Enjoying the Last ‘Nice Weather Day’ for Now

On Sunday, Apr. 16^th we were up early enough for it being a non-travel day. I believe it was 7am and that is probably going to be the norm for a couple of weeks until we start with our jobs. I messaged Gayle, across the lot, to see if they would be ready to go with us to Costco around 9 and that plan was formed. 😊 Just a few things are needed in both households – famous last words!

This is a new store, maybe a month since opening (?), and the busiest I have EVER seen a Costco. The parking lot is always full whenever we’ve gone to one of these stores but we separated and took about 30 minutes to load our carts and meet at the checkout line. Most stations were manned, if not all, but the line of customers went across/down from one end to the other, down the last aisle around the corner and back up the whole length of the next aisle. Wow!

So, this is my special purchase

Surprisingly, it moved quickly and we were out an hour after we entered. Not bad at all. A friendly cashier was the icing on the cake. 😉 Of course, we left with more in our cart than we’d planned but are stocked up and pleased with our purchases. I, especially, am tickled with one item I bought. I debated whether to leave it for another time but with Costco’s reputation, it may not be there and it was on for a reduced price. Pictures above tell the story.

Back home, G & J left before noon for a lunch date with friends in the city and Bill and I settled in with our books. What a great surprise when Cory and Charlotte drove up at noon for a visit! We caught up inside, with Gibbs being typically affectionate (whether they want it or not!), and had a great conversation for close to a couple of hours. Thank you so much for popping around and the information you provided for us ‘older’ folks. ♥

We dozed and read our books in the afternoon after having a snack to tide us over until supper. Bill’s (and now mine) cousin, Rick and Joan, invited us for a barbecue so we left at 5 to their lovely new home in the Orchard Park area of London. After a tour, we sat with drinks and appetizers outside on their deck. That’s when the rain started, lightly, and we moved inside.

We had such a wonderful visit, promising to do it more often, the meal was perfect topped off with a ‘you want to but shouldn’t have two pieces’ Coconut Rum cake.  I’m going to have to get her to send me the recipe. 😊 Bill and Rick had laughs as they reminisced about the ‘good ole days’ with Joan and I filling in here and there. It was a great evening but we had to get back to Gibbs so left at 8:45.

I was spoiled when Joan sent me home with some garden daffodils (they smell fine!) and 4 beautiful puzzles. Oh, and some of the cake for another meal. ♥

Needless to say, with some gin and wine in this gal, I was too tired to write my blog post but I did manage to finish my Exit Wounds book before going to bed around 10. It was a perfect day!
