Facebook Says the Party is Not Over, Perfect Sunday, Celebrating with Family and Special Friends

I woke up around 7 this morning, Sunday, Sept. 24th feeling refreshed and surprised that Clemson and I were alone in bed. I never heard my sweetie get up at all. Another perfect day is coming our way so I must get up and enjoy it! I sat with my tea and finished my post from yesterday. Once done, Bill and I went for a walk before the heat and humidity became too much.
If you look closely, you'll see the flies crowding the door
We wandered across Baptist Church Road so I could show Bill the foundation of the house on North Line. He is always interested in that stuff and can easily describe what openings are for where I am useless. I can’t picture the big picture if you get my drift. I would never be an active participant in the building of a home, not one to be present through every process. The designing, yes, and once the drywall is up then bring me in to help make further choices.

someones new home in the early stages
This place looked at first to be a big home but when Bill pointed out the double garage opening, it will be just a nice size at floor level anyway. There was a lot of water in the ‘basement’ level so that will be a deterrent until it dries up but the tresses and dormars are ready and waiting for their turn to be utilized. Bill is always surprised how soon these pieces are dropped off and left sitting before they are actually used.

When we returned from our walk Bill put the water bladder in the back of the truck and went to the Acreage to get more water. Donna and Gerry are there, actually have spent much of the weekend there for the first time in a long time. The weather makes that an easier decision, I’m sure. I killed a few more pesky ‘devils’ inside and then swept through the Suite. Then I closed windows and lowered the a/c temperature. It was already 26C inside.

With the bladder emptying into our tank, we had another cup of coffee and tea. This one was had outside in the shade. There won’t be much sun sitting today. Inside, I had some bananas and raspberries to use up so since we were plugged in anyway, for the a/c, I pulled out my blender. Time for a smoothie! Adding the fruit, milk, cream and ground flax seed I hit the ‘Smoothie’ button. I love these and since I only make them once every two weeks or so, it is like a treat for me.
Preparing to get water
Bill worked over at his cargo trailer for the remainder of the morning while I stuck around close to the Suite, in the shade.

At noon, I made us each up a stacked pastrami, ham, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo sandwich on a bun. It was quite filling and as much as we’re trying to avoid the bread, it hit the spot on a hot day. Hot days for me mean ‘simple meals and as little cooking as possible’. Luckily, my man agrees.

The afternoon went well with each of us doing our own thing. Donna and Gerry came over around 2 for an early happy hour and birthday wishes. They missed seeing us yesterday so even brought the bar with them. Offering us a drink from their ‘bar in a bag’, Bill had a rum w/ coke, Gerry had a rye w/ginger and Donna and I had a glass of Disaronno w/ice. Donna brought me a beautiful deep red dahlia from her garden at the Acreage.

At 3 our friends, Rob and Pat called and asked if we were home and would we like company. We haven’t seen them for a while, at least not together, so told them to definitely come and join us. We were moving down the line of the shade as much as we could while sitting under the awning. The sun was very hot and yet our sun shade wouldn’t have helped because of the angle we are on. The offer to move inside was given but everyone seemed content to stay outdoors.

This afternoon I saw this caterpillar
According to folklore, this means a mild winter
You'll have to tell us if it is true
When Rob and Pat arrived, Rob handed me a pot of lovely Hardy Mums in shades of yellow.

Pat gave me birthday cards including one from Aunt Mary. How nice. I didn’t see family or close friends on my birthday so today’s small gathering made it complete. It was so nice that they all dropped in to have a drink with us. At 4:30 we said goodbye but not before Pat asked for a picture of the two of us. She’s right, we didn’t have a picture of just us together.

Happy Hour with Happy People
When our company left, we caved and moved inside into the cool Suite. I felt zonked and knew it was the heat since I’d done nothing all day. Bill dropped off in his chair and I watched a program about Costco. It was quite interesting and even more so because we love shopping there. I think my eyes dropped closed for a bit too so I’m glad I recorded it.
If it weren't for the reflection of the sun on my camera lens
this would be a very nice picture of us two Pats
two great friends
Neither of us was very hungry so we settled for beans and franks for supper. After dishes, it felt kind of nice outside with the sun disappearing so I walked down the lane and to the corner. It had dropped from 30C to 26C.

A walk down the lane
This heat wave is supposed to stick around for another couple of days so we’ll be relying on our a/c for a while yet. Come Wednesday or Thursday, we’ll wonder who turned the heat off!

I thought I’d sit outside and read but soon enough a couple of mosquitos found me and that chased me indoors. Inside I finished my post and then sat with my book. I’m now reading Beach Road by James Patterson and Peter de Jonge. It is another good one with Tom Dunleavy as the main character. Someone new, but just as captivating.

Caught this picture and thought I'd play with the moon

I hope you have enjoyed this day. We can’t do much about the weather and because I complain about the cool and wet, you will NOT hear me complain about the hot and dry. It is what I've been waiting for.

    1. We had a nice little breeze yesterday off and on but you still needed to be in the shade to be comfortable.

  2. How nice when you're birthday can continue on with friends and family for a few days! I'm glad you got your hot weather for a few days! Those flies are everywhere! Ken had a bunch in the shop and he put up a fly strip, in no time the whole thing was covered with flies...disgusting! All the flowers are gorgeous. Mums always make me think of fall! Looks like a happy group enjoying the shade there!
