The Week Begins

The Ridge

On Monday, Aug. 10th, we dove into a new work week. And we all know that August is going to go by in a blink just like July did. When I remember summers in my childhood, they seemed to drag on and on. Mostly because there were a few good friends that I only saw at school.

I was up at 6:45 and out the door at 7:10, before Bill. He would be leaving at 7:30, getting a ride with Billy. That is a blessing in itself, saving on fuel and Billy drives the work truck. Win, win! Speaking of fuel, Ptooties was now below 1/2 tank.

Since the gas prices have been dropping a bit every other day (YAY), I was overjoyed that overnight, it had dropped another .04¢/litre. I paid $1.44 to fill her up. It's still ridiculous, I know, but it was just a week or so ago that we were paying $1.72.

From there, I drove across the street to the Mat and did my cleaning. Washer #1 was still full of damp clothes, oh brother! Assuming again that it is campers who have moved on (?), I removed them, tossed them in the dryer and bagged them up.

This lunch was awesome!!
Leftover smoked sausage refried,
tomatoes, banana pepper and cheese on
a toasted English muffin.

That's over a week with no one coming back so I dropped them outside Rethreads for when they open tomorrow. I had one customer in while I was there so no hindrance but also no conversation. Oh, and no dime from Daddy today. 🤷‍♀️ First in a while.

I watered them and collected what 
was ready.

Back home, Gibbs and I did the vegetable garden check and I came down the hill with another bundle of tomatoes. Pretty soon I'll be able to make a tomato soup! I'm enjoying their fresh taste though, so not complaining. 

Well, I thought he was with me.
Nope, sitting in the shade, guarding.

I don't make salsa nor my own tomato sauce so eating them 'as is' or fried in my wraps works for me. It has been mostly cloudy all day but warm and warmer as the day progresses. Robin touched base, ordering a card for a girlfriend and chatted about what Bill could do this week.

Then, I sat at my table and prepared book marks and more cd coasters. Kay, in Chicory Common offered to put those items in her store. She really liked the idea so it's worth a shot and I will make more for over the winter.

I thought more would sell at The Bookstore last winter but 2 cards and 1 bookmark just didn't make it worthwhile leaving them. It could be the same here but she wants to try. I planned meatballs for supper but wasn't sure what to do with them until just before Bill got home.

He came up the lane with Billy 1 minute after Gibbs and I got back inside from getting the mail. It was 3:30 so a bit early. They are beginning the drywall process so not fun and very time consuming. While he had a snooze with Gibbs, I started preparing rice and a pot of beans, peppers, onion. Madame IP was cooking tonight.

Surprisingly, the concoction I put together was very good! It also filled us, bonus, and leftovers for another night. We ate early so he is ready when Robin messages. We cleaned up the dishes and I worked on my blog and Bill made his lunch.

It has turned into a lovely day, the humidity seems to have vanished late this afternoon and a great breeze is coming in the windows. 25.5C/78F was our high so pretty close to perfect. We could get rain/storms overnight but it doesn't look or feel like it.
