Park Place RV Park
On Thursday, Dec. 19th, I was awake at 5 am. I had asked Bill to wake me up at 6:30 but I knew that he wouldn’t have to. We had a bit of an exciting day ahead of us. Bill took Gibbs out for a couple of walks before 7 while I had my tea, cereal and got dressed. Duncan and Patty offered to drive today on our trip to Los Algodones for the day. 😊
On the drive along I-95S, I caught the
sunrise a few times. It kept hiding behind
the mountains on the horizon.
Beautiful!
We, Bill and I, were looking forward to a group gathering since we haven’t had one since before Covid. We met Ken, Kim, Deb and Riley at the parking lot right at the border aka ‘the Wall’.
This is the lot we park in for $10/day. We followed Israel, one of the Mexican greeters (for lack of a better word) to this Optical vendor for Duncan and Patty. |
I snapped this picture of the Wall before crossing into Los Algodones. |
It was a bit of shopping for glasses, blankets,
medications, signs and then LUNCH! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and with
our security cameras set up at home we were able to keep an eye on Gibbs. It was cute to see him either on the bed or up on the back of my chair. 💖
We did a lot of 'window shopping' but this place on the left,
always gives me a WOW! A true example of
Mexican colours full on. Gorgeous!
Bette was on duty in the park today but took him out a couple of times for us, in our absence. When we parted ways with our friends in the parking lot, they went back to their sites at Ogilby Rd and we drove into Yuma.
One of our favourite places to eat.
A stop at Home Depot, where Patty and I picked up a Poinsettia and then to Sam’s Club where we all picked up a few items, including a big bag of food for Gibbs. One last stop before leaving the city was at the fruit stand where I picked up more Pomelos and a large head of cauliflower for the Christmas potluck.
A Mango Margarita, 3 Chicken Enchiladas, rice and beans had me oohing and aahing at many mouthfuls. I loved it and cleaned my plate!! The Margarita was different, very tasty. |
We were
pulling into the park when we all saw Bette returning with 3 lead doggies
pulling her along. ♥ Gibbs was in the lead and to be
honest, once he saw us I don’t know why she didn’t end up on her keister! She’s
not a big lady by any means so as soon as I could, I took Gibbs’ leash off her
hands. We sure appreciate her and if the Poinsettia can remain outdoors, I will
be giving it to her as thanks. No way can it go in her ‘home’ with Kitty in
there.
It's great to get the gang back together!
Riley, Deb, Duncan, Patty, Patsy, Bill, Ken, Kim.
We didn’t
need supper so settled in for a quiet evening. I made a cup of tea, Bill
poured himself a Coke Zero and we called our friends, Jim and Sharon back in
London. We missed their call at noon today. It is always a pleasure to chat
with them, have a chuckle or two (at Jim’s expense, sorry Jim!) and be able to
wish them a Merry Christmas. That was better than a Christmas card (which I
didn’t send) any day! 😊
Nothing too exciting here at Sam's Club
except for my Sweetie checking our
items through.
A wonderful day!
We
reached a high of 77F/25C here in the Q and a high of 80F/27C in Mexico and
Yuma. Lovely clear day!
I feel compelled to add this now!
Good night!
Thank you
for your visit.
A very full day spent with friends.
