Lila and I Attend Another Fun Class

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Jan. 3rd I woke up at 6:45 after a strange night’s sleep. Last night, I was so tired that I didn’t even watch tv. Instead, after finishing my blog post, I decided I’d finish my book. It was 7:30 or so, so I had lots of time, I figured. Wrong! I am really enjoy the story and characters so I was surprised when at 9, I had to close it (with just 4 chapters left!) for the night. Bill and I exchanged places and I went to bed.

Good morning!

I love the bottom picture.
It looks magical.

Good idea, as I dropped off right away, but was awake again before 11 and couldn’t drop off completely for a couple of hours. Grrr! Willing myself to go back to sleep didn’t work, ha ha, does it for you? 😊 Anyway, I could have stayed in bed longer this morning but that would mess up my whole day. I don’t like sleeping in past 7, 7:30 at the latest. My walk was good, a bit chilly but mostly because I didn’t wear my windbreaker OR my down jacket. Duh.

By the time I was heading out for class,
the sky looked like this.
I layered up since it was still only 49F/9C

Back home, Bill went to the field with Duncan, who is feeling quite a bit better. I had my tea with Gibbs and then we went for his walk around 9. My plan today was to take Lila to class. According to my gps map, it is 11 minutes by bicycle and after doing a practice run yesterday, I knew exactly which way to go. It was straight forward to Plymouth Rd, across onto Sunrise, a straight flat ride from there to I-95N and the Desert Camel is right across the highway.

This is my creation..
Not perfect but I am happy with it.
If I were going for perfection, I wouldn't be taking a class!

I arrived a few minutes before 10 and when Linda and Deb arrived, we went in together. Jess was already inside setting up. I could’ve easily rode with her but I wanted to push myself to do things out of my norm. Riding Lila was just that for me. There were 6 attendees, 3 newbies, and we had a great time. Poor Jess, I hope we didn’t upset the class too much, there was a lot of goofing around. 😊

The nose in the air, sniffing something.

We made dreamcatchers today; everyone’s was different in colours chosen but they all turned out great. Looking forward to Wednesday’s class already! A couple of regulars were missed so hopefully we’ll see them return at another class. The bike ride home was in warmer temps so I felt more winded and was happy to make it back. I’m not sure if there is an incline on the return stretch but I was working it!

An indication of a pretty evening sky coming up.

Bill and I had the last of our casserole and then while he sat downstairs with Gibbs, I went up to the bedroom with my book. Determined. Nope! One more chapter down and I had to close the book again! I caught up with a snooze and finally by 3:30, turned the last page. I can return the book to Bette, she will enjoy it. It is quite mysterious. 😊

I wasn't wrong but I didn't see what the
west sky was like.

Gibbs and I went for our walk and some days, I’m sure that little guy is possessed! He took me in a variety of directions, with his little snout more in the air sniffing than on the ground. We had a good walk and he made me laugh more than once. Finally, he decided we could return home to Daddy. I made a tea and Bill poured himself a Coke Zero. He was working on his Christmas Spitfire model. 😊

I'm not sure I like the oven-ready noodles
as much as the one I boil myself but it was still good.

For supper, we cleaned up the lasagna and the apple pie. Counting the casserole at lunch, that’s 3 dishes of leftovers removed from the fridge. We’ll have to start over tomorrow! This morning it was a chilly but respectable 43F/6C and this afternoon, under mostly cloudy skies, we reached a comfortable 70F/20C. This is winter and we’re loving it – a lot.

Our class creations.
The two marked with a blue line are
Jess's. She always makes what we make. 💓

This has been a great day! Not to create a mystery myself, but receiving some good news from home was a bonus. Just trust me, it was great! 😍

This was last year's picture
January 3, 2024.
Good night!

(PS - just Sue, the manager, and I showed up for game night. We had a nice 'get to know each other' chit chat for 30 minutes and returned home.)

Thank you for the pop-in.Your comments are always welcome.

Cool Start to the Day, Ride with Lila, Some Sun-Sitting

Park Place RV Park

On Thursday, Jan. 2nd we woke up to a cool morning. Our weather station showed that it was 40F/4C and when I stepped outside for my walk at 7:15, I didn’t doubt that. I was layered in my down jacket and poufy vest, thermal leggings and mini gloves though, except for my cheeks, I was plenty warm. Well, I had no hoody today so my ears felt the chill too. 😊

Good morning!

By the time I rounded the corner from Plymouth Rd onto Coyote Rd, I was undoing the zipper on both jackets. It was a great walk, perfect time of the day to be out there. Back home, I made my tea and had some cereal with half a banana. After walking with Gibbs, there was nothing on my daytime schedule other than what I chose to do. Gotta love that!

It is a fun puzzle and I'm sure it won't take long
to complete.

It was around 10 when I made my bp coffee and ventured over to the clubhouse to work on the puzzle. The lady who started it had the border done (pieces were separated in the box) and the sky so she made a good run at it. 😊 I worked in the bottom corner. I love the picture, a desert scene, it almost seems familiar but I’m not sure since I haven’t signed the back of the box.

On my bike ride this afternoon,
I saw this Saguaro that may be flowering (on top?)
or it's a very healthy growth. It appeared yellow
but I couldn't see it well enough.

I had to stop for a picture here.
Reminds me of a ranch.
I love the fence and stone designs from
one end to the other of the property.

