Happy Birthday to Me! May as Well Celebrate it!

The Ridge

There is no point in hiding the fact that I've made another trip around the sun so........on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd I proudly celebrate another year. It sure beats the alternative and too many have not had the same good fortune.

Good morning!
After Dot, Gord and Caper left last night,
the sky was performing.

Gibbs sat by the door for about 10 minutes,
smelled where his company had been
and went to sleep, contented.

Also no point in pretending that I could just lounge around all day as I had to clean the Mat this morning. I left Bill and Gibbs at home, Bill will enjoy another day off 'work', and drove in shortly after 7.

So, I slapped on my special pin
and went to work.
Emptying a dryer lint tray, I smiled
when I saw a dime - from Daddy.
I'm sure Mom nudged him that it was my
birthday. He was too busy to remember that stuff.
💘

It is obvious that it rained through the night again as everything was very wet. The small green tomatoes still on the vine are happy, they may ripen yet and I don't have to water them! Only one  customer in the Mat while I cleaned and she loaded a machine and waited outside.

Seems to be an odd picture.
This is on our road and it certainly wasn't
dark, just cloudy.

Within 15 minutes of my arrival, Bridgette called with my birthday wishes. She was on her way to her work so we chatted for part of her drive (on speaker). We crammed a lot of chatter into that time period, I love hearing from her. 💕

Another odd picture.
I have joined 2 rather than separate
them in this collage.
It is almost perfectly aligned.
Bill hard at sawing posts.

Bill had put a message on FB for me so I was trying to keep up with all the wishes as they came through. It was close to 9 when I was ready to leave and that meant 'busy-ness' in our small downtown core, so to avoid school buses, county fleet trucks etc. I headed home rather than get water and CtA tickets.

After quilling for an hour or so,
we walked for the mail.
It took ME forever, and I had to sit
on the grass to rest my leg.
I laughed at little ole gramps
in his sweater walking to me.

Not surprisingly, Bill was sawing fence posts behind the Hangar, even though I told him to relax today. 😀 I knew he wouldn't listen, at least this morning. I woke up feeling great, wonderful, in fact, and thought about the grounding sheet. But, still no firm confirmation either way.

Whenever I sit on the grass, he has to join me.

I vacuumed and dust-mopped the Suite and Gibbs and I walked down to see Bill. After lunch, at which I had a toasted (Roma) tomato and cheese sandwich, my boys dozed and I went to do some quilling. The sandwich tasted wonderful!

The tomatoes are from Dot, such lovely looking fruit. (fruit or vegetable aka chicken or egg). You decide. We have a mostly cloudy, warm day upon us and although it would be a good day to cut some hostas etc. in the garden, I don't want to push how good I feel. Bill agrees that another day is better.

It will be another few days
before I can dig this dahlia
up for the winter.
It's stunning!

So, no argument here! The rest of the afternoon was quiet, with a bit of rain, Bill still burning in the midst of it all and me quilling. I'm starting another hanging, and then Gibbs and I walked down to get the mail. A birthday card was worth the walk!

Sometimes, to relieve the ache and numbness,
I get into the strangest postitions.
Doesn't bother Gibbs one bit!

For supper, no it wasn't cooked for me - Bill is not a chef other than burgers, so I made spaghetti w/meatballs and tea biscuits. It was quite good, filling, especially with a bit of apple crisp for dessert. No cake, Patti, I would just eat it! 😅

The rains came. I had the outside door open
and the wind picked up. Let's just say our
floor got wet because I wasn't quick enough!
Woops!
Norwex mop to the rescue.

We cleaned up the pots and Bill went back to the Hangar. The weather network was warning of thunderstorms this evening, here we go again, so we'll be watchful and hopeful that we get missed.

Even though I made it myself,
it was a delicious supper.

It has been a good day and I received many cards, online greetings, text messages and phone calls. I feel special.  I finished my blog and watched a bit of tv before bed. A fun day is in the works for tomorrow. 😍

A memory from my birthday in 2019.
A double rainbow, that was special!
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

What’s Another Year? Happy to Admit to a Birthday, Beats the Alternative!

The Ridge

On Thursday, Sept. 23rd I checked my feet. No toe tag so that meant I was here to turn another year older. Yay! Life is short and I know too many friends/ family who didn’t make it to this ripe ‘ole’ age, so yup, it’s my birthday! 😊 A day to celebrate.

A damp morning but the rain held off
for the most part

There was a lovely birthday card on the table waiting for me. My sweetie did it again with just the perfect words. Bill didn’t need to rush to work this morning but I wanted to get in to town before 8 so took my water and left my boys at home. The Mat wasn’t too bad today and within 10 minutes of my arrival, my daughter called to make my day.

The rain yesterday and overnight seemed to
come from all directions
The sheds were darkened on every side

We chatted for a nice long time before saying goodbye. I so love to hear from my ‘young’uns’. 😊 She was working from home today which made that chat possible. I finished cleaning with only one regular customer to work around and then stopped at the bank to deposit some of my cash. It disappears quicker when I carry it around with me although my online purchases take a toll too. LOL

One of my daughter's wishes for me was
'some sunshine'

I took these pictures to show her that
her wish came true for me! 💖
Thanks Bridgette!

I drove by the duplex in town where Bill and the crew were working just because I can. Mike was out front with Bill and called out a birthday wish too. Back home, I had my tea with Gibbs. My reward for finishing yesterday’s blog last night was that I could sit in my chair with the little guy. He is very cuddly this morning and I love that.

At least it was a dryer day to get
this guy out for a bit more exercise
We love his little stance

The weather today has improved from yesterday but it is still pretty much a fall day. If we reached 14C/57F today up here on the Ridge, it would be a miracle but at least the rain has held off since 8 this morning. We got a lot of rain overnight and with the winds from Wednesday, trees were uprooting because of the soft ground. Not here, at least.

When I empty a box, Gibbs grabbed
the little air filled pouch
So innocent, huh?

I stayed inside with the exception of taking Gibbs out when necessary for most of the afternoon. Bill arrived home around 2, done for the day. We needed water so Bill drove to the Acreage only to return within 20 minutes. They had a tree come down across their lane making entry impossible. Oh-oh. He loaded his chain saw after notifying Gerry and headed back. We need water tonight so it is kind of important that he get in.

We relaxed together on the dreary day
Nice way to spend a birthday 💕💕

Gibbs relaxes a bit better than we do

For supper, we had fish and chips and tonight, I felt like having the fries too. They were good for a change. For dessert we had runny lemon pie. It just didn’t want to set for me but it still tasted darn good! I’ve pigged out today on carbs but I’m sure I won’t lose any sleep over it. 😊 After dishes, we watched tv until 10 when we all went to bed.

Supper was good

Oh well, it tasted good and looks nice

sky to the north still heavy with clouds

I’d slipped our kokopeli blanket between the sheet and the chenille spread today as last night I felt really chilly through the night. I guess, now that it is fall, it’s time to put warmer sheets on too. This was a good day, mostly lazy this afternoon with my book. It is so intriguing!

I think you'll see a pattern here
