Finally, Some Christmas Shopping! 😊

Pilot Knob RV Resort, Winterhaven, CA So, on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd we had plans again. This time a trip into Yuma Palms mall for some shopping – for each other and Gibbs. We don’t buy much for each other but kids at ♥, it’s fun to fill stockings just in case Santa can’t find us way down here! I’ve done it for years, filling both (all) but more recently, Bill has been picking up the slack so that I am also surprised on Christmas morn.
The day once again started out cloudy. It is always interesting to see what's going on behind P.K. mountain
You can see in this picture, how fast the little guy moves and why I like the retractable leash
Show everyone what you found today, Gibbs, He brings the bottles home proudly and we just throw them out because he eats them. After Gibbs and I went for our walk and Bill and I having a bite to eat at 8:30, we first went to pet Smart. Gibbs needs new toys and chewys. Things don’t last long when he gets hold of them. 😊 Since we were at the mall with my favourite store, Bill scooted me off into Ross. I told him I don’t like wandering when he is waiting but he encouraged me to go and take my time – so I did. Well, not too much time really.
Coming back from Yuma, the Mexican workers are hard at harvesting the vegetables along the highway I poked a bit and found a pair of the shoes that I love as they were on my list this year and then I poked a bit more perusing the huge selection of ladies’ tops. A red dressy top was what I was looking for and, happily, I found one. I could have spent at least an hour in this store, easily, and much more than what I did in 15 minutes but not today. It’s a store to go to with a girlfriend and with time to kill but I appreciated this visit all the same.
A little packet of goodies and a card from Diane and Don
I was inspired by Diane's gift to make the fudge recipe We drove down to Target which was a bit of a disappointment for me. I found the prices to be just fine but I couldn’t find anything special for my sweetie. He had success, apparently, and then we drove to Hobby Lobby. Another favourite store and they always have such great deals of 40 and 50% off so we split up and wandered around. I found a couple of things for Bill and a couple of things that can go under the tree. That was enough so we returned home by noon hour. 😊 Of course, I can't show you what we bought. You have to wait until Christmas like we do! Gibbs is already sniffing the cupboard where Daddy/Santa hid his gifts.
Pancakes and mini sausages were our luncheon meal and after dishes, I changed into my swimsuit and walked up to the pool. It wasn’t open yet so I asked Josh to open it up (he got right on it) and in the meantime, I worked on the puzzle for a few minutes. The sun was out and hot so the water felt wonderful. I did more than 3 laps today (F.G. will be pleased about that!) and was in and out a couple of times.
I took these two pictures of the goodies on their plates in the fridge and added an effect from my Samsung By 3, the flies and the clouds had me covering up and heading for home. Bill and Gibbs were upstairs and didn’t hear me come in. I can’t usually sneak up on Gibbs but he was sound asleep. ♥ I had a shower to get some moisture back into my dry skin after the pool and then made a cup of tea. Our friend, Diane, brought us a Christmas card and a couple of home baked squares. How sweet!
the tenderloin are just the right size for individual servings
Behind my Russian Babushka dolls is our 2nd Christmas card from back home. Thanks Charlotte! It spurred me on to make the chocolate fudge recipe from Lori. It’s always nice to have a plate full of goodies at Christmas. Good for a few pounds for sure! Ha ha. I started my blog and then sat with my book until it was time to start supper. At 6, Bill lit the Weber Q and grilled our 2 bacon wrapped tenderloin. I cooked corn and cauliflower inside along with giving the potatoes a jump start in the microwave. He reheated those with butter in foil.
I'm glad the potatoes and veggies were good. Some people can eat their beef 'nearly raw' but it made us feel queasy. No thank you. I can’t say it was the best meal because the tenderloin was not cooked enough for our liking. At first, it seemed okay so it was too late to relight the bbq and put them on for longer but we followed directions and know for the next time, that it wasn’t enough. Even our meat thermometer didn’t help. The veggies, potatoes and my fudge for dessert were all delicious! I kept half of my tenderloin to throw on the bbq tomorrow night.
Now the dessert?? A big YES! Thanks Lori After dishes, Gibbs crashed on the floor. He is quite the little fluff ball these days, in need of a hair cut badly. He is feeling the heat, especially being as active as he is when he’s inside and out. 😊 We can’t get him in until Dec. 30th for his cut so only 8 more days. The evening was typical, some tv, blog writing (which is still a pain with the blogger changes) and relaxing together. This was a good day, that pool felt wonderful!
Our fur baby sleeps Good night! Thank you for your visit today. ♥

  1. peanut butter and chocolate is always a yes if you can't find butterscotch. Glad the fudge made the cut. That is moms recipe so I feel she earned the 2 thumbs up!

  3. That Gibbs cracks me up ... carrying bottles around. They do have good noses ... Cooper already found his gift and barks at the cupboard every morning asking for it early! Your pancakes and sausage look delish!! As for the steak, well the more pink the better for me ... it's most tender. How to tell when it's more done? Push down a little on the top. If it's squishy, it's rare. If it's like your palm, it's medium and if it's like the back of your hand, it's well done. It's the tap test! LOL. You are going to have a great Christmas!!

    1. Gibbs cracks us up too but he is still a little imp! haha I have wraped a bag of goodies for his little girlfriend, Gabby, and had to put it in a ziplock baggie because he could smell it on the counter. :)
Good hint on the steak! A wee bit pink is okay but this made us queasy. :(

  4. Gerry and I don't usually buy for each other but decided this year to do just that. Christmas morning will have some surprises this year. Your fudge does look good. Maybe you could send the recipe? Gibbs is like a kid looking for gifts ahead of time. Cute!

    1. I think it is fun to open stockings and now that Bill fills mine, much more exciting for me too! Although I do like the giving part too.
Gibbs is indeed like a kid. I know you've made the fudge by now, hope you enjoy it.

  5. I don't like my beef rare; I do prefer it to be medium but I understand that not everyone likes it that way.

I wonder what's happening with your Blogger. There haven't been any changes on my version. Hope it reverts for you.

Sounds you will all have fun on Christmas morning. Enjoy the sun!

    1. Medium well is perfect for us but medium with a bit of pink is ok.
Blogger doesn't seem like it will revert back. When I post a picture, I get the html version and have to check Preview to check that it comes through. Weird but I'm getting used to it, it just takes longer.
