More Heat, More Pizza, More Steps!

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Mar. 27th we were up and about before 7. Bill wondered why I was up early and my only explanation was the lovey dovey dog that came and laid across my chest when I rolled over. Who can ignore those doggy kisses and face washes? Not me! By then, I was awake, so we got up.

Good morning!

While I had my tea, Bill took a drive to the flying field to see who was still around. Gibbs and I took our walk and just before 9, Bill returned and we walked over for the Coffee & Donuts hour at the clubhouse. Bill’s first words “is this just women?” 😊 Well, mostly, yes, and unfortunately today, he was the only male attendee, other than one of the hosts who sat for a short bit.

Bill packs the gazebo away.
Notice how clean BB is? The reflection tells it all!

He returned home just a few minutes ahead of me and was busy taking down the gazebo. After that, the bbq, my gravity chair all found their place in our ‘basement’. It’s a lovely day, warm, but just the way we like it. I decided today was the day to make the Pumpkin Snickerdoodle cookies that Bill likes. One bag of the pumpkin I had in the freezer thawed yesterday so I had to make use of it. These are not keto except for the sugar. I always use Splenda as its replacement.

Sorry for the blur, but the small All Meat pizza
is my favourite at Outback.

The batter had to sit in the fridge for an hour which meant it was there until 3 o’clock. We didn’t have lunch at noon, instead, we met Doug, Deb and Riley at Outback Pizza. Yes, another pizza meal. 😊 I’m glad we had one more opportunity to see them all again before they, too, headed off for our homeland. It was a fun get together. After hugs, we said our goodbyes and returned home.

Leaving with full tummies and doggy boxes

Riley, Deb, Doug, Bill.
Safe travels, friends!

Gibbs and I walked around the park, him trying to get to shade the whole time. I baked about 36 of the cookies and they turned out pretty good. They’re not my favourite but I enjoy the occasional one for a treat.

The cookies turned out great!

When they were done, Sheila and I got out for our walk. By now, it had cooled down a bit so it was a very comfortable walk. I also got my steps in for the day!

Today, we reached a high of 78F/26C and only dropping to 55F/13C tonight so windows will be open again. 😊 Bill and I just had some French bread with cheese for supper, lunch was late so we weren’t overly hungry. This was a good day and I believe the heat will be on higher tomorrow. PS – our place looks funny without the gazebo and barbecue set up. (picture tomorrow)

Good night!

Thank you for popping in. Your comments are always welcome.

Poker Pool! Video Chat

Park Place RV Park

On Monday, Nov. 13th the day started out typically. Sometimes those days are just fine and this was no exception. Bill readied to go flying and Gibbs and I went for our walk. Other days, with some chaos, excitement and Jello thrown in – well, they are just days to keep us sharp and on our toes! 😊 We’ve all had plenty of those.

It's a beautiful morning!
(you can sing it if you like)

We were back to the Suite by the time Bill loaded his plane(s) and backed out of our site. It was already warming up. Overnight temperatures last night didn’t drop below 56F/13C so very pleasant for sleeping. I was washed and ready so walked over to the clubhouse at 9:15. The other ladies were there already, with the exception of one who arrived by 9:30.

I took the time to decorate
my toe nails today

Today, there were 7 of us again and it was ‘let the games begin!’ morning. I didn’t do too badly today, 4th out of 7, tying with Susan. Yay for Sheila and Patti, they came in 1st and 2nd. We do have fun and I’m getting along quite well with my cue stick, seemingly making less blubs with connection. I probably just spoiled that by saying so!  I was home by noon and Bill and I had our lunch.

There were clouds today but it was still
hot around 84F/29C

During the very early stages of our pool game, my phone went off. It was my sister, Donna, calling on a video call. 😉 So sweet, but it was my turn to break or play so, figuring it was a mistake, closed the call without answering. It wasn’t a mistake and she messaged me about calling later. Seeing each other, rather than just texting, is so much nicer. Gibbs even got to say hello, although he couldn’t figure where she was!

Bill was busy sorting things in the basement so after I washed the outside door, it was dirty from the window installation, I went back to the crazy circle puzzle. You know what? I am really enjoying it! Working around the outside edges is producing results quicker than I first though. Once we get into the colours, it will be a totally different story, I’m thinking.

I'm enjoying this!
Once I get into the centre, well, ask me then!

I returned home after 3 and relaxed while the boys dozed. Starting my blog was a good idea as we are going out to supper. Guess where? Yes! Silly Al’s, here we all come!

Our little security guard - on duty

We got cleaned up and met the group there for 5 o’clock. My mouth was watering for my favourite meat lovers’ pizza. The supper venue, was no disappointment.

