Counting our Blessings Today, 😊 Days Are Warming Up.

The Ridge

On Tuesday, May 10^th Bill was up and almost ready before I even heard him or Gibbs. I rolled over at 6:30 and realized he’d be leaving for work within a few minutes. Gibbs and I said goodbye and we stayed in bed until 7:30. Lazy bones, we are! Once I was up, I rejoiced that our fridge is working again. So, I emptied the cooler and the bar fridge, putting things back as they should be in the Maytag. 😊 😊 Happy happy! Then I wiped out the bar fridge and the cooler and carried the cooler out to the SS.

We went outside for our walk and Gibbs misbehaved and when he found some goose poop and wouldn’t ‘drop it’ or ‘come’, I decided on ‘no walk’ today. He followed me into the Suite because he saw I had the leash. He knew I was upset, I’m sure, and upon telling him he was a bad boy, he went up to the bedroom and stayed there on the bed for over an hour. Again, he didn’t eat his breakfast. Last night, I forgot to mention that when Daddy came home, he cleaned yesterday’s morning meal up at supper time.

We had a pretty quiet morning, inside, and we made friends again. ♥ I can’t stay mad at the little guy for long. Outside the winds had already been gusting quite strongly. When will it ever let up? I had my oatmeal around 10:00 with my coffee so I didn’t need lunch. After getting washed, I walked over to M’s at 12:45 to help him post his business ad on Kijiji. It isn’t easy working on his older phone so I was back and forth between that and his laptop. It isn’t the easiest but I thought I got it posted and I walked home an hour later with $$ in my pocket.

The rest of the day was spent with Gibbs. I let him run loose for a few minutes before putting him on his rope leash. We sat in the SS (I guess I need a new name for it!) and I worked on a few crafty things. Gibbs was quite happy to be with me and stayed close to me. He didn’t have a lot of choice since he was tethered but that’s okay. I need to know he’s safe.

We moved outside around 4 after I’d finished my tea and the sun was wonderful. It was still windy but quite pleasant for sitting while we waited for Bill. I was in the sun and Gibbs was in the shade beside me. 😊 Bill came up around 5:15, all covered in drywall dust but still smiling. I play second fiddle for hugs as Gibbs obviously is more excited than I am. Plus, I don’t jump and pee on his legs. Ha ha.

For supper, we had warmed up leftovers. Pork loin, roasted potatoes, gravy and corn and it was delicious. There is a small piece of meat left so I can eat it for lunch if I choose. The day was a warm one, reaching 24C/75F and this is the kind of weather we’ve been waiting for. After loading the dishwasher, Bill and I carried the bar fridge out to the SS and suddenly things are back to normal. ♥

We watched tv together, recorded This is Us and New Amsterdam for later viewing and I worked on my blog post. I have a cleaning job in the morning so want to get it done tonight if possible. This was an awesome day and I’m a bit selfish in saying that I’m so grateful for our fridge being repaired. I say that because I know our friends in north western Ontario are still waiting after 2 months for theirs. ☹

Sad to Say Goodbye, Fridge Repair?

The Ridge

Monday, May 2^nd began another ‘work week’ but not for us. We kind of only work when we want to. 😊 We were up by 7:30 and each had our showers before starting the day. Two things happening today: Mr. Appliance was coming, first appointment of their day, to install the new mother board in our fridge and our friends were moving on to their next destination.

Being full time rv’ers, like us, they move around for the summer to various locations, unlike us. They are also members of Harvest Host so have new adventures wherever they go. David and Juliette from Mr. Appliance arrived by 8:30 and left by 9. Duncan and Patty dumped their tanks and pulled out before 10.

So, I thought I'd try and grow an avocado tree

It is always sad, in a way, to see our friends leave but we are happy to hear that they may possibly be back at the end of the month. 😊 As for the fridge, after our company left, I came inside to start on our grocery list. We need to start over in the fresh food and meat department. However, the fridge had to cool down before we could move anything from the bar fridges and cooler into it.

Lunch was tasty

After a couple of hours, it wasn’t cooling down, although at first the freezer seemed to be cold. I made us poached eggs on toast for lunch and we checked it again only to discover that the temperature was rising instead of dropping. LOL so Bill placed a call to their office and they will be back at the end of their day.  So, here we are again, waiting. Blech!

It started out as a drizzly morning but that has stopped and now it is just dull. With a forecast of 10C/50F to 13C/54F over the next few days, we aren’t expecting miracles but with the low wind today, it feels relatively mild out there. I was going to bake a cheesecake/pie today but that was when I thought our fridge would be ready to use. In this case, I’ll wait.

As I said yesterday, my rash is definitely gone. I wish the cold had followed it but it is still hanging on. It’s better, bit by bit, but now Bill’s is at its peak. ☹ He put a small heater on in the Hangar and went down to putter around. I never know what he’s doing but he has a tv and his planes so he isn’t bored, that’s for sure! Gibbs and I stayed up here and just hung together. I turned my vet shows on around 4 so that entertained us.

David and Juliette arrived around 6:15 and because Gibbs wasn’t settling down with them in here, he and I went out to the Bunky to listen to the radio but mostly to keep him out of the way. It isn’t warm out there so I covered up in the blanket and for a while Gibbs would sit with me on the futon but mostly, he lay at the door pining for the action inside the Suite.

