The Ridge
On Thursday, Oct. 9th I woke up counting Day 7 with no discomfort. Happy girl here. I was up and moving by 6:15 as I had made a date, so to speak, with Darlene at the Mat. I wanted to walk her through my regular cleaning routine.

Good morning!
Yup, a frosty one too!
Bill warned me that we had been hit with a heavy frost overnight, so, with my scraper not quickly accessible, I sat in the car until windows were cleaned off. It didn't make me any later than 7 since I was up early enough. Darlene was a few minutes after.

Still at 9:30, the picnic table
was covered.

And the field, still frosty
in the shaded areas.
I was pleasantly surprised when, while waiting, Trudy walked in to do her laundry. That girl always puts a smile on my face. I will miss her this winter, bumping into her at the Mat and seeing her newest crochet creations.

Have you ever seen anything so
adorable? LadyBug is now adopted
into the family and will travel
with us. She is weighted down by
bean bags in her belly so won't
go anywhere.
💖
She gifted me with a beautifully done LadyBug! She is weighted and will make a great travelling companion! 😍💕 Thank you Trudy!

Back home, we cut and gathered
more brush.
If you look for something blue,
you'll know why I took this
picture. Rascal, he is.
In showing Darlene the ropes, I basically just touched on one of each thing to show her so that meant when she left 45 minutes later I had to go back and finish doing the rest of the machines and the floor etc.

Bill had foam sprayed the
hornet's nest. It needs to be gone.
It was easy, he cut the branch
and because they were either
dormant or dead, he was able
to step on it and it went in the
dump trailer too.
As it turned out the clothes that I had placed in the two washers on Tuesday we're still there, so that meant no one came back to claim them. I put them in the dryer and folded them and drop them into the lost and found before I left.
I'll give the 'owners' one more chance to claim them and then the items will either go to ReThreads for resale or they'll go to our exchange where someone gets them for free.

The Sedum is still happy.
The Dahlias are not.
I stopped at Impact Tire and bought our Catch the Ace tickets from Jay, sorry I missed Jackie, and then I scooted for home. I thought Bill might be in the lane cutting brush and although he wasn't there he was on a mission and soon had the big trimmer going.

Last load this year.
I hope we can borrow the dump trailer
in the spring again to continue
in areas we couldn't get to.
Look at that sky!
I don't need to tell you that my man did not stop all day. From the moment he started he was just an Eveready battery of energy. I don't think I was a slouch, after cleaning I did come home and helped him clean up what he had cut down the lane and we filled the dump trailer for the 10th time. When the dump opened at noon, Bill was there. 😉

When I got up from my recliner,
a twinge in my upper thigh had me
stretched out on a blanket up
on the berm.
It was heavenly, and the twinge was
gone when we were done relaxing.
Actually, we played a lot.
While he was gone, Gibbs and I checked the Dahlias. I was not surprised that our frost had finished them off. 😔 I was willing to wait a few more days to dig them up because they are so pretty! Oh well, today it is. I snipped them off, in the 4 locations, and dug up the bulbs for Donna to store over the winter.
I had first found the air cool, it wasn't more than 6C/42F, so layered up. After helping cut, load and dig, I was sufficiently warmed up and one hoody came off. I'm a wimp in the cold so forgive me for being anxious for our departure when this weather arrives. It did turn into a lovely day for outside chores.

A little cuddle bum and Mom
isn't complaining.
We had lunch together and he went out after a snooze, hopping on the mower to cut the back, front, berm and my area before he put it away. Told ya! He can't stop once he starts, but he/we didn't want to come back in the spring in mid-April and have to cut too soon.

Lots of apples on the tree
at the road.
Not very good looking though,
I'm glad I collected when I did.
While he cut, Gibbs and I dozed for an hour! I couldn't keep my eyes open and felt completely done in. At 3, my pooch went out with me and when I felt a twinge from sitting in my recliner, I laid a blanket on the berm and we lay in the sun for almost an hour! What a cuddle bum we have. I loved it! The sun was gorgeous in that clear sky.

Gibbs and I walked down the lane
and he decided the pond was a good
place to get a drink.
When Bill got the weed trimmer out, I was not surprised that he did everything before stopping. That left the Ridge looking great and now we could focus on other jobs. The shed, bringing lights and flags in, emptying the rain barrel, packing both sheds and taking the shelter down.
He will need a day or two to sort out his hobby, what he wants to take, is able to take and finding a spot for everything. A little more challenging than the small spaces that my stuff fits into! We had grilled burgers for supper and finished with an ice cream bar for dessert.

| Bill jumped from one job to the next, taking full advantage of the nice day to complete tasks for the last time this fall. |
This has been a great day. 13C/55F was our high but in the sun with no wind it felt quite nice. Another drop tonight to freezing but my kalanchoe, mini rose and caledium are all inside for the night. My Buddy got home from the island today so I hope to see her again soon.

Our burgers were no disappointment.
I'll credit the Chef!
Good night!
Thank you for popping in.

Oh what a busy day!
ReplyDeleteI think your Sedum can stand a touch or two of frost. My mother called it Live for Ever, she had it everywhere, and it was a hardy plant.
Deb
I do love the changing colours of the Sedum and I love your mom's name for it!
DeleteThe Ridge is looking SPIFFY! :)) Cuddles with Gibbs look wonderful! Blue skies look great! 3 days of rain here thru Sunday - YUCK. May have to go out for a burger Mon. after the rain!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, the Ridge is getting tidy and barer by the day. Ha ha. At least we have some dry days to get things done.
DeleteSooooo……verdict on the grounding sheet? Did you buy the full sheet or half? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAfter 3 weeks of sleeping on it, I would say that I am sold. It didn't take that long, of course, for any reviews I read so how honest were they? I don't know. I bought the whole king size fitted sheet and after a full 8 days of no pain, I'm sold and don't regret the purchase.
DeleteThanks so much for the review. Did you buy on Amazon.? Would you share the brand you purchased ?
DeleteThe twinge when you got up from your recliner has me guessing it is the cause of your sciatica pain. Every time I've had this trouble for a few weeks, I figured out it was what I was sitting on was shot. Once, an outdoor plastic wicker loveseat with a cushion, the new cushion didn't fix it. Other times it was my couch, my recliner & chair that came FREE with my bedroom set. Lawnchairs have a time limit. Happy that you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I totally agree about the recliner. I need to avoid sitting with the foot rests, that is the only time it seems to tweak my sciatica. I like hard dining chairs and certain lawn chairs because yes, I agree, they have a time limit. :)
DeleteCute crocheted critter. The weather is getting colder. Time to head south with the geese! You certainly got a lot accomplished in one day!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she darling? I loved her at her market show and she saved it for me. ♥
DeleteBill is definitely an energizer bunny! Ticking the list of things to be done off is satisfying.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me, I need to dig up the gladiola bulbs.
My gladiolas didn't do anything this year, so I'm not even worried about finding where they are living! ha ha
DeleteI love the lady bug!
ReplyDeleteGibbs, sure tried to hide in the bushes. Love the Ladybug, it will make a great traveling companion. My goodness Bill got so much completed.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hi Patsy, always read your daily posts, thank you so much for them. I am so happy that you are traveling to the States. Canadians are not visiting/shopping/spending money in my state. Dee
