was delicious!

Not quite quitting time.
Yes, Bill was still at the Hangar.

We each had a drumstick for dessert and watched tv for the evening. What a nice day. Other than the locked door debacle, things went very well and we both earned a bit of cash.

I hope you had a nice weekend too. Back at it for many tomorrow, including my hubby. I think I have another free day. We reached a high of 27C/81F with a humidex of 56% so a pretty nice day.

                                   Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

  1. At least all of the traffic appeared to be going in the opposite way.
It's also nice to have your very own handyman. Good on Bill for handling the locked door.

  3. What Nancy said...lol!
It is hazy here, also. We have had air quality alerts most of the summer. The fires in Canada must be terrible and that is very sad.

  4. It has been hazy here for the last week with little to no break in the smoke. Thank heavens the air quality has not been as bad as it was for awhile. We were supposed to get rain today, but so far nothing. Means I will have to get out and water plants eventually. Hopefully when it stops being quite so muggy. I am glad that Bill was around to get that door opened for you.

    God bless.

    1. I know you've had it worse than us by a long shot, the smoke. No rain in our forecast either, of course you get it first and then kindly pass it along to us.
I was grateful that Bill wasn't working!