Margarita and Pina Colada
and our menu (which we didn't need)
We know what we like!

With a margarita for me and a pina colada for Bill, the evening started off with a bang. That wasn’t even including the drink glass from the bar that ended up smashing on the floor!

Bill's Hawaiian
My Meat Lovers
Thank you Lorne and Sue!

We walked slowly to our vehicles, such a beau.tiful night, and of course, half of my small pizza came home with me. 😊 Gibbs was happy to see us but had lost his appetite for supper during our absence. LOL Pizza was not on his menu.

Two views - mine

Bill's - sorry Lorne!
Good night!

What a great day! I hope yours was too! Thank you for stopping by.

Laundry Day, Restful Afternoon, It's All About Pizza!

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Feb. 22nd we were up and sorting laundry shortly after 7:30. Neither of us felt too energetic so walked the clothes over together. The girls were just getting into their boxing fitness class when we walked through. Two machines were loaded and after switching them over to dryers, we were done folding and having clothes put away by 10:30.

Windy but still a pretty morning

It gave me a chance to finish my blog from yesterday. Last night, either the internet or my laptop was so slow, I had no patience for it. Life is too short to sit and wait for it. This morning wasn’t a whole lot better but I got it done before hopping in the shower. Bill worked on his blog, which you can check out here. We didn’t want to eat too much for lunch since we had ‘linner’ plans, as Shirley calls it, but we did have a wee bit. 😊

For those who have never been, maybe
you're wondering what the big deal is about
Silly Al's Pizza
If you're curious, here's some history

We met Dave, Cheryl, Tom, Deb D, Doug, Riley and Deb K at Silly Al’s. I’m so glad both Bill and I were feeling better although doing the laundry tired us out earlier! LOL As always, it was a great get-together and as we hugged and said our goodbyes, they were followed up with ‘if all goes well, we’ll see you before you leave.’

This afternoon, I started my next book, this one a David Baldacci called Long Shadow. The last one was a quick read with Stone Barrington. Bill had a Turkey Sandwich with a Shrimp Cocktail (which he shared with me) and I had a small Al’s Combo pizza. It was delicious and half of it came home with me.

A yummy shrimp cocktail

The winds have been gusting all day and our gazebo looks pretty dilapidated but we know it is fine. Hopefully, these strong winds will die off through the night and tomorrow will be calmer. We barely reached the high of 57F/14C today even under partly sunny skies. Not sure what tv will bring tonight but my book is starting out quite interesting if I need something else.

This is actually Dave and Cheryl's
Al's Combo pizza but it was on the top tier
and easier to pose

Meatlovers was the most popular, I think
and that's Bill's Turkey Sandwich plate

Good times with good friends
and good food
PS - in case you didn't recognize him, that's Doug front right corner
with his new look - Love it!
Cheers and Good Night!

This was a pretty easy-going day. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get back over to poker pool and puzzles. 😊 Thank you for the visit!

Cloudy Day Brightened by Friends and Silly Al’s!

Quartzsite, AZ
When we got up on Monday, Jan. 20th, it was almost 7 o’clock. We slept in a bit and that was nice. We knew it was to be a cloudy day but still warm so weren’t expecting a sunrise. Bill had his coffee and before 8 we headed out.

This was totally unexpected but delightful
This is looking to the east over the mountains
It was so calm outside and warm at 51F. It was a nice walk up the main road towards the front, past the dump station and garbage before cutting across to the west. I was surprised to see that we’d covered 2 ½ miles. I was also delighted to see such a pretty sky and an unexpected sunrise.

Looking to the southwest

The east again
It didn't last though. The clouds were going to rule. The day would unfold differently only because I was in no hurry to sit around outside with no sun. It just makes a difference to me. We discussed what we wanted to do today but we already had plans to go to Silly Al’s for Pizza (‘you haven’t been to Q until you’ve been to Silly Al’s’). This would be another venture where we will be thinking of George. He introduced us to the area, the town and the places to eat. 😊

The sun did rise for a short period of time
George will be laid to rest today and we will certainly hold him (and Suzie especially) in our hearts during this emotional time. We decided to sit tight this morning and so after Bill had his shower, he went out to hang with Keith, Ken and Tom.

Ken, Keith, Bill and Tom
I’m sure a few world issues got solved in that period of time. Inside, I got washed and cleaned up before tackling a tangly mess.

