Great Day for Winning Cash and for Meatloaf! Bill at the Show

Park Place RV Park

On Tuesday, Jan. 21st it was 6:45 when I rolled over and Gibbs crawled up on my chest to greet me. Thanks for the kisses, little bum! I did my stretches, yes, my back is still acting up but after I do the stretch and block routine, I can rise easily and make the bed. It doesn’t bother me the rest of the day, go figure. I still figure I’m fortunate.

Good morning!

Sounds like back home, there is a virus (so many different names for it) going around so some of my family are suffering. Bill did manage to pick up the head cold again, he had it a couple of days before the big tent so we can’t blame that. It seemed to bounce around with club members and our neighbours that no one knows the cause. Plus, the windy days brings it in from elsewhere too. I’m still blessed.

I apologize for the blur (it's not your eyes)
but this is the only shot showing the wind that
Nancy and I walked in this morning.

Nancy and I went for our walk at 7:15 on this bitterly cold (for Quartzsite) morning of 36F/2C. The wind was already blowing in our faces as we turned west on our route so let’s just say we forged on. By the time we turned east again onto Coyote Rd. we were at least comfortable, if not warmed up. 😊 Gibbs greeted me at the door and Bill greeted me outside as he was ready to go to the tent for Day 4. Just a half day today.

Our little visitor has been coming
every day, morning, noon and night

I had turned the blue flame heater on when I noticed the Suite was only around 62F/15C so it was perfect walking into. I know, that is plenty warm for some of you folks back home, not mentioning any names, (Bridgette and Chris), teehee. The morning was pretty ‘free’ to do what I wanted so I had my cereal, tea and went for a walk with Gibbs. Still only 45F/7C at 9.

Walking with Gibbs this morning, the
sun never disappoints

The winds weren’t to be too bad today so I popped the gazebo up before coming inside. Nancy and I met at the puzzle around 10 and worked our way through the bakery – well, the donuts. Lunch at 12noon was another bowl of soup but when I went to heat it up in the microwave, it wasn’t responding. Oh no! It has been giving us hints over the last few months (very rarely) that it was not well. Hmm.

Our donut puzzle is coming along nicely

I tried a few things but to no avail and heated it up in a pot on the stove. I left Bill a note at 1 and walked over with my pennies to play Pokeno. Nancy met me there with Sue, Angie and Barb. Back home, I knew Bill would also try a few things before we made any funeral plans.

The sky was pretty as
the sun departed for the night.

Nancy and I started out losing pennies, left right and centre but before the games were done, we refilled my container and she began a nice collection of her own. Yay! She won Black Out, which was exciting! It is small ‘potatoes’ in the gambling world but the fun and social aspect makes it feel like a win-win.

If you don’t know Pokeno, it is similar to Bingo, using pennies to fill certain numbers on your card. Full House, 4 corners, diagonal, 4 of a kind, centre and a row is Pokeno. The winners of those, get the pots of pennies collected from each hand. At the end of 20 games, Black Out is the first person to fill the whole card. That means .25 from each player. Woohoo!

Our second oven is large and had
to be retro-fitted when we got it.
We'd hate to have to go through that again!

When I walked in the door, I noticed the time was visible on the microwave. I should have know my handyman would fix things. I had planned to cook a meatloaf in the clubhouse oven but now I don’t have to. Bill said the plug, which is in an upper cupboard (one thing I didn’t check!) was loose. Phew! That saves us some $$ right now. Happy campers again!

This is a picture of Gibbs on our
security cam.
I'm at the puzzle and he is standing guard.
Such a good little watch pup.

Gibbs and I walked and then I made a cup of tea. Bill and Gibbs had their snooze while I mixed up the meatloaf ingredients. We have cooked potatoes to fry up and veggies to add to the meal. The day warmed up to only 59F/15C but we had full sunny skies until about 4 pm when some wispy clouds moved in. That may make for a pretty sunset.

It was a good meal and
we have leftovers

Supper was delicious, I can’t go too far wrong with meatloaf, it’s one of Bill’s favourite things that I make. We cleaned up the pots and mugs and watched some tv together. This wasn’t a hot day but it was better than what others experienced. I hope it wasn’t too bad where you are.

A quick peek at the booth Bill and Tommy
are looking after this week.
They are doing an awesome job on their own
and getting lots of interest.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

  1. Quite cool there today. I keep my house at 78. I don't like cold.
