Hangar Looking Great! Laundry and Bunky

Home on the Ridge

It was a good night of sleeping for me but Bill informed me that it wasn’t for him. He’d twisted his back somehow yesterday so was uncomfortable throughout the wee hours. 😟 At 6:30 I got up and joined Bill downstairs. It was sure a change in temperature from the previous days! I believe it was 49f/10C and my decision wasn't because of the cooler weather but I just wasn’t up for a walk this morning.

There was a lot of haze in front of the sunshine
to start the day
Instead, I had my tea with Bill and then after he put the garbage and recycling bins at the road, we drove into Durham to do a couple of loads of laundry. Once the machines were loaded, I walked to the Royal Bank and deposited my pay. Cha-ching! Bill helped me unload the clothes and we drove to Home Hardware. He needed staples for his gun and I always wander down the bird feeder aisle. I’ve never had a suet feeder so since they were a good price, I picked one up with the suet.

And the sheets were a little damp but dry when we returned an hour later
This is something that Chippy may ‘try’ to eat but he won’t be able to. Hah! The little piggy eats more seed than the birds do around here. I hung the clothes and Bill went down to insulate the doors to his Hangar. He needed my help at one point but mostly he works away on his own. He hits a snag and then figures it out. Ken W. the big doors are almost done and now he’s working on the little one. He needs another sheet of that material to finish the big one.

This is either a picture of the recycling and garbage
OR
a picture of Bill's Arizona tattoo
Inside, I made us Keto pancakes so we could sample that ‘free’ syrup. 😊 As usual, it was delicious and the pancakes were very filling. I emailed my siblings about my last three visits with Mom. Some of them live far away and don’t see her for months on end. It will be difficult for them to actually see it and hope they also find her smile rewarding enough. I sent Bill back out with the offer that I would clean up dishes. I have nothing pressing on my plate today.

Yummy!
It is a gorgeous day and I decided go through the Bunky and see if there is anything purgeable. I have a couple of ideas that I’d like to try and implement once the tv is gone and a few other things. I walked to the mailbox a couple of times, once to check on the garbage pickup. That’s odd that they haven’t picked our stuff up yet or the neighbours. We did see the truck go by in the opposite direction earlier this morning.

I’m so impressed with Bill’s Hangar and when he is pleased with how something works out, that makes me even happier. In the Bunky, I feel that I, also, made great progress. I went through all of the vacuum bags we have for sheets, pillows and extra comforters and blankets. Why do we have so much? I guess I’m trying to accommodate with a summer set and a winter set for the futon plus a blanket or two. I also like to have even a second set for summer in case we have an extra trailer here like we just did or like last summer.

Bill's Hangar flowers must be getting more lovin' than
the rest
They are thriving!
Still, way too much/many so I filled our old laundry basket full with stuff until it was overflowing and emptied 3 X-large vacuum bags in the process. Yes! I love that! Then after tidying up, I was able to reorganize my paint, gift wrap(bags) and sewing containers. That looks way better!  I moved Bill’s pillow and sleeping bag out into the truck for him and will check with him about a blanket as well. I survived my last (& first time really alone) so I’ll let him go again. Ha ha.

I'd have to hunt through pictures to show you the old plastic table
But trust me, this one is 100% better
After loading the ‘give away’ stuff and the bag of empty alcohol containers in the SUV, it was around 3 when I finished. Soon after Bill finished for the day too. I poured us a Caesar and cut some cheese for both of us. He opted for some Ritz crackers with his and then we sat and relaxed. It was a good working day because it was stuff that we wanted to do. I hadn’t even planned on cleaning the Bunky and look at what I accomplished!

We read our books for a while. First Bill drifted off and I continued reading. Then when he woke up (kind of), I had to close my eyes too. Just a little puppy snooze. At 5:30, I began sautéing our chicken thighs in Madame IP. Today, when they were done cooking (10 min.) and done with the Natural Release (10 min.) I took them out and crisped them up on the Weber with some sweet and sour sauce.

