Don’tcha Love Surprises? Good Ones, I Mean

Showalter RV

On Tuesday, Oct. 24th we woke up after a pretty good sleep around the same time. Not sure who was first, Bill or Gibbs, but when I opened my eyes they were back inside and it was almost 6:30. I was in no hurry to get up, just because it was still dark, so it was 7:30 when I crawled out from under the covers. We’ve no real reason to complain, we slept quite well, even with the train whistle. 😊

Our temporary bed
and the beautiful sunrise.

We had our cereal and I made my tea when I noticed the sunrise. It was a rare clear view for me so I had to run out and snap a photo. It was then that I noticed a Norco van pulling up to the bay doors. Bill didn’t have time to get washed before Michelle and Shawn from Showalter, as well as Chad from Norco knocked on our door. It was 8:20! They all 3 assessed the situation in order to come up with a solution on how to get the slide out.

Assessing the situ

Shawn is a 150-lb younger man who was able to slip in the 6” space between the slide-out and the bathroom door handle! That was truly a blessing as the rest of us had no hope of doing that. Bill will fill you in better (if you haven't seen his post yet) but all I know is that by 11:30, Norco Chad had us all fixed up with the cables and with a n/c farewell, was on his way. Bill and Shawn replaced all the woodwork across the top of the slide and at 11:45, he was also done. Within 3 hours, we were all fixed up with 100% satisfaction. 😊

On the left, the narrow opening that Shawn squeezed through.
Middle, see how thin he actually is?
Right photo, watching the little guy work and the supervisor
walking towards me.

The generosity of Chad not to charge us, coming from Elkhart, just blows me away. Both techs and Michelle were kind and very obliging. It was lunchtime so we decided to hang tight for another day and, after eating, went into town to get fuel, propane, cash and stamps. Back home, with the temperatures in the high 70’s/20’s, the Suite was warm. We’d slipped into shorts before we went.

It was funny the way he just sat there.
"Why were you hiding my bed from me?"
"I'm not moving"

Bill and I tucked Gibbs inside with a treat and walked inside to pay the bill and then take a peek at the 2 new Mobile Suites. This company has just recently began selling them. We oohed and aahed over the few changes but mostly because they were both 39’ & 40’. Doesn’t new always look brighter, cleaner and better in any case? Back in the trailer, we each had a cold drink and caught up on blogs. Yours and our new ones for today.

Getting propane and I enjoyed the scenery.
More red trees for someone!

These pictures had to go together.
The house is massive, old and being refinished. I love it!
The scary decorations should be on the front lawn on the left though.

We are feeling pretty good right now, being positive and calm paid off for us and we will be on our way tomorrow. Pretty sure it will be a Walmart tomorrow night although Bill’s route will change to a certain degree so we won’t know until he figures it out tonight. 😊 We’re going to go out again for supper tonight, either back at the U.S. 6 Diner or someplace new. Stay tuned!

Our tour just for fun.

looks like, here are the 39 & 40' models

I didn't say the price wasn't hefty.

So, since we couldn’t beat our meal last night in any way, we went back again. I had the ½ rack of ribs (too bad they didn’t sell ¼ racks!) and brought half of it home. The cheesy broccoli soup and mashed potatoes helped to fill me quickly.

soup and entree.
Black Beauty waits outside. The place was not
busy like it was last night.
Fast service and $36 to fill us.

It is such a lovely night. Gibbs and I went for a walk across the lot to the grassy area and he was able to run a bit on his retractable leash.

To the west and to the east

Some Gibbs fun on the grass.

It was a quite night. Again, we thank you all for the supporting comments and good wishes for our travel. So, surprise! Instead of a fix on Wednesday and departure on Thursday, we are raring to go! This was a G-R-E-A-T day! 😊

Beautiful - rain tomorrow though.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by!

  5. Glad Gibbs gets his bed back!!! Maybe you will all sleep better now. As for the new units ... who in the world wants to keep a WHITE trailer clean???? I mean it's pretty, but I'll vote for a wood finish every time.
