A Quiet Day, Feeling C-c-c-cold!

 CanAm RV Centre

On Saturday, Oct. 21st we were almost down to counting hours rather than days although I will say this is our last full day in Canada. We’ve been fortunate with a number of things, one of which is being able to see quite a few friends and family members. Our hearts are full. The weather has changed on us, not sure how much of a decline it will take today but we woke up to a chilly, cloudy 7C/46F. I had a hard time getting warmed up today so we ran the furnace off and on before hooking up our Blue Flame heater again.

Because our funds were freer than we thought
they'd be, we finally purchased a replacement
Carbon monoxide/propane detector.

We have had 3 busy days in a row so today is going to be a quiet one. Other than topping Black Beauty up with fuel, we’re not going anywhere. 😊 It’s a break before the ‘big’ day. It was around 9:45 when Bill’s oldest daughter, Yvonne, texted that they were on their way from Tavistock for a visit. I’m so happy that we were able to see all of our 6 children recently for that end of year farewell. It means a lot.

Bill picked up the new one in
CanAm's store

He set to work this morning
installing it.

It didn't take him long at all
and now we're safe again. 😉

Yvonne and Dennis arrived by 10:30 and we had a great chat, catching up on their activities and relaying some of ours as well. More hugs and they left shortly after 12 .  I hadn’t eaten so we had a bite to eat. They declined our meagre offer of soup for lunch as they had things going on too. I made my quesadilla and Bill opted for his regular sandwich.

Gibbs isn't in this picture with
Yvonne and Dennis but he barely
left them alone. 💗
They didn't seem to mind, they have
2 dogs of their own.

This afternoon, I wanted to free up some space in the freezer so thawed 2 pks of apple slices and made another apple crisp. It turned out well the last time and being a keto recipe except for the oatmeal, it is a guilt-free dessert. Bill drove into the nearest fuel station and topped up our tank. I made egg salad sandwiches for our lunch tomorrow and took stock of what vegetables we have left in the fridge.

We were too full from supper to have any tonight
but it will be nice this week travelling.

For supper, we had a nice meal. 😊 I baked the last 3 Alaskan pollock filets, boiled some corn and Madame IP cooked the last 6 potatoes.  The meal cleaned up things that are ‘iffy’ for crossing the border like my last 2 red tomatoes, my last green pepper and green onions. They were good baked with the fish. We have leftover potatoes now and because they’re cooked, are no problem to take.

Yum. I think this should also be an entry
in a food magazine. It's lovely! Ha ha.

Bill cleaned up the pots and loaded the dishwasher and then walked the garbage over to the dumpster. I sat and made a list of what we have to ‘declare’ but there is nothing on there that we are concerned about. We’ve done well eating things up this past couple of weeks. I also prepared my travel book for the upcoming months. In it I record every expense we have and I also checked off the last items on my list of things to do. 😊

Yes, I washed the windows
and boiled the eggs.
Even though they aren't crossed off here.

This was a nice peaceful day and it was nice to see the last of our children. The cool weather outside is telling us 'it is time' so we aren’t about to argue. That’s okay as there is a virus going round and we caught it. It is called HITCH ITCH!

At the end of our winter away, I tally up totals
for each category and compare.
Good night y'all!

Thank you for stopping in. Your comments are always welcome and I read them as quickly as time allows.
