After 10 years, it's Time

 The Ridge

On Thursday, Oct. 2nd, I didn't even get up when Bill left at 6:50. I did roll over, got a kiss and wished him a good day. Last night, I didn't sleep well. My restless legs were keeping me awake and that may have been because I felt cold.

Good morning!

The lighter weighted duvet felt warm enough but I just couldn't get comfortable. So, Bill left and Gibbs and I remained right where we were until 7:30.

This is Robin's pick up location
Contact-free for ease.

My only commitment today was to clean the bnb after 11 so I took my time getting in motion. My sciatica was being a b**** too, so slow was the 'motion'.

What a shame to have to walk through
their garages to put a book in the house.
I wonder if James Bond is missing his
Aston Martin?
I wonder if she'd take me for a ride
next summer?

I stopped at Robin's home and set out a couple of things for her sales on Marketplace and th en drove to Williamsford. It's a beautiful day, warming up again here in the neighbourhood for a few days. Remember the last group of guests? Well, read on.

So, last night since I'd stripped the sofa bed,
Bill got his drill out and removed the
metal frame and mattress.

I read too many Stephanie Plum
disasters......thought I'd never see Bill
again!

I was duly impressed with the two ladies who stayed at the bnb for 2 nights. Let's just say that I could pronounce the names under their comment and maybe that says more than we think. No dishes in the drip tray, the bed was stripped, a couple of towels in the basket, garbage outside in the bin and a new bag in the kitchen.

Let's stand it on end for more
room, he said.
It's still heavy!

Whoa! Who are these people? The Ladyfest girls? 😀 Great guests, that's who. I reported all this to Robin and was out of there in an hour. By the time I got home, she had paid me. I stopped in town for our C the A tickets and cashed in my winning Cash For Life ticket for 2 more.

The poufy cushions at the back of the couch
were filled with these pillows of
fibrefil. I couldn't bear to throw it out.

I was happy to be home, still hobbling around, and Gibbs and I went upstairs to lay on the bed. I was asleep in no time and woke up 30 minutes later when Gibbs let me know his Daddy was coming up the laneway. Bill figured it would be a shorter day.

With the Sawzall, he made short
and quick work of the 'cut up'.

He had a headache from fatigue so we rested for another 30 minutes before getting to work. Home work was to dismantle this monster of a sofa bed. Yes, after 10 years, it is time to go. Bill came up with the idea a week ago and we're both anxious to have it gone.

In pieces, it fit nicely in the utility
trailer, tied down ready for the dump,
dump, dump.

It never gets used as a bed anymore, and rarely does it get sat on as a sofa. It is peeling and has to be covered AND has just become a depository for anything we bring in the door until we find a place for it. We'd rather have a table and chairs over there for crafts/hobbies and what have you. 😃

On the way home from town,
there it is.
A bit of a colour change for now.

Bill brought a Sawzall (?? you know what I mean) home from work to use and within an hour, the whole thing was apart and outside in Gerry's utility trailer. I retrieved the fibrefill from the back cushions and it is clean and amounts to about 3 large garbage bags full.

It's nice to see the full window at the
back of the Suite.

I will give as much to Trudy, my crocheting friend, as she wants and the rest will go to the second hand store. I hope she takes it all! She has all winter to fill her little crochet buddies. 💕 The Durham dump would only take the metal so we dropped that off and returned home. Bill will take the rest on Saturday to Bentinck dump.

Years ago, 9 in fact,
I bought a binder for storing dvd's.
One of the smartest things I've done.
I've purchased a few more so before
supper, began adding them.
Alphabetical order, of course, and
with their paperwork.
It makes me want to see these movies
again!

I vacuumed the area and keep looking at the empty space, happy to be able to see and open those windows again. It is still in progress, you'll see what we do when we do it. For supper, Bill grilled sausages on a bun and they were filling.

Finally, my narrative catches up
to the pictures. 😂

After cleanup and his lunch, he reconciled some bank statements and we relaxed for the evening. I watched Survivor last night and no spoiler but I'm very pleased with who was voted off. Not sure what I'll watch tonight.

Seems no blog is complete
without a picture of our baby boy.

This was a great day, aside from the 'you know what', reaching 21C/70F again with clear skies. It's a calm evening.

A pretty sky tonight.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit today!

  1. I get the feeling the grounding sheet isn’t do much? Magnesium glycinate really helps my restless legs.

    1. Well, that's my dilemna too. I can go days without pain and then 2 days with. I guess I'm expecting too much.

  2. More room to Lay On The Floor. Get down there girl. You said you felt great the day you tried it, but you have to do it. It works for the burning back I get from standing at the kitchen counter, too. Five minutes or less and I'm good to go. Yes on the magnesium for the legs, too.

    1. Thank you. I still get down and lay on the floor, not every day, but have been laying on my block too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I appreciate the suggestion. I used to take magnesium...........need to pick more up.

  3. I've always heard that heavier blankets help you sleep better. That was a big job, taking out that couch! Kudos to Bill for getting it done. Can't wait to see what you do with the space.

    1. I don't think duvets are supposed to be heavy though. it'll work out, We have small blankets to pull up if we're chilly.
Getting the couch out made sense, we don't/didn't use it enough to warrant the space!

  4. I agree. I get gummies from Amazon. Mag Glycinate. I can send you the link if you want (no affiliate). They really work well!

    1. I will check Amazon out, thank you. I have a hard time swallowing large pills so gummies would be great. Please send the link if you don't mind.

  5. Space… empty space. It is wonderful…and then we fill it again. Ah but t is wonderfully liberating for a few minutes. lol.
I noticed on Lorne’s blog a few days ago you asked how they find spots for overnight, I have no idea if they use the website freecampsites.net or not but it offers some ideas, Allstays offers up other ideas as well.

    1. Yes, if we can use the 'space' we open up in a better way, it is very liberating! 😉
Yes, I used to use freecampsites.net, I wonder if that is where he finds them. It would be nice to avoid the Walmarts sometimes. thank you. Deb.

  6. Robin's rental does a good business. Clearly in a good location with a reputation for being clean and well-equipped. You can take pride in your work for her.
A table to allow for crafting (or maybe for Gibbs to sit on to watch out the window) would be terrific in that space. Hide-a-beds are typically stupidly heavy.

    1. Yes, I am surprised by her rental business. She has a lot of repeat guests too, many Asian, but I wonder if they work in the area. She has many bookings already in saskatchewan too and they are just finishing that bnb up as we speak!

  7. I am sure you didn't mean to be rude and were trying to be funny but the names comment was a little offensive.

    1. If you are sure she 'didn't mean to be rude', why did you feel the need to say something? A good book for you to read might be "Un-offendable", by Brandt Hansen. It is a good one.

    2. To Anonymous - I do apologize if I offended you.

      To barbaradougherty126 - thank you!

    3. Our countries are being taken over and you're offended? Virtue signal much?
YOU are part of the problem.

  8. A table would be wonderful there in that empty space. I was glad that they voted that person off on Survivor as well.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you Jackie, this winter will be a test with a folding table...........and then perhaps a built-in unit next summer.
We're on the same page with Survivor - so far at least! haha
