Pleasant Surprise, Pleasant Visits

CanAm RV Centre, London, ON

On Thursday, Oct. 19th we woke up in darkness. Blinds were closed so CanAm’s lights weren’t shining into the bedroom, which is nice. It’s safe if you’re out because of those lights but they don’t keep us awake inside. ๐Ÿ˜Š It is the first thing I do, look at the ceiling to tell the time. Bill had tucked the alarm/display clock in his dresser drawer before we moved yesterday and that’s where it still was. It was 10 to 7, so I knew I’d slept well and it was time to get moving.

Waiting isn't always easy for our pooches
but Gibbs soon settled down in my lap

We got word that the Suite could go in before 9 so we pulled slides in and all 3 of us moved inside to their waiting room.We had a nice chat with a nice lady, Karen, about travelling before her rig (Airstream) was ready to go. Bill left her with one of our cards when we said goodbye. We may see her down the road! It’s been known to happen. ๐Ÿ˜Š We decided around 10 to hop in Black Beauty and go for a tour to occupy our time.

Driving around this crazy city,
Gibbs was so well behaved. Not a peep
as he watched the traffic behind us. ♥

We weren’t 10 minutes down the road when Peggy called. Her info made our day! They’d removed one wheel from the Suite and found it well-greased and the brakes were looking fine so that was one job that didn’t need to be done. Yay!  That will save us a fair bit right there. They would work on the broken slide cable for the remainder of the day. We were feeling pretty good about the surprising news so carried on.

Driving in London now is never something we
look forward to, it's so busy but we do quite a bit
of reminiscing since we lived and worked here for 30+ years.
Seeing the amazon factory was something new.

Our first stop was at Rycor Countertop Systems on Clarke Rd. where my son, Patrick, works. After a quick visit with my working lad, a couple of hugs and a hope to see you again before we leave and we let him get back to his job.We wanted to have one more visit with our friends, Jim and Sharon, in the same neck of the woods so took a chance without calling. We did manage to surprise them but at least not get them out of bed!  They loved meeting Gibbs, the little ham.

Gibbs didn't sit still for long anywhere,
but when he was beside Jim, I tried to get a snapshot.
I didn't succeed too well though.

It was lunchtime when we left after a coffee and hugs so drove to the closest A & W for our Uncle burger combos.

Lunch filled us

We ate in the truck and then drove to see Jess, Bill’s daughter, and had a nice little visit with her. She is doing okay, and, although challenging, is getting through things. Cleaning out her mom’s apartment wasn’t an easy thing to do but as I’ve said before, she is strong. When we left there, we headed back to CanAm, fingers crossed that our home was outside. It wasn’t yet, so we went in to the wait room and made yet another new acquaintance. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Gibbs finally crashed while visiting with Jess

A cute picture of Jess and her Dad

Tom and his wife are new to this lifestyle having come from Colorado solely to have CanAm’s staff ‘outfit/remodel’ their office version Airstream and to get some info from Andy about hitches. It will be a working trailer for them as they travel around the states. It would be nice to see him down the road too! Bill left him with one of our cards. We had a surprise visit from our good friends, Marlene and Benno, as they were driving back from Mississauga. She reads my blog so knew where we were. How great to see them!

Driving back to the shop, we passed the
condos on Chapman Court where we lived for 5 years.
We were second in from the left.

After saying goodbye to them (we may see them in AZ if the timing is right) another good friend, Keith, popped in for a visit. It was perfect timing as our Suite was moved outside around the same time. ๐Ÿ˜Š We moved into our home for the remainder of his visit. Gibbs is quite fond of Keith and it looks like feelings are mutual. The little guy has had a lot of excitement today so will sleep well tonight.

One more colourful picture
for Payson48. ๐Ÿ˜€

We only had mushroom soup and toast for supper after such a big lunch and that was quite enough. We’ve had a busy day and a full day with friends and family. Our Suite is outside with all work completed so we’ll just stay put for a few nights to finish things in London before pulling out. The weather changed during the afternoon from a pleasant 17C/62F earlier to a cooler, wetter 10C/51F by evening. We feel zonked for some reason and will also sleep well tonight.

Good friends, all 3 of them!
Good night!
(PS, Keith, are you packed yet)

Thank you for catching up on today’s activities!

  4. Everytime I see the King Ranch insignia on your pickup it brings back memories of when I worked with the ranch in South Texas. The design comes from the Santa Gertrudis River winding thru the ranch. Quite a ranch indeed, 825,000 acres in one chunk!
