It Had to Happen! Remembering Mom

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Oct. 15th, after Bill and Gibbs got up at 6:00, they both came back to bed. Cuddle time! We dozed until 8 o’clock, with Gibbs either on top of us or as close as he could get. Such a goofball! Last night, we spent 2 – 3 hours up on the bed last night watching our NCIS episode (new season 22!) and then NCIS:Origins, the new series of when the tv Leroy Jethro Gibbs was young. We enjoyed it although parts of it were a tad confusing for me. I had to concentrate. Ha!

Good morning on
not a very nice morning.

The whole time, Gibbs was in between us, on us, around us and doing what ever he could for attention. If you giggled, which I couldn’t help but do, it got more focused. 😊 Bum in the air, head on the blankets and rolling over on his back for a tummy rub whenever we were willing to give it. What can I say? He’s spoiled – a bit.

He played for as long as he could and then crashed
in between us.

Today, it was nippy and windy, although with our weather station put away we have to rely on our phones for outside temp and wind speed. There was no frost on Black Beauty or the ground so it may not have dropped as low as they thought it would.  Doesn’t matter, 2C/35F is still darn cold! Around 8:30, I looked out and saw flurries blowing across from the north. They didn’t last, thank goodness but we knew it had to happen once before we left!

This little guy is waiting for
his return to the southwest too.

We have been so good at taking advantage of the nice weather that we have nothing to do now until tomorrow morning. Here at the Ridge, at least. After my tea and games, and Bill planning a bit of our route, I dusted upstairs and down. Much to Gibbs’ chagrin, I also vacuumed. He sat in the protection of Daddy’s arms the whole time. Mean old Dirt Devil! 😉

Relaxing together
Gibbs sits like a little old man. 💗

Sandwiches were on the menu for lunch again today. At 2, we all went into town for some errands and a visit. First, to get our water jug filled and say goodbye to Mark. Second, to Co-op to fill a propane tank. Third, to Impact Tire to get air in BB’s tires (that was quite a process because of the awkwardness of duallies).

At the new location for Impact Tire, Jackie, Jay and their mechanic
ended up taking the tire off to reach the inner gauge.
We'd bought the tires there
so the 15 minutes in their shop was no charge.
Such nice young owners.

Fourth, to Ultramar to fill BB and to fill 2 gas cans for our journey. Lastly, we drove to our buddies’ home for one more visit.

You can tell the flurry involved
in their play.
Then the kiss and makeup session.

It was brief but still very nice to see Rob and Pat (and Bella). The day has not improved, although we have not seen anymore s***. Fill in the stars as you see fit. 😊 It was 4:30 when we headed home, just after Bella and Gibbs began playing together. Isn’t that the way? It was late but I made myself a cup of tea anyway.

The drive home and up the lane.

For supper, we had fish and chips, still wanted to eat the last of the Vietnam frozen fish. One more meal after this and I won’t have to throw any of it away. The meal was quite good and filling. We cleaned up the dishes and relaxed for our last evening here this year. 😊

This little guy was the perfect little rider
on the way home. What happened?

Supper.

Yes, we are ready and will be pulling out in the morning. It was a cold, bitter day with some rain showers periodically but a good one. Time to head out.

Today, I'm remembering Mom.
It is hard to believe that she has
been gone 4 years today. 😢💖
We miss her.
Good night!

Thank you for following along during our summer months. Stay tuned!

  1. Nothing like a few snow flurries to have you ready to hit the road. Have a safe drive on the first leg of your journey tomorrow.

For Gibbs, my friends put a recently worn T shirt of her hubby’s in their doggies
travel bed and it seemed very calming to him. It’s a thought .
