Some Days are for Just Chillin'

 The Ridge

On Sunday, Aug. 3rd, as the title suggests was a day for doing absolutely nuttin'. Well, that's the way I saw it and no one is going to argue. It was 7:30 by the time I woke up and that was to find Bill crawling across the bed with a goodbye kiss. 💖

Good Morning!
Although this was last night's picture
as we drove over to the Acreage.
Still a very smoky sky.

Gibbs gave a pre-emptive bark too so I knew he was coming too. With his little head tucked right in between ours, all we could do was laugh. Me too, me too! Bill connected his cargo trailer and was off to the flying field. Later, he told me that he couldn't get one plane flying so flew his sail plane today.

Our group around the fire was
much smaller than years ago when D & G
began having their 'campouts'.
Just 6 last night.

What did we do back here on the home front? Nothing, really. I opened up the Bunky, thinking maybe some quilling, and walked over to check my vegetables. I have one tall sad looking tomato plant with no evidence of producing, which is puzzling.

My little entertainer found
the feel of the tent bottom to be fun today.
Look at that eye in the left picture,
he knows I have the camera. 💗

However, the rest are loaded with green ones on the verge of turning colour. I also was pleased to see a couple of peppers on Thursday or Friday and they are coming along nicely. No egg plants, but it looks like flowers are forth-coming. The sprouts are a write off but at least feeding pests, keeping them off my other plants. 🫨

The apple tree at the road is
loaded and showing some rosy cheeks
on some apples.

After sitting on my backside for a while in the screen tent, I suggested to Gibbs that we 'check the mail'. Of course, there is no mail delivery on the weekend, but he doesn't know that and it gets him to know where we're going to stretch our legs at the very least.

On our way back, I stopped at
the small corral garden to pull
some tall weeds.
I left the thistle alone but was
surprised to see how tall this Evening Primrose
was!

While down at the road, we checked out the apple tree. Making up for last year's non-productive harvest, the tree is full with even some apples showing a tint of red. Is it really August already? I should get more in the freezer this fall. 😉

When Mike and his daughter's came to
pick up his trailer, Gibbs wasted no time
in jumping up in Mike's truck.
I guess we're just too mean to him.
Goofy dog!

The rest of the day was quiet. Bill got home around 1 and Mike and his daughter's came in before 2 to pick up his trailer for the week. Yay, a family camping trip for them! I think they'll have good (hot) weather and by the looks of the kayaks on the roof of Emily's car, they'll have fun on the water.🛶

Bill disconnected their hydro cord
and watched them pull out.
Gibbs sat nearby watching as well.

Bill and Gibbs had their snooze and I finished my book. Gerry and Bill had planned to install G's tv in their new cabin so Bill left us to go do that. I was hoping for a ride on Jazz this weekend, but things are getting in the way. I made a cup of tea and went to the Bunky after all.

When Bill went to the Hangar, Gibbs resumed duties right in the middle and when I came in at 5:15 to start supper, he waited outside until about 10 minutes before his Daddy came up before he sauntered to the step and inside the Suite. 😍

Supper was good, ending
with fresh cut up peaches and whipping cream.

Supper was pork ribs, ends mostly, corn on the cob and mini red potatoes done in Madame IP. They were quite tender after just 20 minutes of cooking and 10 minutes of release time. We cleaned up and I worked on my blog. My mind was also focused on the Moonflower...........is tonight the night?

It's after 7:30 and although
my flower is closer to blooming,
I don't think tonight is the night either.
I believe I have become a stalker!

It was a really slow, relaxing day for me today. We reached a warm/hot high temperature of 25C/78F but humid again. I hope you are enjoying your long weekend if it is a celebration weekend for you in your province.

This is another memory picture.
July 30, 2017 we had visitors at the Ridge.
Met for the first time,
Mr. & Mrs. Furry Gnome
George and Suzie were guests as well.

Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. I also had a day that nothing was really done around here other than making my list for next week and then going to visit our daughters grave.

    God bless.

  3. It's always nice to have a quiet day, especially on a long weekend. I haven't done much today, though I'd entirely forgotten it was a provincial holiday. Hard to remember what day of the week it is!

    1. I agree, the holidays don't mean the same to me either except that Bill gets a paid day off!