Bill came out to tell me that they determined that not only the mother board was blown but also the fan motor, which explained why the fridge wasn’t cooling down. Unfortunately, the one they had in their van was not suitable so a new one has to be ordered. Good grief! I had a feeling it wouldn’t be fixed today so here we go again and yes, more expense at the end of it all.

Bottom line, we’re still using the bar fridges and cooler but tomorrow I still need to pick up a few groceries. We’re running out of food! When they left, around 7, I reheated some of the cooked ground beef and cooked a box of mac and cheese. Blended together they made our supper and it tasted quite good! I thought I had some veggies in the cupboard to add, but I didn’t.

We loaded the dishwasher and sat and watched American Idol. Gibbs seems out of sorts tonight and has gone up to bed already. It’s only 8 o’clock. He did eat his supper at 6 though so that is good. ♥ This was a good day but things didn’t quite work out as planned. Stay tuned!

Another Accomplishing Day! Now, This is Spring! Fridge Repair?

The Ridge

Friday, Apr. 22^nd, I almost want to call it Good Friday because of the way it started out! 😊 I won’t, because that could be offensive to the real holiday. We were up by 7, after another awesome sleep. I think this being home and having no travel days on our plate is doing us good right now. Gibbs and I went for our walk and the little guy had fun walking in the ditches now before the grass gets too high. I let him off leash at the end of the lane and he raced ahead of me to the porch. 💖

Bill was out the door at 7:30 on his way back to Hanover. He was stopping at Ideal Supply again to pick up a GFI breaker. These things aren’t cheap! Holy $200+ Moly! Anyway, it is a key component in running 5 of our outlets so worth it. Pay the bill and ‘fahgetaboutit’. Then he drove to Donna and Gerry’s for another bladder full of water. We wouldn’t need all of it but over the net couple of days, we would.

It was a nice little walk this morning

I have a fashion store that I rather enjoy shopping at, especially looking for sales, but sometimes just to treat myself. It’s called MacGregor’s Fashion and I am on their email list. Well! I knew they had their store, home and beautiful property up for sale all last summer so wasn’t entirely surprised to get an email mentioning their closing sales. I thought I’d miss it but when a second one came in announcing possibly the end of April, all things 70% off, I was tickled that I would get one more peek. 😊

So, when Bill returned, I went. There isn’t a lot left, considering what they used to have, but even at 70% off, I didn’t need pants or tops enough to pay her prices. They start at $115 and it is really beautiful name brand stuff. Like Joseph Ribkoff (whom I’d never heard of before). I’m not a brand name shopper.

I did find a pair of ‘sweet’ looking shoes in my size, 2 glass hummer feeders and 2 dragonfly hooks from their ‘garage’ stuff. ♥ She gave me the shoes because they were hers.

On the way home, M had asked if I’d stop to help him send an email to an insurance company for him, with pictures so did that. What he did all winter without me, I’ll never know. He has other computer related things he’d like me to help him and his friend with but I told him not until I’m done doing our own stuff. He was good with that.

Bill and I got the bike and mower shelter up and because it was such a gorgeous sunny 58F/14C, we decided to go back to Murray’s and get the bike. Bill looked darn good riding ahead of Gibbs and I in Ptooties. ♥ I can’t wait for the warm weather to come so I can go too! We were home by 3:30 on time to wait for our fridge guy to come. The new time was 4 to 6 pm so fingers are crossed he shows.

That is a few big things taken care of today and Gibbs ran around outside helping where he could. He has been quite good at coming inside when called, as long as we are both coming in. 😊 We have my family side’s Easter dinner tomorrow at my nieces so I’ve been torn what to take. I don’t want leftovers as I have no more room in the small fridge. If it gets fixed tonight, yahoo, but too late to plan then.

Bill brought out Coolatron inside this morning so the fridge is empty and all condiments are now packed in there with a few stragglers out in the Bunky, where it is still cold enough. I clued in while making lunch that we have a lot of eggs so I cooked 16 eggs for devilled eggs. Easter = eggs, so they should be fine. I might nip into town in the morning for a dessert of some kind. Leftover dessert is just fine if I buy something we like!

We received an email advising of a delay and our techs arrived around 6:45. This gave us time to reheat our precooked burgers. You know what? They weren’t half bad either! We had double cheeseburgers so we were eating them up quicker and they were loaded. Onions, cheese, pickles, mustard and ketchup. They were pretty filling and by the time we finished, Mr. Appliance’s van was coming up the lane.

David and Juliette seemed to know what they were doing and although I sat outside with Gibbs, who behaved very well, Bill filled me in that the news isn’t the best. The ‘mother’ board is shot but it isn’t evident exactly where it’s been damaged. See for yourself.

We were quoted a price, the board will be ordered tomorrow and they pulled out by 7:20. As I said, they were good, knew their stuff and determined the issue fairly quickly. Hopefully just another week living out of a small fridge and cooler. We both know that it could have been worse so are counting our blessings. 😊

It was a calm evening and nice for Gibbs and I to be able sit outside while they were all in and out and in and out. We will be dipping to about 40F/5C overnight and another mild spring day tomorrow. Too bad there is rain in the forecast. The night was a quiet one and Gibbs is konked out on the floor under my chair. ♥ He is sure enjoying himself here with his freedom and the fresh air.
