Yard and Craft Sale, Desert Happy Hour

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Dec. 7th I was up around 7. This morning, I had planned on a walk and then a trip to the QIA (Quartzsite Improvement Association). Bill was in the shower when I finished making the bed so because I couldn’t wash right away, I decided to forego the walk. Instead, I made my tea, had some Pomelo and yogourt and relaxed until Bill and Duncan left for the field in his car.

Good morning!

He trotted along today

I took Gibbs for his walk around the park and then hopped in Black Beauty around 8:30. The QIA is not far from here so it only took me a few minutes to arrive and get parked. I had a good spot but the lot was filling up fast! My first stop was at Jess’s Paper Monger booth outside. If you are interested, you can check her out on Etsy. 😊 She has such a great set up showing off her wares.

This is Jess and her paper quilling booth.
Such amazing stuff she has created.

I wanted to support her and since I love her stuff, bought 2 pair of quilled earrings and a greeting card. I went inside and wandered through the vendors home made crafts. Some are very impressive, most actually, but I only picked up a few things in the lower price range. Christmas brooches, a kitchen towel, and a gift for Bill.

Outside were the tables of the many yard sales. A lot of these were antique-y things, some junk and other things that brought back a ton of memories. 😊 One quick goodbye to Jess and I was on my way home by 10. I enjoyed the sales, chatting with people and just being out and about in general. I appreciate that Bill let me take Black Beauty for the morning.

Inside the QIA, there were
a lot of vendors

Bill and I hung at home until noon when I made us toasted bacon and cheese sandwiches. They were good and hit the spot. I walked over to work on the puzzle and it was 2:15 when Patty invited me for a walk around the small block. Gibbs and I were happy to go along. That is the farthest the little bum has walked in a long time and it helped to bring my low step count almost to my goal for the day.

Not too many pieces left,
maybe in the morning I will finish it.

After our walk, we loaded our chairs and coolers with refreshments in the Sharp’s car and drove to Tyson Wash BLM. Ken and Kim invited us out (or did we invite ourselves?) for Happy Hour to their new location and we found them easily with their straight-forward directions. 😊 It is always fun to get together with our friends and today was no exception. It was 5:30 or so when we said goodbye.

Happy Hour

We watched a para glider go over.
The vote was mixed as to who would like
to take a ride. Count me in!

The sun sets behind the mountains

Back home, I cooked chicken pot pies (not homemade) with mixed vegetables for supper. We used to eat them years ago, in our working days but have not had them for a long time. This turned into a delicious meal and clean up was really easy! We watched a Christmas movie together while I worked on my blog.

Para gliders, happy hours, and
the Indian slept through the whole thing.

I’ve had a good day and we’ve had another warm day. It felt warmer than 75F/24C because there was hardly any breeze. Beautiful!

Supper was good!
I had popcorn for dessert - kind of.
Good night!

Thank you for taking the time to check us out.

  1. Quilling looks so cool and fun - lots of swirls, lol. Got to love a pot pie. Nice sundowner action.

  2. Oh, I bet the area with the homemade crafts was fun. My problem would be finding more potential crafts to try (and spend money on).
I'm envious of the shorts weather! We've more snow here today.

  3. Quilling is something I tried many moons ago. I might have to try it again. It seems to be an almost lost art. Those craft fairs ... how fun!! A good way to spend the day.

    1. I like to see the crafter's wares but the prices have to be high to pay for their time and materials. Too pricey for me, usually.

  4. The Crafters are where the unique gifts are found.
Seems like Gibbs is recognizing Quartzsite as his second home.
Always fun getting together with friends.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  5. I'm putting this info here to pass along. The flowers I sent came from oliveandrosestudios.com and the lady's name is Stephanie. They deliver to Huron Hospice. I looked for your email address, Doug & Yuma, I'm not on facebook. Didn't want to comment on your blog if you don't check it and I've seen you comment on Patsy's blog. Thanks to Steve for offering computer services and Hazel down the road for maybe being the one to get the plowing done. I didn't see a site for Bayfield Pines, maybe they're on Facebook, to let them know and to help keep Al plowed out. Maybe someone did. You never know, he might need a snowmobile or tractor ride if the weather is bad. Love to you all! Barb in FL

  6. Freezing rain here with snow to follow later this evening. Not going to be nice driving tomorrow that's for sure. I love craft sales, but like Maebeme I usually have to take the idea home and I really do not need to start a new hobby.

    God bless.

    1. They are pricey, the craft items but you are both handy enough to make your own. :) Good idea IF you needed some more hobbies!
