On Monday, Apr. 2nd I woke
up just before 7. This wasn’t counting the couple of times earlier when I
rolled over and looked at the clock. At 10 to 7 I peeked out my blind to see
whiteness. I was soon up and out of bed. Bill and Clemson never moved as I got
dressed in layers and crept downstairs. At least the white ground would make
the morning seem lighter and I could hopefully catch a sunrise today.
Not liking this stuff |
I prepared things downstairs, opened
blinds and checked the temperature. 22F/-2C meant brrr but there was no wind
again, not a titch was moving the tree branches or flags. I added layers to my
attire, plus winter boots, a scarf and warm gloves and went out to greet this
white day. I have to admit that is IS pretty but I know what is prettier and that
is green grass and flowers AND brown desert and cacti! It’s a personal choice,
is all.
The bonus of my early arrival was the
beautiful sky to the east. It looks like we got 2” of snow from 5 pm last night
to sometime early morning and it has now stopped. I walked around the back of
the park once more and retraced my steps until the sun popped over the horizon
across the farmer’s field. Peering through the fences and tree branches puts a
whole new perspective on the viewfinder in my camera.
Lake reflections again |
It was cold, yes, my gloves weren’t
doing the job, but it was a good feeling to get out and not have to be careful
of where I step. The lanes in the park either paved or gravel were bone dry.
Any small puddles that had water, had a thin covering of ice that broke when I
tapped on it. When I returned at 7:30, Bill was up at the table with his coffee
and Clemson was still in bed. I pat myself on the back when I push myself to
walk in this weather. It is so easy for me to wimp out.
We shared a grapefruit and some
almonds since we know they should be eaten up before crossing the border. We
have one left so that works out about right. We read blogs and discovered that
many of our travelling friends are experiencing the hot temperatures of Arizona
still. I can’t help but be envious, send us some!!
Our Suite and Black Beauty this morning |
Again, it is our choice to leave home,
thus return home, when we do but you can’t predict the weather at this time of
year. Last year we were home by now into beautiful weather and it remained in
the mid to high 50’s. Go figure, us Snowbirds just learn to roll with the punches.
Five days and we’ll be crossing the border into Ontario, Canada and that just
seems unreal. However, we are ready.
I think this is my favourite picture of the day |
Bill hopped in the shower as I
touched up the grocery list. One more shopping and one more laundry day should
get us ready for home. Bill finished the 3 cinnamon buns for his breakfast
today and I mixed some yogourt with granola and wheat germ for mine. Hmm, that
hit the spot.
this robin is saying "Say what???" |
We drove into Wapakaneta to the
Walmart. It is actually quite a nice day with clear blue skies and brilliant
sun. I can now see the buds on the trees again. It has been a steady snowfall
UNDER the tree branches as it melts on its way to the ground. We had a small
list of required food, mostly dairy that will last us until we are home and
beyond. Their prices are just that much better here. $1.78 for 3 gallons of homogenized/Vit.B
milk, are you kidding me?
We had no other plans for the day so
came back home and played a bit on our laptops. We decided on burgers for
supper but since we haven’t put our barbecue out yet, there is no point in
doing it now. Tomorrow is forecast to be warmer, up to 65F, but a day of rain.
I’ll cook the burgers inside. Bill deserves the break from B.W. Weber.
Love the reflection of the sun in this little cabin I'm all about reflection lately, huh! |
After reading and just wiling away
the hours, we took Clemson for a walk at 3:00 trying once more to delay his
supper time. Yes, he’s started the ‘look’ already! We had a nice walk around
the park, down past the cabins and around the front of the park past the mini
golf and playground. We walked slow but still got back around 3:30 and still
put him off (basically by avoiding his glare) until 4. Bill finally fed him.
