At 10 pm, Oct. 15th, Bill and I were called up to Rockwood Terrace. Mom passed peacefully with a few nurses standing over her two minutes before we arrived. I didn't want to amend my earlier post, this deserved to be all on its own.
Mom's family, children, spouses, 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren will all miss her presence. I'm glad I got a late afternoon visit with her and held her hand. Secretly, maybe she was just waiting for us to 'leave her alone' so she could take the trip. 😁
We love you Mom. Safe travels and say hello to Daddy and Bruce!
She is at peace now. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family,-Mary

ReplyDeleteYou can tell your Mom was a special lady by just looking at those daughters she raised. You can tell she was loved and honored. A family unit like this is not common anymore. When I read your sister's weekend posts it warmed my heart and made me sad at the same time. Take care Patsy. Kelly

DeleteI am so sorry. Even when it’s expected, it can still pack quite a gut punch.
ReplyDeleteI must say though,as a woman who only has brothers, that I marvel at how you & your sisters lined up & worked like a team to keep watch over her passing & spend her last days together as a family. That’s something for you all to step back & cherish, because the bonds you girls share with each other today are the ones that she nurtured - they may be your Mom’s enduring & most valuable legacy to each of you & I suspect she trusted they'd bring you much comfort now. ❤
Thank you leilani. You're right, it was a special but sad moment when I saw she was at peace. :( I do cherish my sisters and the moments we all have together are special because of who we are - thanks to Mom.
