The Ridge
On Saturday, Oct. 4th I was able to sleep in as long as I chose. What a nice feeling! That being said, I was still up at 7. Good grief. Anyway, I woke up feeling wonderful again, no aches or pains today. Bill was up earlier and left for the flying field around 7:30.

Good morning!
The Blue Jays are back
and I don't mean the ball team.
Gibbs and I sat together while I had my hot drink and tea and then a cut up banana with cream. At 9, we went down the lane with gloves, hat and clippers. It was already heating up. I trimmed the small branches in a few spots and piled things along the lane for pick up when Bill got home.

Methinks someone got up
too soon. This was within 15 minutes
of Bill leaving.
In an hour, I was done, done, done. In more ways than one. It was extremely hot to be crawling around in the ditch snipping trees and branches so we came up and sat in the shade to cool off. I got washed and changed into a summer dress and drove to town.

I would have been hard-pressed
to name this wildflower that is all
over the Ridge so thank you to
Furry Gnome, I can call it
the New England Aster.
It is beautiful.
The Lion's Club Harvest Fest, that I didn't get a table at, was on today and I wanted to support the club and my friend, Trudy. The community centre was full of about 30 vendors so I walked up and down the two main aisles admiring the talent. π
Being inside, Trudy didn't have a canopy tent for hanging more of her items but she still had a nice display. Her crocheted huggables are so special. There were a LOT of people with crocheted items but some of hers were totally different. Weighted for exercising? Awesome idea! I hope she did well.

| I was outside when I realized that I should have taken pictures indoors. Sorry, there were a lot of vendors! You can almost see the heat from that sun. |
I chatted with Doug, Terri and Sheena from the club before taking my leave. I needed fuel and I wanted to drop off the bottles and cans that I've collected at the Beer Store. No snivelling at the $2.40 in my pocket from next to no effort on my part. Most came from the bnb recycle bin. π

The Canada Geese are also
back, gathering for their flight.
I wonder if they are packed?
I was starved (seriously?) when I got home at 12:30 and since Bill wasn't home yet, I made a toasted tomato, cheese and lettuce sandwich for lunch. It was just settling when my sweetie drove up the lane. He parked his cargo trailer and came in to make his own sandwich.

Gibbs likes to get right down in
the brambles too.
Bill takes a full load to
Durham dump.
Then we changed and went back down the lane with Black Beauty and the dump trailer. Another load in an hour and Bill took it to town. Too hot for that but we are getting close to being finished with the trimming etc. for the fall. I still have a couple of gardens, well 3 or 4, to clean off and we'll cut grass once more.

These pictures won't mean as much
to you all, but I'll be looking back on
them in the spring to see what's
growing back. It's a big change for us.
We popped over to Donna and Gerry's and picked up a new blue recycle bin. They had 2 delivered at their house in Hanover because it used to be a duplex, with 2 entrances. We didn't get one here, we think because we have no house. Duh. Anyway, they are the large ones that the trucks pick up from the 'kerb'.

He works so hard, don't ya know?
After a visit, we returned home for supper. Fish and chips tonight and maybe our usual Saturday night snack later. Some habits are hard to break and we enjoy them! The meal was delicious and I didn't have so many fries that I feel guilty. π

When one shaded spot gets too warm,
he just moves.
We cleaned up dishes and Bill went to the Hangar. He had a great flying morning today, got 3 flights in and tomorrow will be his last one this year, at this club, with these guys. He'll be sad about that, they have such a good time but a new group awaits in Quartzsite!

| Gibbs keeps his eye on this caterpillar. Seems it is the spotted Tussock moth caterpillar. There are way too many around here for my liking. Everywhere!! I usually flick them with my fingers, away from me. |
Winding down, I've started packing vacuum bags with the wintry-type clothes as well as the work shirts and shorts that Bill won't need for 6 months. We've toned down some of the weight-bearing things we take that we don't need to, so that's a good thing and we're not done yet.

Some clouds moved in for a bit but
didn't stick around for a prettier sunset.
I've had a great day. Feeling good always trumps those 'bad' days and I hope I haven't overdone it by working outside. I do want to apologize if I offended anyone in yesterday's post - re bnb guests. I just don't have to look at names to understand what ethnic group rented, it is obvious.

This was our supper.
Easy to prepare and tasty on our
palates.
We reached a ridiculous (but lovely) high of 29C/84F and since it is Ontario, haha there I go again, it will not be surprising to learn that on Tuesday, our high will be a LOW 15C/59F and Wednesday, below freezing temperatures overnight. It is fall and all that justifies our early departure!

Oct. 4th, 2018
Looks like we were far ahead of
the packing up than we are now.
Perhaps because we have
more stuff! LOL
We need to purge!
Good night!
Thank you for popping in.
