Busy Morning, Sliding to the Long Weekend

On Thursday, May 16^th I was up and downstairs with Bill by 7. I had a couple of things to do this morning so made my tea-to-go and left the Suite at 7:15, ahead of Bill. The Mat was empty when I arrived and remained that way for the whole period of time I was there.  Another note was left on a machine but it was fine when I tested it, I think they put it on the wrong dryer.

With a bit of extra time in my hour, I wiped the inside of the two big front windows and door before closing up and heading home. I couldn’t remember for sure when M needed me to pick him up so left home at 9:50. He needed to go to his bank in Hanover, scammers even get those who can’t afford to lose anything. I guess none of us can, but you know what I mean. They issued him a new bank card since that is what was hacked.

I tried to find something filling for lunch
and this gave me good fats and filled me.
I had some almonds and cheddar mid morning

He’d asked if I minded a few stops in Durham to which my reply was no and we stopped at the Beer Store, the hardware, Foodland and the drug store. It was noon when I dropped him off at his place around the corner. He paid me for my time and for some fuel, which makes it worthwhile. I know he appreciates the help. I made myself a chicken ‘cutter’ from some of the leftover chicken, cheese and a keto dinner roll. It was good with a small bacon, chicken salad on the side. 😊

Although, I do check on him - a lot.

I haven’t been doing much all morning but boy was I feeling tired after cleaning up my dishes. Gibbs and I sat in my recliner and I know I dropped off again. I’d like to be outside filling my garden bags but the flies are too discouraging so other than walking around with Gibbs and painting a couple more rocks with a base colour, I came indoors. Gibbs doesn’t seem to mind the flies as much as I do so he remained on the steps or patio mat. ♥

Eventually, things will get moved to better positions.

I can see him at all times and he doesn’t wander anymore. That’s a blessing. Of course, if Chippy dares run along the fence line, Gibbs is right there showing him who’s boss around here! Bill was home at 5 and since there is no rest for the wicked (just kidding, sweetie!) he had to head right out again to get us water from the Acreage. ☹

When he was gone, I noticed a big toy hauler being backed into the house next door. Our new neighbours are finally starting to make an appearance.

It will be interesting to meet even MORE new neighbours.

They can't be too bad if they are rv'ers, right? 😂😂

While waiting for the water to transfer from the bladder, Bill lit the Weber Q and I prepared potatoes and vegetables inside. We each had a bone-in rib pork chop with a veggie of choice and he had some potato. It was all very good but no way could I eat the whole chop.

I cleaned up dishes and he went out to put stuff away and then hop in the shower. After making his lunch, he went to the Hangar for some ‘fun’ stuff. 😊 If he sits, he’ll be asleep. ♥

Even this was too much supper for me.

Last night I sat to find the new series Justified City Primeval with Timothy Olyphant. I could only find it using Sue’s suggestion of the Cinema search. Thank you, Sue!! It was tricky but I found it – for now. Tonight, I hope I can get it again. This has been a nice day but I just wish I could be outside more. The black flies will be around (according to Google) until the heat boots them off. That means 4 or 5 days of 15C in a row. I do believe that is happening very soon!

Busy Morning, Enjoying the Afternoon

Thursday, Apr. 7^th arrived in a similar fashion to Wednesday. We all got up by 7, wide awake, no point in staying in bed. It’s a beautiful day! With a forecasted high of 95F/35C, Bill had his coffee and cereal before 8 and was out the door. He had a few things he wanted to do in Yuma that were things I didn’t need to be part of. Before anything else, I had my shower, loving the water pressure here. I finished my tea, had some cereal, then started with my ‘list’. 😊

We had a conversation and tried again

The list was in my head but I had a couple or three or four things to get done today. First, I made a batch of Baked Keto Oatmeal so I’ won't need to be eating Bill’s Cheerios so much. While the oven heated up, I pulled the vacuum hose out from under the bed and pulled Madame IP out of the cupboard.

With the a/c set to run at 74F/23C and we don’t want to ‘overtax’ our electric hookup, things would be done in order. We're just not sure if we are getting 50 or 30 amps. When the oven turned off, (yum that fake oatmeal smells wonderful!) I put 10 eggs in the IP for 5-5-5. While she cooked them, I caught up on recording the expenditures over the last 3 or 4 days. Every penny, with the exception of laundry, gets recorded and receipts filed.

Bill wanted to get things in order today with lists of what each of us have bought in case we’re asked at the border. We are usually asked how much we spent and we are never over. Well, we never claim more than our allotment of $800/ea. Ssssh! It sure doesn’t seem like much of an allotment for 5 months down here and unless we’ve splurged on some big items, we’re okay and don't overly worry about it. Crossing the border with their questions can be intimidating.😊

With the eggs cooling in ice water, I began upstairs with the upholstery brush end and vacuumed everything from floor to ceiling. That was a big start up there without emptying cupboards. Then I moved downstairs and was just finishing up the floor when Bill came in. We'll be emptying all of the cupboards back home for a thorough 'spring' cleaning. Gibbs behaved pretty good around the vacuum wand today until Bill asked him if he’d been helping Mom. Too funny!

So, my work was almost done for the day, lastly restocking our week’s worth of vitamins. We got our lists made with receipts attached before I cooked bacon and eggs for lunch. Bill bought a fair bit for his hobby since it saves on shipping costs and most RC items come from the U.S. I sat with my sweeties for a while, reading and they both fell asleep. Gibbs across my lap which mean I couldn’t (wouldn't) move until he woke up.

I headed to the pool at 2 and it was wonderful! ♥♥ Better than yesterday, maybe because it wasn’t quite as windy. I floated around the pool for a while, with 5 others, and then alternated between chair and pool. My book is keeping me entertained and I didn’t notice the distraction of the others’ conversations around me. That means a book is really good, although I did join in when it was called for. 😊

Two hours later, I returned home after a quick walk into the Activities room. I found the library and puzzle room but no puzzle was started. Not by me either. I don’t have time. I found one of the beginning J.A. Jance novels with Sheriff Joanne Brady and brought it home since we haven’t read it. Bill picked it up right away and was turning pages, just like that. He does like her stories.

We had a cold drink together, Zero Coke for Bill and Diet Mountain Dew for me. For supper, we had a shared ribeye steak with salad and devilled eggs. A nice change.  It was delicious and our last steak from the freezer. After a couple of walks around the immediate block with Gibbs, we settled in for the night. This has been a great day, fingers crossed that it continues into the evening. There may be a story to tell later.