My suet feeder
A new experiment for me
Supper was yummy. With Caesar salad and Bill had some mushroom soup rice on the side, we had a tasty filling meal. I have one thigh left for my supper tomorrow night so that worked out well. We took care of the dishes and settled in for the evening. We’re not sure what the delay was but late afternoon our garbage and recycling was picked up. Bill was bringing Black Beauty over to the Suite so drove down to bring the bins back.

And the chicken was delicious yet again
The day was a really nice summer day. It started out cool but warmed up nicely by 9 and reached our high of 76F/25C. There were minimal winds so our awnings were out for the afternoon when the sun moved to the western sky. It helps to keep the Suite cool. Bill had his shower and I watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. I’m not bad at the Wheel but can usually only get a few of Alex’s responses on any given day. Oh well, it is fun trying.

This was last nights sunset but I bet tonight's is a pretty close replica!
Good night from both of us!
I hope you’ve had a good day. Thank you for stopping in!

Laundry in Blythe, Reuniting with Friends, Warmer Days Again

Bill and I were up shortly after 7 but not in any big rush. Usually when we do laundry there is a push on to get going early before the crowds. Today we were going to Blythe to get the clothes washed and then on the way back, we’ll stop in Ehrenberg. Our good friends, Ken and Nancy, from Illinois are camped there for a week.

Good morning!
We had our tea and coffee together while the Suite warmed up. We left the heater off last night as a test to see just how cool 37F would be when we woke up. Bill was up around 5:30 for a nature call and turned it on low at that time so it wasn’t terribly cold in here. I was downstairs first and it was still only about 14C/58F inside. Still brrr-ish.

One issue we found with no heat through the night, is that the heater then runs steady as it takes that much longer to warm up when you do turn it on. For the little bit of propane sipping it does all night, we’ll probably go back to leaving it on if it is dropping below 40F. I know everyone is different, every unit is different so it is a personal choice, as is everything else in this lifestyle. We only need to worry about keeping ourselves happy!

We got the laundry sorted, got cleaned up ourselves and loaded Black Beauty. By 9:45 we were all in, Clemson included. He was looking forward to seeing Molly again, I’m sure of it! We stopped in Quartzsite at Discount Solar to buy the LED bulbs we needed for the scare lights. A good price at $5.20 each and 2 backup lights at $2.80. Much better price this year, so we've heard.

Last stop was at the Chevron to fill up the tank. Decent diesel price at $2.82/gal. It was about 10:20 MT by the time we hit the road again. The lineup to get into the Big Tent parking was bumper to bumper again so it proves why we go early.

Leaving the Chevron were 4 Yuma Police on their motorcycles
Out for a lonngg joy ride?

George was in town earlier and before we left camp this morning, he handed us a coupon that we were looking to pick up. Thanks, George, for picking it up for us!

We found the Blythe Laundry & Cleaners on 3rd Street and there were a lot of machines empty and available. Perhaps not the cleanest laundromat but the washers and dryers were at least. We were finished within an hour and a bit and drove to Dollar General for something I needed. We knew we’d need to eat out so went to Carl’s Jr. for lunch.
Take out today
After our Happy Hour discussion about bread I decided to try one of their Lettuce Wrapped Thickburgers. I did order the combo though so I could get some fries and a drink too.

This was a yummy alternative to a burger on a bun and I will definitely do it again. Bill still enjoys his Big Carl combo. We got 'take out' so we could sit in the truck with Clemson while we ate. He enjoyed a few of the end pieces of our french fries too.

Heading east on I-10, the inspection station was slowing things down
From there, we took the exit to Ehrenberg and the Arizona Oasis RV Park. We arrived at Ken and Nancy’s site at a few minutes past 1 MT. Good timing! Needless to say, they were huge wonderful hugs that we shared. It was awesome to see these guys again. It seemed as if the conversation picked up from where it left off last winter in Bullhead City, Az.
I was almost too late catching this Ehrenberg sign
I love it though, and the firetruck
Can you say Relics?
Hey, we know that guy. Pick him up!
Ken walked up to meet us
there are a lot of turns and bends in the park
We made plans to meet at the Big Tent/RV Show in Quartzsite on Friday and then took the pooches for a walk. Or rather, they took us. Molly and Clemson are adorable and it doesn’t matter that they are indifferent to each other for the most part. It is a nice park and very, very full because of the show.

