Cloudy, Soup Saturday!

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Jan. 25th I was up before 7 and out the door at 7:15. Nancy and I decide the evening before about our morning walk and either of us can cancel in the morning via FB messenger. 😊 It was so cozy in bed this morning that it crossed my mind but I really enjoy the early walks, even if it means bundling up. I’m Canadian, I know how to bundle up!

Good morning!
How's that for a calm start?

It was a calm morning, the corner flag is clinging to the pole today. Yay! We met Betty and her husband just as they were starting out, when her walking friend, Nancy, doesn’t go, he steps in. I think that is really nice. He walks with the forearm crutches and does well, using them as support. Back home, I made my tea and had a bowl of Rice Krispies.

The moon hadn't set yet.

Clouds do make a sky beautiful

Gibbs’ turn was next so out we went. He walked really well and decided on the long return route instead of cutting through the park. 😊 He’s maybe counting steps too! I was telling Nancy this morning that I really hope to keep up my morning walks back home. Maybe not so early especially on the days I clean the Mat (if I still have that job!), but I hope to put the fear of bears on the back burner and just go. (Safely).

We thought it would be easier but still
we finished it in.......what 2 days?
The pieces were crazy shapes but it was fun!

Nancy and I met at the clubhouse, unplanned, and finished that silly YELLOW puzzle. It was only 500 pieces which was why I chose it first. It will stay here at the park; likewise for the other ones I brought so I’m not carting them home with us. The gift ones will go back with me though. 😊 This yellow one was fun, with many little tiny things to find and it was the odd-shaped pieces that were the challenge.

While I made my soup, Gibbs
stayed upstairs with his playmates.
'Bone, ball, Hippo, Stuffy (still around), 2 parts of Tigger
and 2 parts of Santa. He loves them all equally.

I went back home at 11:30 and starting preparing my soup for this afternoon’s potluck. Broccoli Cheddar is my contribution; Bill won’t eat it, but there will be other choices as well as salads for him to choose from. Bill was home from the Big Tent before 12:45 so Tommy had arrived early to relieve him. It’s a fair trade and tomorrow they will both work the full shift on the last day.

I see a bit of clearing here and there
We walked the park with Nancy and Cooper before 4.

The clouds have been in control of the sky since early this morning which made for a pretty sunrise. The temperature is hovering around 60F/16C with no wind to speak of. We may reach the high of 67F/19C around 5 pm and that is quite nice since there is no sun.  When my soup was finished, I turned Madame IP off and will reheat the soup around 3:30 before taking it over. I haven’t had it for a while so will enjoy it.

Gibbs and Cooper are so cute together.
I keep missing their nose touches with my camera.
But when one marks a post, the other goes back to redo his. 💓
Even if it is just a drop or two.

Bill and Gibbs went up for a snooze so I sat and read a few more chapters of my book.       Bill was feeling a little bit draggy this afternoon and since he isn’t into the whole soup thing anyway, decided to stay home. I totally understood and at a few minutes before 4, carried the pot over with Nancy and joined Jess and Jessie at our ‘round’ table. 😊

Plenty to fill us up at the potluck.
Fresh baked bread, Spinach salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad (w/olives!)
Potato soup, black bean, sweet potato and kale soup and
'to die for' Brownies.

There was just a small crowd today, maybe 12 participants, 3 salads, 5 soups, bread, rolls and brownies for dessert. Everything I tasted was very good and the company even better. I plated one of Jess’s ‘to die for’ brownies (isn’t that what they’re called?) and brought it home for Bill. He was still laying down but got up and made himself a grilled cheese sandwich for his supper. I have soup left for a couple or three or four days which is awesome.

For my friend, Patti.
This is my very soft sweater from the big tent.
It even has pockets!

This has been a nice day ending with a hearty meal with friends. We didn’t make it to the forecasted high but the sky cleared out completely by 5 pm. I know weather everywhere is way off of the norm but I hope you enjoyed it wherever you may be. By the way, tonight when I took Gibbs out at 5:30, it was still very light out! The days are getting longer again! Yay!

a cute security camera picture.
My sweeties, sound asleep upstairs. Ssh, don't wake them.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit!

  1. I noticed how light it was just before 6pm. I took the dog for a short walk AFTER dinner! The daylight hours are REALLY advancing now.

  2. Other than one time I have always smelt the bears on my early morning walks before I have ever caught sight of them. Once I smell them I turn around and go back home. And the one time I didn’t smell him and came around a tree to go face to face with him the bear quickly turned and ran away … but it did give me a good scare!

    1. I don't know if I'd recognize a smell like that. I walk on the gravel road so I think I would see one before it was too close anyway. That would scare the *** out of me too!

  3. What? Parts of Stuffy still exist? I'm surprised you can even tell who is who! Dinner was delicious. Glad you got better pictures than I did.

  4. That sounds like a good dinner with friends on a cool'ish day. It warmed up nicely here, we reached 21C so Happy Hour was quite nice, especially as I had a spot in the sun. We did have smoke though, as the sun turned red at sunset.