The hat wig and Higgins in my lap
At a garage sale at Yuma Lakes RV Park over a month ago, I found a ball cap with a partial wig attached. Who am I to pass on a chuckle for $1 so I bought it and wore it home?  It wasn’t until I turned around did Bill notice the long gray locks. I got the chuckle I was looking for and it also got new friends across the drive wondering just how many ‘wives’ Bill had! Too funny. I’ve worn it a few times just around our friends.

All braided up
Well, it was and is a bit tangled so after Kim and I Googled how to de-tangle doll’s hair, I decided to comb it out. I didn’t need to use the fabric softener today but learned how to use it I want to later. I finished and then had to put it on to braid it properly and easily. So, there you have it. Instant long hair if I want it!

The trick is to hide the blonde hair

Bill and Keith took their small planes out just to the area in front of our sites and took them up for a flight. It was so calm that it encouraged them.

Oreo was patiently watching the men
in their chit chat
I popped over to visit with Kim and show her my lovely braid and of course to chat up the morning. The 3 guys left for town, Keith needed a cervo for his plane and Ken went along for the ride too. When I invited Kim over to see Rosy, my air fryer, I realized how dirty the Suite was inside. Yikes! It is good encouragement for me to get the dishes done, sweep and dust. I know it won’t last long but it looks better with just that small amount of attention.

Keith gets his plane ready for a flight
Bill does the same with Timber
When I took the mats out to shake them I could hear Higgins barking. I hadn't heard him until a few minutes ago so I walked over and let him out. We didn’t even get for a walk yet, he beelined over to see Shirley all excited. While we were chatting, Bob drove up which caused Higgy to get even more excited. 😊 I handed him back to Mama and finished the mats and then dried the dishes. Now that the dirty work was done, I changed into my good red shorts.

I saw Deb returning from a walk when I was inside
cleaning
And then she rested on her patio
The heat sneaks up on you when you walk
I know Bill and I were very warm
That didn’t last long because as I was sitting outside waiting for the boys to get back, I discovered it was too chilly for shorts after all. When they returned, I came inside and put my long red pants on and sat down inside to read. We had offered Keith our shower whenever he wanted to use it, so he came over around 2:30 and gratefully accepted that offer. He has outside shower capabilities but there is no point when we have one available.

Keith's in the air
I think this is Bill's Timber
Hard to tell up that far
We loaded into 3 vehicles at 3:20. Ken W. drove Kim, Bill and I. Ken K. drove Shirley and Keith and Tom drove Deb, Bob and Jo-Anne. When we arrived, we pulled in behind my sister, Gayle, and John. Huh! The parking was between minimal to none so you had to wait until someone left. Good thing Ken has a small car. He eventually got a spot and I walked in to get our name on the list. 15, I said and we waited for quite a while watching others get called in to tables of 2, 4 and 5.

Small lobby at Silly Al's where we have to wait
but it was worth it!
This table of 5 got seated first
Deb, Jo-Anne, Bob, Keith and Tom
It was then I told them we’d take any number of tables, that we were willing to be split up. Things moved along then and the first table of 7 went to Tom, Deb, Keith, Jo-Anne and Bob. A table opened up for 4 for Ken W, Ken K, Kim and Shirley. Soon after, a table for 4 beside them became available and I asked if they would move them together and find 2 chairs for the last 6 of us to sit. That worked well. G & J’s friends, Matt and Karen, from Alberta, drove down from Midland LTVA and it was nice to have them join us.

Matt and Karen ordered a Goliath 18" or 20"?
Our drinks and pizzas weren’t too long in coming and we’ll say it again – the best pizza we’ve ever eaten. That is Bill’s and my opinion anyway. I had 2 pieces left that I brought home for tomorrow night’s supper. We said goodbye to Gayle and John with the understanding that we won’t see them again this winter. They will go in a different direction after leaving this area. We rode back with Ken and Kim and made plans for another trip through the tent and Tyson Wells. We’ve also invited Keith along.

Gayle and John ordered the Goliath as well
Look at how big it is!!
Our Large
1/2 Meatlovers
1/2 Hawaiian
When we returned back at camp, Bob invited everyone over for a drink in their trailer for a drink. I was almost too tired and hadn’t written my blog but Bill and I went for a short visit, as did Tom and Deb and Keith. I felt like Higgins, who fell asleep with his head in my hand and came back home 40 minutes later. It felt like a full day. The rest of the evening would be with our books while 2 programs recorded on our pvr.

Now that is one happy group and a table full of Pizza!

Thank you for taking to time to drop in!