This is the old "are you sniffing me or am I sniffing you?" salute
Molly was immediately on my lap
Santa brought her the same name tag as he brought for Clemmy
And little Mr. Nose-out-of-joint, Clemson checks out who is on his Mom
Molly tries to get her Mommy's attention
Please please please pet me more!
We walked down to the beach area of the Colorado River and it is beautiful. Molly is their water dog, apparently. She headed straight to the beach and got her feet wet in the not just chilly, but cold water. She's hilarious!

The boat launch is straight ahead
The 3 men take the lead and us 3 ladies bring up the rear
It is very pretty along the Colorado River
Arizona, you say? Looks more like a tropical island
Molly waits for her photo shoot moment
Ah, there it is. See how the natural wind (no fan) is blowing her locks?
I added to someones collection of seashells
Lori, my friend, this is for you
It almost matches your orange one!

It was just after 4:30 when we started saying our ‘goodbye for nows’. Nancy had to show off her contribution to their new truck for me and we all laughed and said “it’s a good thing Ken loves ya!” 😊  We sure have a lot of fun and giggles together.

You have to laugh at some of life's events even though they aren't funny
They are both such good sports
We arrived back ‘home’ around 5:15 and weren’t surprised that Happy Hour was just breaking up.

Deb popped over just after we got in and brought us a map of the 4-wheeler trails in the area. We’ll have to pick a direction and take them up on their offer for a jeep ride. Bill brought our clean clothes in and we took turns putting them away. Him, his, Me, mine.

Supper was another easy one. We knew it could be a late return so planned something simple. Chili and leftover cheddar biscuits. Maybe tonight we’ll have room for a dish of ice cream for dessert. I talk a lot about our deSert home but that is 2 ‘s’s this time.

Oregon Strawberry and Peanut Butter Chocolate ice cream with walnuts on top
With supper and dishes done by 6:30 I sat down at my laptop to finish my post. It has been a busy day but a great one in our world. I hope you can say the same.

Happy Birthday beautiful Liz!
Before I sign off with my sunset photos, there is a birthday gal out there. Back home in Stratford, Bill's sister, Liz is celebrating a special day. We called her this morning to wish her a good one so I hope that was the case.

Good night all!
Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings today. Feel free to leave a comment, I will read it.

Portrait Sunrise, Laundromat, Brunch, Success in Bill’s Search, New Blogger Friend

It was 6 am on Sunday, Jan. 14th when Clemson had to go out so Bill got up with him, turned the Blue Flame on and then returned. At 6:30 it was my turn for a nature call and I crawled back into bed too. At 7, I realized that I wasn’t going back to sleep so got up, turned the hot water heater on and read blogs and comments for 20 minutes.

Stunning sunrise

What a beautiful sky! Even the moon was hanging around

By that time, the water was hot and I hopped in the shower. Hopped. Hmm, not sure why I always say that because the last thing we do is ‘hop’. Anyway, I left the bathroom door open to the hallway so Bill would remain in the dark, in bed, and the heat from downstairs would seep up to where I needed it. It worked well, by the time I wiped the walls and doors down and stepped out, I was warmed up enough.

On our way into town, the sun has risen
We had a mission this morning so without stopping to make tea and coffee, we brushed our teeth with our new-fangled brushes and loaded the dirty clothes into the truck. Arriving at 8 am found lots of vehicles in the lot of the Laundromat/Restaurant but we had lots of washers and dryers to choose from. We only needed two. Bill helped load the soap and clothes in before leaving me with my book.
Cute sign that tells it like it is!

Lots of machines to choose from
This place is always bustling with patrons and staff keeping it clean
He had better luck this morning, once K & B and Burly’s Tools opened to the public, than we did yesterday.

First off and most importantly it wasn’t so crowded and he was able to find a decent spot to park without walking ½ mile. He met me back shortly after I’d transferred from washers to dryers so we had about 15 minutes to wait before everything was dried.

