Picacho Peak RV Resort
On Saturday, Oct. 25th since we had forgotten to reset our alarm clock back, there was some early confusion as to what time it was. The time reflecting on the ceiling when I first woke was 5:30. Gibbs had moved up beside me and I told him to go back to sleep, it was only 4:30. Even if that was the right time, it was too early.
I think it was around 6 that Bill took him out and he slipped into his recliner downstairs. Gibbs, of course, returned to bed with Mom. I could hear that Bill had dropped off so I was glad about that. He stayed up late, into the wee hours of the morning watching movies. 😀
I came down at 7, relieved for another day off the road. We had our breakfast and I got washed and dressed for outdoors. Gibbs thought that meant he was going out too, so I took him for short jaunt first. Then, I walked back to the southeast corner of the park to the pickleball courts.

Have you ever seen a cactus
up close?
So precise, so perfect.
Amy and Rick play each morning at 8 am and I wanted to go watch. There were 2 courts with 4 players on each and I paid close attention. The sun was beating down on the court and the players were getting a good work out.
I've never played so when Amy was finished, after a number of games, she took me to a private court, just the two of us, and taught me the game. I resisted for the whole time I watched but she is persistent and sensed that I was keen. 😂 The little imp, she convinced me.

I didn't push it, nor did she, knowing it was my first time and first bit of 'real' exercise for me. It was fun! Although I'll probably not play again or not for a long time at least, I can say I know the basic rules and would probably be able to hold my own. Thanks Amy!

I walked back and by then the 65F/18C had increased by about 5 or 6 degrees minimum. Bill was on the computer and Gibbs was happily gnawing into his new yak cheese bone. Finally. It takes a while to get one started and then he is hooked. 🐶
We had lunch together and while he snoozed, I began today's blog post. I've been admiring the number of large and well-cared-for cacti here in the park, so I took a few pictures to share with you. They are beautiful and healthy compared to what we see in the open desert.

So, at 3, I went to the pool.
It was quiet, just 2 or 3 others there
and I lay in the sun, reading after
a brief dip.
We walked back to Ken and Nancy's home for a visit. They have a rehearsal dinner later and a wedding tomorrow. We got puppy visits with Rocky and Gizmo, who entertained us and eventually settled down. If Gibbs had been there, none of them would do that!

I worked on the jigsaw puzzle a bit.
On the walk back, we stopped at Rick and Amy's home to confirm plans for dinner this evening and of course, had another doggy visit. This time with Lulu and Hanna. Yes, Hanna Lulu, teehee. Back home, I slipped into my bathing suit and walked the 50' to the pool. 😍
The water was nice, not too heated, and after a brief dip, I settled on my towel for the remainder of the hour. For 30 minutes, I went into the library/puzzle room and worked on a jigsaw. That's the first time in 6 months! I haven't lost my touch, haha.

A Yucca blooming near
the pool entrance.
Rick and Amy picked us up at 6 and we all went for pizza. Nancy and Ken were done at the party and joined us, just for the company. 😉

A pretty sky tonight after sunset
What great pizza! and wings! and breadsticks! Oh my! But Rick, you should not be treating us! With hugs for everyone, we said our goodbyes, it has been great.

This is good pizza.
A meatlovers and a Hawaiian
Rick sent some of each home with us.

This was a good day and tomorrow we move on. We reached a high of 84F/29C and only dropping to 56F/13C overnight. I think we're in heaven.

A happy group of campers.
Of course I didn't forget our own
little pooch.
So tired, enjoying our quiet day.
Good night!
Thank you for your visit.

It looks like another spectacular day any way you look at it. Great friends, great weather, great food, great views.
ReplyDeleteI love the cactus.
Safe travels.
Deb
Thanks Deb!
DeleteLooks like a nice park to hang out. I drive by it often, but have never gone in.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very nice park, Nancy.
DeleteA nice visit day. Just what you two needed before moving on.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of the cactus, and the blooming yucca looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Such a lovely post! Beautiful and captivating photos. I had never seen a cactus up close, but thanks to your wonderful photo, I have now! I love animals and jigsaw puzzles, and enjoyed seeing these photos as well! The pizza looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing, and warm greetings from a retired lady living in Montreal, Canada.
Beat you...it was 92F when I reached Laughlin mid-afternoon. Too darned hot for this Canadian girl but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
ReplyDeleteLove the cacti - I think I saw the soapbox ones you shared yesterday outside of Vegas. I sure wish there were more places to stop safely for photo opportunities. But, then again, I'm eager to get to Yuma so I probably wouldn't have stopped anyway. :)
Safe travels tomorrow!