Making the Best of a Dull Day, We Survive our First Anniversary Apart

The Ridge
When I woke on Friday, May 3rd, one thing was on my mind. Happy Anniversary, Sweetie. They were the first words spoken to each other through our Samsung phones. I stirred first around 6:45 and since Clemson was cuddled under the covers next to me, I remained still until I contacted Bill to let him know I was awake. When he called back, we chatted and he informed me that he’d found the card and package I left him in his carryall.

This little guy was sound asleep snuggling right up to mama
It is our first time to be apart on our anniversary and that feels strange but we wouldn’t be doing anything too special anyway. We will celebrate on Monday evening with my sisters and my b.i.l.’s birthdays. 22 wonderful years with this guy, wow, we should be incarcerated since we each stole each other’s hearts all those years ago. Har de har.

Part of why I said yes - look at that smile
Some single people may think ‘hmm, you are incarcerated in a way, aren’t you?’ Nope, not us. I’m happy to be where we are today. He still makes my heart pitter patter on a daily basis.

The day of the big event - sorry for the blur
These were non-professional photos

I crept out of bed without disturbing the little bum beside me and made my tea. He was up at 2:15 am but seemed to only want a drink, not go out. So, I picked him back up and brought him back to bed. He remained under the covers with me up to and after that point. Good boy! He rustled himself out of bed around 8:30. It is a dreary morning and not going to get above 10C all day so I don’t blame him his sleeping in.

I love this cake cutting picture
Happy Anniversary, Sweetie
On the agenda today? After the call I just got - a trip into Durham to pick up Mom’s income tax papers will be a definite and I am going to jump in hands first and make at least one of the keto dishes my friends have been recommending. I have the spaghetti squash, zucchini and cauliflower so I’ll start there. I found and copied a few recipes into my Word docs so I can work away. Wish me luck! Before I started, I had a few greeting cards that needed to be mailed today so walked them down to the mailbox.

I thought I should get something to eat so around 11:30 I fried up more chicken hearts with zucchini and an egg for lunch. That was another fulfilling meal sticking to the appropriate foods for keto. I cleaned up dishes and as I sit here now, the road grader is making its trek down North Line. We do appreciate how they look after these gravel roads. This time, different than the other day, he is doing the stretch down our end of the road to fill the pot holes before they get worse from all this rain.

Another section of the freshly graveled road
I drove into Durham and met with Tim, our tax guy. We chatted about Mom’s income tax results, I paid him and left. I wanted to stop at Foodland for some fresh mushrooms for a pizza I was planning to make. Then it was home again. I pulled up my recipe, the one I found on line for a pizza with spaghetti squash crust. Let’s see if I can make this and then the test of all tests – can I eat it?

I cooked the squash in the microwave for 10 minutes and cleaned the stringy innards out into a bowl. Now to try and get as much liquid out as possible. This was the hardest part of the whole recipe. There is a lot of it in spaghetti squash. I tried many ways to do this even down to squeezing it into a ball in my hands. When I thought I’d sufficiently removed all of the liquid, I mixed the spices, shredded cheese and an egg to make the ‘dough’.

Ready for the oven
It certainly wasn’t dough-like at all but I carried on and shaped 3 pizzas onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. It wasn’t enough to cook them for 15 minutes as the recipe instructed but 25 minutes seemed to do it. At this stage, I didn’t think that it would be a ‘pick up and eat it’ type of pizza. I loaded it to my satisfaction with some sauce, bacon, cut up salami slices, ham, green peppers, green onions, mushrooms and cheese on top.

I let it sit until I was ready to eat around 6. I cooked it for 8 minutes until the cheese melted. Turns out I was right. I could pick it up with a lifter but I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. It didn’t stay hot for too long but it sure tasted good. I’m not sure what I did wrong and maybe nothing, maybe it is just the liquid in the squash that changed the crust texture. I’m happy though that I have enough left over for tomorrow night.

And it tasted wonderful!
I talked to Bill after I finished dishes and after he finished his day of work. He’ll be having a leftover roast beef dinner tonight so I’m happy he’ll have a good meal too. I settled with Clemson, who took a while settling down, and we watched old Clint Eastwood movies. The last of Magnum Force first and then the Enforcer. They were made in the 70’s so some things make me chuckle but he didn’t act in a bad movie so I enjoyed them.

And I had to wake this little guy at 20 to 6, way
past his supper time!
This was a good day and I got a few things taken care of. Woops! I meant to get the dusting done today but I guess that will be tomorrow’s chore. Nice that not too much is on a schedule in this life. The temperature did hit 10C today but no higher. It wasn't sunny but it wasn't windy either so not too bad of a day. I hope you had a good day. I was happy to hear that our buddies made it home safely from Manitoulin this afternoon. Welcome back, Rob and Pat!

Thank you for stopping by!
