The Big Tent Opens!

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Jan. 17th Bill and I had basically one thing on our mind. First, we were not on call today and the Big Tent event opens today. It is officially called the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV show and runs from Jan. 17 to 25th.

Good morning!
We're sitting in the parking lot waiting
for the gates to open.

We do love the hustle and bustle of this first opening day. We were up by 7 and out the door at 8 am after a bowl of cereal for breakfast.

The blue arrow shows where we park for
an easy exit.
70,000 square ft. of vendors space.
The town grows from approx. 3,000 pop.
to 1,000,000 during the winter season around
the big tent event.

We each took our tea and coffee because there would be a wait until the gates swung open at 9. Tom and Deb, Kim, Ken, Sarah and Ainsley waited with us in the line. A lot of people gather here and the 3 aisles were crowded inside the tent. The tent is 650' long and 100' wide.

Here is the hustle and bustle.
Inside and outside.
Want an e-bike? you can test ride one.

This is considered the largest gathering of RVers in the world, not surprising with over 230 vendors offering everything you do and don't need. We parted ways with our friends upon entering and found our way around.

For the last 3 years this man
gets our business. Well, he gets Gibbs'
business.
Yak cheese bones are the best!

We came home with....well, my bag had lots of freebies includings food treats, bag clips, lip balm, cloth carry bags, hats, pens and key chains. It is just fun jostling with the crowds to see what is offered and gaining information if we need it.

I like the fun of seeing what is
free. Oh yes, a shot glass and ball for Gibbs
to chew up too!

It was 10:30 when we returned home. Bill picked up a portable charger for our phones and that will be useful to us on Jazz when we use our gps. Maps always uses up battery power quicker than anything. We had lunch and rested for a couple of hours.

Gibbs and I went for a walk and
came home with more fruit.
Bill made a quick run over to the field
where the club had a Swap meet on
until noon.

Bill and Gibbs (who stayed home) dozed and I worked on leaves for the wall hanging in the clubhouse.

He just likes chewing things apart.
He no longer eats them so it was funny
watching him entertain himself.
This is the white ball from my freebies.

At 2:30, we loaded the cooler and drove out to Roadrunner BLM to have Happy Hour with whomever was around. Turns out, it was just Kim, Ken, Sarah and Ainsley but it was still a fun visit.

It is very busy in the down town
area.

We were home shortly after 5 for grilled cheese sandwiches for supper before time to relax.

Happy Hour!

I wanted to glue my leaves on the frame but when I saw the football was on over there, I decided to stay home. I don't care to listen to loud sports commentary.

Supper

It was a quiet evening. Bill watched a movie while charging plane batteries for tomorrow. He hasn't flown for 4 days! I wrote my blog and settled down to watch some tv myself. This was a great day! A high temperature of 74F/21C under a clear sky making it down right perfect.

Good night!

Thank you for your visit.
