We Asked for Work, We Got Work!

 The Ridge

On Thursday, July 9th, because of the wet weather, Bill didn't work. They finished their job yesterday and there was talk of a fence for a new customer. He wasn't long at the neighbours last night, the mud didn't seem to be drying appropriately so within the hour he was back.

Good morning!
4 Moonflowers added to my count.

He spent the evening in the Hangar and I watched another movie. This one was called The Grand Seduction.....not at all what you first think. Completely 'clean' and a comical story in many ways about trying to 'persuade (seduce)' a doctor to stay in a small town in Newfoundland. 😉

Driving to Durham, this was my
view to the east before I turned.
Came out a bit spooky but
pretty.

This morning, I was on my way in to clean the Mat at 7:15 and was grateful for the light spatters of rain. Maybe that is why my little Rocky Racoon wasn't in the roadway. 🙏 The laundromat had 2 customers in briefly and I was able to make short work of leaving everything clean.

The rest of my drive was
cloudy and uneventful

I drove to Impact Tire and was happy that Paul flipped the OPEN sign over a bit early. It was only 8:20.....hmmm overtime, Jackie? 🤭 Kidding!! I got our C the A tickets and scooted home. Bill was at the computer, doing some calculating our finances. It's on our mind a lot right now.

When Gibbs and I went out
for a walk down the lane
later in the day, this changed
our minds.
Owen Sound was getting dumped on.
Rain won't bother me but Gibbs does not like it!

The 'what's coming in, what's going out, what's winter related, and what's daily expenses. I sat and finished my tea and had yogourt with my Beetroot dose. I can't swallow the capsules for some reason so empty the powder into plain yogourt and it's great! Done and done.

Instead we walked up and checked
my rain barrel and cherry tomatoes.
A couple of varieties here.
Most interesting, my first Midnight Snacks.
When the bottom turns red, they are ready.
(I had to google that!)

Robin texted that the bnb guests had checked out by 9:30 so 15 minutes later, I was on my way to Williamsford for the 4th day this week. Woohoo! I've done well! By this time, it was raining enough that my wipers were running intermittently all the way there. Good, no watering!

Some places around us had rain overnight but not us so this precipitation is welcome. I was in and out within my 2 hours (from the time I left home) and stopped to drop some washed floor mats at Robin's. The dryer was full of sheets and towels.

Her friend, Cindy, was in the garage with a sale so poked around a bit before returning home. Robin had a cute toiletries bag for sale that I thought would be perfect for my Ladyfest trips so paid the $5, no questions asked, and was home by 12:30.

Look at this beautiful entrance
to Dot and Gord's home.
The Coneflowers are ahead of mine.
The Hydrangea, lovely.
I've always wondered about growing
these.

Bill had gone over to Dot's for a short while this morning and discovered that the mudding formula wasn't going on the way he'd hoped so after lunch, he took a run into town for a few 'cut in' brushes and a small tub of mud. Is that what it's called? Then he went back to doctor up a few patches.

Their lovely home.
Gibbs was busy sniffing the ground
so I stopped for a picture.

I worked on my blog and went up to decide on something to wear for our 'date' tomorrow night after the C the A draw. I'm looking forward to a nice evening with CCR music. Gibbs and I stepped out around 3:30 to go for a walk down the lane and then next door.

With no dogs over there, I felt comfortable taking him over so we could see his Daddy. I looked to the north, Owen Sound direction, and the black cloud was onimous. Checking the radar we were about to get rain at any time so we came back inside and I made my tea.

He found Daddy but wasn't satisfied.
Someone I know lives here - somewhere.
He couldn't find Dot or Caper so
was ready to go home.
Lots of renovations going on.

An hour later, we tried again. Gibbs was on his leash and after a couple of false starts, carried on, soon recognizing Dot & Caper's home and then saw Daddy's truck. Bill showed me what he was doing while Gibbs explored, trying to figure where his friends were I'm sure. 🥰 We walked home.

When he couldn't smell the
dogs in the ditch anymore,
he hitailed it for home. 🤭

For supper, around 6, I put together a kind of sloppy Joe hash thing. Anything with ground beef makes for a nice meal, in my opinion, and Bill never objects. Ketchup (his fav condiment) is at the ready if he isn't keen. 🤭 I took a pack of rhubarb out of the freezer and we'll have it stewed for dessert.

Supper was delicious.

We enjoyed that meal. Instead of the bun, I had mine on spaghetti squash. Yum! Because the rhubarb was still hot, Bill went back next dorr for an hour or so and after it was cooled, we had it when he returned. I can hear Mom now. 💗"Eat a slice of bread with it!" My family will concur.

The air was still very sticky with humidity this morning but by mid afternoon, after the rains, it had cooled off nicely. Everything is watered well and proper too. My vegetables and Dot's too. She has2 (or 3?) raised garden beds and her plants are doing wonderful.

So yesterday, I mentioned staking
up our Flowering Rosemary shrub.
Now it doesn't take up so much
room. Not sure how long I'll keep
it - but the flowers are pretty.
🤔

This was a good day and since I haven't heard from Robin about another cleaning day, I'll have a day off tomorrow. We reached a pleasant high of 20C/70F, not to stay long and we'll be climbing again.Wooweee! I hope we like roller coasters, because that is what we're on!

With a day off tomorrow,
maybe I'll get my sign finished.
I have a couple of ideas.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping around. It's a pleasure to see your comments.
