The Ridge
My statement above is true but it would still be nice. On Sunday, July 5th I was up shortly after Bill and Gibbs got up at 6:20. When the little lovebug (Gibbs) came back to bed, I was on my last stretching exercise. I got a quick kiss, Gibbs-style, and that was it.

Good morning. The Moonflowers are winding down. Only 5 this morning and one of which, really didn't make it open.
I thought how grateful I was that the laundry was already done this week, and jostled for kitchen space with Bill to make my tea and get on my way. He was happy, as I was, that although cloudy, no rain was in today's forecast. We believed them this time. 😉
I said goodbye first and drove to town just before 7. First, I went to get water, then a stop at Foodland to get a couple of loaves of our bread. Lastly, the Mat where the regular couple were waiting for their laundry to wash. It hasn't been too dirty lately, a blessing in disguise.

Filling my water jug, I saw two bunnies nibbling on the flowers and hiding in the hostas.
I was out of there and back home by 8:30. That gave me an hour and a bit with Gibbs before I turned around and went back. I sat with him, played my games, changed into presentable 'selling' type clothes and headed back in around 9:45.
I got into my spot, set the table up and the chairs out of the trunk when I realized I'd forgotten my big cardboard introduction sign that sits in the back of Ptooties. Blimey!🫢🫣 A lot of my bookmarks were on that tree, and earrings but most importantly my name.

Waiting for traffic, already at 7:15, the pretty sky across the street from Foodland caught my eye.
So, I moved things to the alcove of the building and went back to retrieve it. It only took me 20 minutes there and back. When I had put things in place, Derek Goodchild, from the food truck, wandered over.
Greeted me by name with a teasing remark about Peppermint Patty (I distinctly corrected him "Not Patty" - ever). Then he proceeded to offer a suggestion which had us moving my table to face south instead of west, right along the sidewalk's edge.

I walked across the street to get a picture of my new location/set up
Now it was just visible from the east and south entries of the intersection. So, we backed Ptooties up alongside with the hatch also facing west. Much better! Within 10 minutes, I had a customer. She didn't buy much in monetary value but earrings and a bookmark were my first sales today. 🥰

Waiting for traffic, again, I looked over and Derek had settled in my chair. He tweaked his back a few days ago so said he was 'just resting'. 😂
It was quiet for the remainder of my 'shift', other than the occasional pop over from Derek, but I made a good dent in the first 5 chapters of Lee Child's The Sentinel. Oh my, it is such a great time passer.
It was nice to see Dot and Emma pop by, another sale, and that Brecken! Grinning the minute I looked in the stroller at him. I gave Derek a greeting card that he was going to buy for his Mom, for his initial suggestion and help with my new set up. He's a really sweet young man.

When I turned in our lane, this struck me. My lilies and primrose are stealing the show.
I packed up shortly after 2 and saw Bill drive by just as I was finishing up. No regrets on the day at all and I'm not feeling discouraged in the least. I unloaded Ptooties when I got home, just as Bill was finished doing the same.
We all crashed in our chairs, not necessarily intentionally. I was trying to read! After a phone call from a Toronto friend about her husband being in the hospital, Dot stopped over to purchase a hanging owl plaque for her grandson's room. Aah, thank you so much, Dot!

A nice evening for sure but we're all finding the pesky little flies are back. 😡
It is only 23C/74F but the humidex it 67% and that is what wears us down. For supper, Bill wasn't hungry but I was, only having eaten cheese, zucchini, clementines, yogourt and a pepperoni all day. I did remember to take snacks into town today. I fried up a couple of smoked sausages and he had a yogourt.
Bill made his lunch, word is that he has work tomorrow. I finished my blog, he went to the Hangar and I'll find something on tv or read more Reacher. This was a great day, making just under $40 was an added bonus!

I didn't have many pictures today so when my s/w friend, Bette, posted this on FB, I had to copy. Cute and Good night!
Thank YOU for popping in.

The entrance to your place is beautiful! And thanks for sharing the RVers prayer, I love it 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you MT. I loved the prayer too.
DeleteCongrats on your sales! Every little bit counts, plus it's tax free! Glad the rain held off for you.🙂
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna!
DeleteYour flowers look amazing!! I think the best part of selling your items is meeting all the new people!!
ReplyDeleteEven if some didn't buy, they were very complimentary on a craft they've never seen. Thank you Nancy!
DeleteWow, the entrance to the Ridge looks great!
ReplyDeleteNot having too pay for setting up your table, as is common for craft sales is a benefit. Are there other vendors out too?
Thank you Maebeme. I love the entrance as well - especially when the flowers are in bloom!
DeleteNo other vendors but maybe there will be. It's a free for all.
That looked like a fun way to dip a toe into the craft fair stuff, and you made some mad money to boot! Love how gorgeous the entrance to the ridge look.
ReplyDeleteThank you WTTLtL. Maybe one day I'll venture further but for now, this is fun and my neighbour in the food truck is hilarious (& helpful).
DeleteYour property looks beautiful but I know you both work hard to keep it beautiful. You made $40 and read 5 chapters. That's sounds like a great day to me!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elva. Yup, a progressive day to me too!
DeleteGood for you on getting some sales. I am sure once people see all you have to offer there will be even more.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
