The Stakes are Up and the Wheels are Rolling!

The Ridge

On Saturday, Oct. 22nd, wouldn’t you know I felt like I could have slept in longer. It was 6:45 when I heard Bill talking to Gibbs. Nice that he let us sleep in. Usually, I’m awake around 5 for the first time but not today! So, we got up and had some cereal and I had a cup of tea. It looked like another wonderful fall day although still some wind. Typical up on the Ridge. 😊

Another great morning sky!

Bill doing the work, me taking pictures! 😇
Actually, I was already done inside.

We were packed up, hooked up and dumped by 8:45, time noted at 8:50 when we left the laneway. We’re on our way! Neither of us is overly keen on the packing up, closing up and pulling out BUT in cases like this, we are quite anxious to do it! This summer, we’ve actually pulled the Suite out twice and they were both totally worth the effort.

The hookup
I love the way these pictures turned out

The stoop/steps will be missed
The bottom pictures shows the hinged section that
drops over into place after Bill backs up 'perfectly'!

The dumping, empty Ridge and pull out

It was a smooth drive to London, little traffic and lovely weather. We arrived at CanAm’s parking lot at 11:30 so we made really good time. It took an hour, even though they were expecting us, to get other rv’s moved out of the way but that only attests to how busy they are.

How did Gibbs ride?
He slept through much of the journey so I'd say 'Grrrreaaat'

He was a very good boy

We usually get a pretty ‘prime’ spot where we can plug in and often where we can hook up to water. We were set up shortly after 12:30, plugged in to power and water for showers. Our tank was getting pretty low so we’ll take advantage tonight. 😊

These seagulls were evidence of a recently
plowed field

They were beautiful against the clear blue sky

I kept thinking a large vehicle was creeping up to my right
but it was only our shadow!

We had a bit of lunch around 2, cheese and crackers and I had yogourt and avocado. Our friends, Brenda and Randy arrived for a short visit around 3 as they wanted to wish us a good winter too.

Sitting at CanAm this fellow flew over across
the highway

Falcon? Hawk? I'm not sure

We have some wonderful friends! 18C/64F is what we would like to hold onto as far as possible once we cross the US border. At least we can hope! Just as they were leaving around 4:30, our friend, Keith, drove in from Aylmer to do the same. It’s so nice to see him too.

Gibbs was settling down quicker with
each visitor
Keith wasn't sleeping, I just clicked at the wrong time

Supper was yummy, sweet potato fries for me
Set up at CanAm

For supper we had burgers and the last of our potatoes as fries. That hit the spot and saves us from having to report having the spuds at all. I’ve made a list of the fridge/freezer food items we have and after checking the regulations are pretty sure everything is suitable for the transfer into the U.S. We cleaned up the messy dishes and spent a quiet evening here alone. We are both feeling very tired for some reason so it won’t be a late night.

As always, their generosity is appreciated.

After showers for each of us, we hit the hay. It was a wonderful day in every way!

We had a clear view of the sun dropping
below the horizon

And no time was wasted in its demise
Pretty, huh?
Good night from London!

  7. I am so envious of you guys heading south. M is adamant that he is done with the travelling. So I will think of you basking in the sun and warmth when we are sitting in 10 feet of snow at -40!! Have a great winter. Dee and Michael

    1. Ah, we will do it as long as we can - hopefully a few more years - and then we'll be in the same boat! Thank you Dee and Mike.

    1. Yeuch! Snow is pretty but only when you don't have to go anywhere and are tucked indoors with a warm blanket and hot cocoa!