The sunrise was gorgeous this morning |
At 5:45 we started supper. I got my
electric frypan out and while that was heating up, I made myself a salad. Bill
was having a double burger and passed on the greenery. He poured our drinks and
got all of the condiments out. These were ready in no time and we enjoyed yet
another indoor meal. Mine was in lettuce and it was ooey gooey good! We cleaned
up dishes and I once more took Clemson out for a short nature’s call walk.
Goodnight from us at Arrowhead Lakes Yay, the snow is almost all gone! |
I wanted to finish my blog post but
first had an email we wanted to send to a few people. This has been a quiet but
good day. They are all good when we are comfy, cozy, warm and together. I hope
you can say the same about yours!
Thank you for stopping by
today! I love to hear from you and will respond to every post in time.
22 degrees??? Oh heck no. I'm sitting in beautiful 51-75 degree sunny weather!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it for us!
DeleteToday your pictures have such a tranquility to them. Your favorit picture you could frame, it's that nice. I'm sending you some warm temps because today we had more than we needed. Keep warm, it'll get better any day now.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I agree about that one pix. All I would need is a house with walls to hang it! :)
DeleteThanks for thinking of us, if you can spare some heat, we'll take it!
Those are very nice pictures. Fresh snow really adds a contrast to an otherwise perhaps monotone scene. Well done!
ReplyDeleteAnother hot day on the streets of Vegas today, but cooling down for tomorrow.......then back up to the upper eighties for the end of the week. Sorry! :-)
Thank you dave, not for talking about the heat but for the picture comments. Ha ha! Hey, you can talk about the heat all you want, I certainly did! enjoy it, we all have to face the music sometime. :)
DeleteSounds cold but you must be snug in your Suite.
ReplyDeleteDo you have to leave some heat on at night so your hoses
don't freeze ?
Your faithfulness to walk makes me want to keep it up and not
get lazy, and yes I do get wimpy as you say. Lol
We are certainly warm inside our Suite.
DeleteWe don't leave a furnace heat on, at least we haven't yet. We leave the fireplace and our blue flame heater on inside. If it is below freezing, we leave a tap dripping too.
I love to walk with my camera so that is encouraging too.
The last picture of the three of you is a cute one.
ReplyDeleteI have to say it, the pictures you took of the snow are beautiful. I especially liked the one of the Lake Reflections and your favorite one is really pretty. Of course, it is easy to think snow is pretty from the warmth of Arizona...Stay warm.
P.S. I am trying to wave some heat your way...:)
thanks, Bill really puts up with my 'stop there! picture time!' :)
DeleteThe pictures are beautiful, I agree about them in snow but prefer the desert for obvious reasons.
thanks for all the heat you can send our way.
Nice reflections you had yesterday glad you had a relaxing day. Once the sun came out it was beautiful here as well. We look forward to hanging out there for a while ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThanks George, we were watching for yu and happy you arrived safely.
DeleteI love how quiet it is first thing in the morning when there is snow on the ground. You did get some beautiful pictures today!
ReplyDeletethank you guys. It was pretty, I have to admit. :)
DeleteI guess nature is preparing you for your return to South Western Ontario's snow belt region. By the way you can't really call that bit of white stuff snow......that's a light powder;-). I agree it is pretty and if the sun is shining really beautiful! You deserve a pat on the back for pushing yourself to get out there. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks sis. Yes, I know full well what nature is trying to do..........I guess it is working because I can't even remember the feeling of walking out in shorts and a tee! ha ha
DeleteI do try and walk as much as possible but sometimes get lazy too.
Pretty snowfall. Nice to have those that leave the walkways clear. Make for pretty pictures too. I too liked the pier into the lake the best. And the one of you and Bill is great too.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty snowfall. Nice and calm, no wind to make it blustery and cold, the part of winter I don't like.
Deletethanks, without our cameras it wouldn't be quite as fun. :)
Beautiful pictures and I love the collage!Cold pictures but beautiful! You and Bill are adorable! I love ooey gooey good! Too cute!
ReplyDeletethank you guys. Nature surprises us even it is cold. I love your ooey gooey good comment. :)