The restaurant is at the front of the Laundromat
I went to the restaurant while Bill loaded Black Beauty and we were soon sharing a table with a young man I’ll refer to as Big Mike. He was alone, his dining partner was his cell phone, but it meant we would all eat sooner by sharing. No worries, not a peep out of him until he finished ahead of us and thanked us for allowing him to sit at our table.
You can plan your menu choice while waiting for
your clothes to dry

I dug in before snapping a picture
It was so good and lots of it
We drove home and noticed by that time, 10:30 the downtown was a-bustling again. The clouds had moved in to cover the sky but at least they were wispy and allowed the sun to heat up. I’m glad I was up at 7 as I was able to capture some of the panoramic sky to the east as the sun made her appearance.

These were my 7 am snapshots
We put our clothes away, taking turns in the closet and Bill opened the packages that he found today. A man with his tools, toys and little cases of ‘things’ is a happy man. That makes me, also, a happy woman as I know it means he has what he needs to fix things around the place.
Taking pictures like this proved to me that my camera lens is still not clean
I've had to spot touch about 8 or 10 dust spots

My conclusion: take shots with NO sky until i can get it professionally cleaned
this road we walk and drive on is like a cobblestone street in places

This fellow lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, if I remember correctly

These people have a nice location in the middle of the saguaros

I like the baby growths on these arms
This picture I left untouched so you could see the dust specks I have to remove
Grrrr!

The skin is slowly peeling away with its thorny spines
I missed my walk this morning, but Bill got some of his at the shops. He walks fast and covers a lot of ground so I need to get moving. I put my runners on and headed down the roadway to see what I could find. I took the time again, to clean my camera lens, to try and get what I missed the other day so took my Canon for a test run. I’m not counting on success with that, but don’t want to put it away until I know for sure.

this part of the saguaro skin had fallen off
While I was gone, Bill took the water bladder up to the water taps for filling. He had it back at the Suite and emptying water into our tank before I even returned. He said there was no one there so it was quick. He had 45 gallons of fresh potable water but we didn’t need it all. We weren’t desperate for water at all, but because we have friends coming to stay with us on Tuesday for a few days, we wanted things topped up and other things empty.

I love this, 3 fingers up
must be Triple A O K
We sat and read for a while and around 2:00 it was my turn to retire inside for a nap. Well, that didn’t quite work, too many outside noises, not to mention any names!

Little grumpy pants is giving me attitude
"You went for a walk without me?"
Anyway, I rested and after Bill and Clemson joined me (and managed to drop off pretty quickly) I got up and went back out with my book.

At 3 o’clock, or soon after, we took our chairs, a tea for me, a Coke for Bill, Clemson and a table over to George and Suzie’s site. Their turn to host and soon enough Tom and Deb joined us. It was a nice surprise to see Nancy Kissack from Kissack Adventures drive up and also join us for Happy Hour. None of us had met before but again through blogspot and our blogs, we felt we were familiar with each other.
The other day, Deb from Celebrating the Dance
gave us a couple of dish clothes that she crocheted
Thanks Deb!
It was a very nice time and Happy Hour turned into one of those 2 ½ hour Happy Times. Saying goodbye until we meet again, we exchanged info about our blogs and went on our way. I took Clemson for our late afternoon run down to the corner and back but still didn’t add much to my step total for the W.W. challenge.

Right from my empty chair:
Nancy, Suzie, George, Bill, Tom, Deb and Clemson
While sitting at Happy Hour, I noticed this sun dog to the northwest
Bill lit the barbecue and began grilling our pork chops and his corn. I steamed asparagus and made a salad for Bill inside. Mine was a large butt chop and I knew I wouldn’t need anything else on my plate. As it was, he had to help me finish it!

We cleaned up dishes and now the only decision to make is what pictures I want to download into my blog and what kind of pie we’ll have for dessert. Nice to have choices in life. Warning! Sunset overload.

Clemson and I captured these photos while on our walk/run

This has been a good day with a little bit of everything. I hope you have enjoyed yours too!
I couldn't decide on a favourite or two, could you?
good night!

Thank you for reading. I love hearing from you if you wish to drop a comment.
