How Resourceful are We? How Fortunate? Very!

On Monday, Oct. 23 we woke up on the couch bed. Huh? Well, Bill is wearing a shirt that Bridgette and Chris gave him for his 70^th birthday and this is what it says. ‘When Life Throws you a Curve, Lean into it’.

That’s what we’re doing. 😊 Gibbs can’t understand what’s going on, we had to lift him on the low bed, he kept sitting on the step looking up at where the bed is/should be.

The bed is not comfortable, God bless our friends and family who have slept on it for more than one night. LOL We did sleep relatively well though after Bill walked with me in to Walmart at 10:30 to use the facilities. Kind of feeling a bit ‘homeless’ now! 😊 After our supper, I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up 2 toothbrushes, a tube of toothpaste and 2 gender appropriate deodorants. Ours are in the unreachable bathroom with the toilet!

Bill and Gibbs were up at 6:30 but I didn’t want to get up until closer to 7 so I could run across the lot to the store when it opened. Bill put my mind at ease and brought in the red pail. It came in handy and saved me having to wash up before visiting the store washroom. We had some breakfast and then I went in to Walmart for a comb for each of us and a new cheap top. Aah, that felt so much better! There was a Goodwill store, a nice one by the looks of it, beside the Dollar Tree but I wasn’t in the mood last night. ☹

We were on the road at 8, driving BACK towards Elkhart/Howe/Nappanee. Before I go further, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your wishes and concerns. Especially to those of you, you know who you are, that were able to offer suggestions of rv dealers who may be able to help. Many rvs are manufactured in these areas so we should be in good hands and the hour and a half return trip should not be fruitless. You can read Bill’s blog with the details of his phone calls regarding where we ended up.

It's a beautiful drive, on some state highways and a few ‘questionable’ country roads. Each one of those turning into a positive route. It was a cool start to the day again, 2.5C/37F and we noticed quite a few areas with frost on the pumpkins/grass/windshields. By 10:15, we had arrived at Showalter RV Centre in Nappanee, Indiana – in the opposite direction. 😊 But, we’re here and we have a work order/ticket from Norco to send a mobile unit for repair. Fingers crossed.

We are in a spot on site with hydro and water hookup.

They have a few rv spots for us to park and hook up to power so that is all we could hope for right now. I walked into the building to take care of business after taking Gibbs out for his. It’s mostly gravel or pavement so he led me to where there was grass. He’ll have to get over that by the time we get to Quartzsite! Bill made us each a thermos of coffee this morning and we hadn’t opened them yet. Now was a good time.

We had a surprising text from our friends, Roland and Lori, this morning that their rv was in a shop in Elkhart, IN for some finishing ‘touches’. Why not meet since we were only 40 minutes apart? We always love seeing these guys and, often, it turns out to be happenstance. They were killing time before they could get into a motel so popped in before 1 for a great catch up visit. Having just recently lost their sweet little Schatzi, Gibbs tried to give them lots of comforting kisses. ♥

We’d decided to treat ourselves tonight, since we’ll be here for at least 2, maybe 3 evenings. The U.S.6 Diner is just down E. Market St., where we are, and that is where we went. It was quaint, not fancy, with one young waitress running the show. The food was great and prices were reasonable. Gotta love that! 😊 We were back home a few minutes after 7.

What a lovely warm evening! 61F/16C with an overnight low of 51F/10C. We are feeling much better tonight about the whole slide out thing, knowing that we aren’t left out to dry. Things should be taken care of by Wednesday.
