No Valentine Earrings? No Problem! Night Flying

Park Place RV Park

It was 6:15 on Friday the 13th of Feb. when I heard Gibbs and Bill wake up. Yay! No reason to get up at any given time. So, I rolled over and dropped back off until almost 7:30. I've been having quite the dreams lately, just wish I could remember them. They've been good ones, lots of family involved.

Good morning!

Stephanie's cute little rv
looks lonely with no close
neighbours.

Bill left for the field under a cloudy, gray looking sky. I think at one point while getting dressed, he said 'there's the rain'. There were about 10 drop marks on Black Beauty. That's it. She's already a dirty mess so it doesn't matter. 🤷‍♀️

My Hike Footwear order arrived!
I'm excited that both Bill and I
now have earth 'boots' to protect
our ankles.
Not cheap but we're worth it.

I took Gibbs for a walk after my shower and actually was back into jeans again! LOL I was rather enjoying the shorts and skirts. Today just feels cooler because there is dampness in the air. We are still forecasted to reach 69F/19C.

It was pretty quiet at the pilot stations
when we arrived around 5.

Bill likes the early opportunity to
get a couple of flights in.
Bet you can't see his plane out there.
Look at the bottom of the clouds,
just a dot.

I knew we were in for a pretty evening
sunset.

Bill was home early from the field; everything is ready for their night flying and prepared for their big Fun Fly tomorrow. The weather should be perfect for everyone so I hope it is a great turnout.

Now I have Valentine's earrings.

I decided - since I didn't have any red earrings for Valentines - to make myself a pair. Kind of handy, right? So, they whipped up rather quickly and I decided to continue with earrings in colours that I don't already have. Yes, I'm a matchy matchy kind of gal.

Not all planes are big.
This little guy was so cute but
sadly he crashed on landing.
No problem, he can be glued back together!

We had lunch and my boys dozed while I started today's post. Bill met Tommy at the field for a final touch up, I can't remember what they did, and when he returned I had my cup of tea and took Gibbs for his walk.

Playing with the sunset.

At 5, Bill and I went to the field. I took snacks because I knew I'd get hungry. My pilot had 2 flights while still light and then one long 25 minute flight with his Radaint sail plane, all lit up once darkness descended. I couldn't get good pictures on my phone or in his camera.  Darn!

After the sunset, looking
down the row of spectators.
by the end of the evening all of the spots
were filled.

There were so many spectators tonight! We couldn't believe it! It was a gorgeous evening, after the sunset I donned my warm poncho and was toasty. Nice to see Tom and Deb, as well as Jim and Bill's fellow pilots. I haven't been out all season, maybe once.

We left for home around 7:40. More snacking but with cheese this time. 😉 It was a great day, and will be a busy one tomorrow.

Good night!

Thank you for your visit.

  1. I have the same pair of boots. Love them. Your earrings are cute. I love the pictures with the cactus pointing to the sky. Best to Bill and all flying. I used to travel but no more. Jean from Manitoba

I absolutely love the message behind this post! 💕 Who says you need Valentine’s earrings — or even Valentine’s plans — to have an amazing night? Confidence and creativity will always outshine any accessory.

This is such a refreshing reminder that style (and happiness) isn’t about what you didn’t get… it’s about how you show up anyway. Sometimes the best glow-up is realizing you’re already enough. ✨