I worked at it while Bette packed away the Christmas decorations in there and at noon, came home to have lunch with Bill. We each had another piece of the C.M.W.S. breakfast casserole with maple syrup. Rather than go back to the puzzle, I sat outside with my book, in the sun of course, and then hopped on Lila for a nice bike ride.

You asked for a picture
so Bill took one for you.

When I returned, Bill was prepping our generator rack/hitch on the back of the Suite to add my bike rack. He’s had it figured out for over a month so finally had the chance to get it done. He doesn’t give up.

Bill drilling holes in our rack that
holds the generator.
On the right, Gibbs and I relax.
The sound of the drill was soothing (kind of)

I sat in the sun again with my book while he worked. LOL We planned a simple supper as he has night flying and I have games night over at the clubhouse. We’ll see who shows up; this park has turned into a dud as far as guest attendance. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

On his afternoon walk, you know what this is?
Indecision while he figures which way to go.
He chose the short in-park walk this afternoon. 💖

We ate early so both events could be accommodated and the remainder of the evening was quiet in front of the tv. My book is extremely good, another great mystery with Armaund Gamache. It is keeping the pages turning quickly. 😊

Beef meat pies and sprouts for me.
Bill had the pie with bread.
He will eat his pie when he gets home after dark.

We reached 72F/22C this afternoon and will be a few degrees warmer overnight. The winds have died so Bill and other pilots should have a good night at the field.

After Christmas, we hung our new sign.
We love it!
The shape of Ontario.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by!

An Easy Going New Year’s Day Starting with Coffee! (Sky pix overload)

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, JANUARY 1st, 2025 we were all up and moving before 7 am. Happy New Year! If you are one of those people who make resolutions, I hope you’ve made yours. I stopped that years ago when I realized that, like about 9% of the population, I could never follow through for the entire year. Often, it was within days that I quit. Woops!

Good morning y'all!
I love the silhouettes of the residential area
against the morning awakenings

Now, if life has been going good for the past year, I generally just hope to keep doing what I’m doing. Since coming south, I have got myself into a pretty good walking routine so that would be a goal – keep it up even back home. We’ll see. Things seem to change after we get home, for one reason/excuse or another. 😊

The show starts

I did get dressed this morning and head out for a lovely walk at 7:15. A mostly clear sky kept me warm in my down jacket and poufy vest and there was no wind to speak of. The sky in the east did some magical things with the clouds, turning them pink and mesmerizing. I love how they looked so fluffy like candy floss. Hmmm, haven’t had that sweet sticky treat for a long time!

I kept turning to look back to see
the changes.

Back home, I skipped making my tea and only had ½ a banana and ½ a grapefruit for breakfast. Bill was getting ready to go flying, alone again, planning for his first flight in 2025. Duncan was still under the weather so he stayed home. Hopefully, he is seeing the end of the virus he’s caught. I took Gibbs for his walk (the other way around) and he did his normal small block walk. 😊 He’s predictable, like me!

Candy floss anyone?

I added my cream and Splenda to my mug and walked over to join in at Coffee Hour. Sue had made delicious muffins today with coffee, so I had one and filled my cup. Sadly, other than the hosts, just Jess and I made an appearance. Sue goes to the trouble of making it nice for the guests and only 2 of us show up? I feel bad for her. Hopefully, today was just an off day.

The first sunrise of 2025

Bette left around 9:30, with encouragement from the rest of us as she was meeting a group to climb the Q mountain! Go Bette! That’s awesome. Bill and I climbed in our first winter here, 2016/17, with our friends, Melinda and Gerry. We had fun and it was an amazing view from the top. Jess and I stayed until a few minutes after 10, just chatting. She had a 25-mile run yesterday in Phoenix, so planned a rest day today. Awesome!

Before baking

Back home again, I popped the Christmas Morning Wife Saver breakfast casserole into the convection oven. Not sure why it needs an hour to cook (as Bill asked) but it did and we enjoyed it very much at 12:30. I was quite famished for it too. I used ½ keto bread and half Bill’s regular white bread and no difference was detected. 😊 I had planned lasagna for supper tonight, so prepped that before going out to the gazebo.

Ready to eat
I added some maple syrup to mine.
It's much like French toast (with meat)

Patty asked about a walk around the big block within minutes of me getting out there but we haven’t seen much of each other since this ‘sickness’ entered our camp. I took her up on the offer. 😊 It was good to get out and after Gibbs’ long walk later, I flew past 10,300 steps today. Whoa! He has started taking me down to Quail Trail St., across the back of our park and over to Coyote Rd. before bringing me to N. Riggles Ave.

What a lovely New Year's Day

Bill had his batteries charged for his Timber, which he got 3 flights out of today, and was upstairs watching tv when we returned. I painted a bit more on my rocks and Bill and I had our celebratory drink (which we skipped last night) for our own Happy Hour. Seagram’s Jamaican Me Happy coolers are quite tasty and went down fine.

Gibbs has a new afternoon walk route.

I had the lasagna in the oven before 5 and we enjoyed a nice meal for our first supper in the new year. I wanted it to be nice. We had the last 4 of my homemade dinner rolls from the freezer and after some apple pie, we were filled to the brim.

Yup, we pigged out for supper tonight!
Yum!

This has been a nice relaxing day. We reached 69F/20C for our high today, not bad for bringing in a new year, eh? 😊 I hope your day was just as awesome.

Good night and Be Well!

Thank you for the visit.
