Time to Change it Up, More Neighbours (oh goody)

La Posa South, Quartzsite, Az On Friday, Jan. 21st we were all up together at 7:30. It was a clear morning, very calm but a cool 40F/5C when Gibbs and I went out for our walk. It was a good, refreshing walk and when we came home, Bill and I had cereal and Gibbs had his breakfast too. With a forecast of 68F/20C we were looking forward to another great day.
The only thing on our agenda was a haircut for me at 11:30. Bill was going to go in with me but we had an upset this morning which changed that. Just when things seem to be going along smoothly our generator kept quitting so Bill needed to get to the bottom of the problem. It must be our turn. ☹ At 10:45, I took Black Beauty into Quartzsite for the first time ever. I need to get used to it.
Disc golf anyone? Um, no thanks.
Gibbs has to sniff the piles of rocks, this one made him nervous as he approached because it was so big. It was quite busy at the big rig dump and water stations as I passed, plus the blue boy dumping station had a lineup of about 7. When I approached the main gate, it was also getting jammed up with big rigs, many Integra Class A’s for their rally, plus every other rv you can think of. 😊 The area is filling up at the front for sure but I still walk by a lot of large empty areas. That just makes it harder to understand the need to park close to each other.
Everything looks better in sunlight.
This picture includes the neighbours who pulled in last night. Just a few feet beyond where Nancy parked in our group. I made it to Sandra ‘D’’s hair salon by 11:15 and when I saw one lady leave, I walked in early. Bill and I had showered this morning so I told her I just needed my hair wet before cutting. I showed her a picture of the length I wanted and let her have at it. We got along really well and when I didn’t think she was taking enough off, asked her to not be afraid to make it shorter. She did exactly as I asked and when she’d ‘moussed’ it up, I was very happy with the result. I liked her a lot.
My hair is so fine, that I needed to get rid of the bottom few inches to reduce the 'scraggle'.
Sandra rents from the Beef Jerky guy who owns the buildings. This is out front of the shops.
Town was filling up and my only saving grace with traffic was that her shop is on Main, not the busy Keuhn St, which is always jam-packed with shoppers at Tyson Wells. 😊 I was home by 12:15 and got a thumbs up (not literally) from Bill. It feels so much better being up off my neck and the cut and layering helped bring out the remainder of my early November perm.
Quite a difference and I love it! I was starving when I got home, I don’t know why, so immediately made us toasted egg omelette buns for lunch. They were delicious! The rest of the day was a lazy as could be. The unfortunate news though is that our generator will not stay running so Bill will have to find a repair shop in town one day this week. We have renewed our stay for the next 2 weeks, of which we’ll only stay 10 days before moving on, so a generator is pretty necessary for watching evening tv. Anyway, we’ll see what plays out.
My bun got squished in the drive home from grocery shopping the other day so I had it open faced. Our neighbours that pulled in last night, with their toy hauler patio extended and 3 dogs, have friends that arrived this afternoon. Two more 5th wheels and a truck camper have made the area even more congested. They aren’t facing us so we’re going to see what the evening brings and try not to notice. Gibbs has been amazing today, not a lot of barking, seemingly unbothered by them except when their 2 large dogs (all dogs must be leashed at all times) came over to our site. ☹
Daddy took a picture of Mom so Gibbs had to pose too. ♥ For supper tonight, I had large Italian meatballs out and cooked them on the stove in a skillet with a couple of potatoes and veggies. There will be no appliances used tonight. Our batteries are way up at 5:30 but once that sun drops below the horizon, they drop as well. Supper was good, all cooked on the stove. That’s rare. The meatballs took a long time in the skillet but, once I sliced them open they finished cooking.
We are at least grateful that these 4 rigs are facing the other direction. They have a fire going tonight, enjoying themselves but with windows closed we can't hear them. After dishes, we relaxed some more with our books. Good thing we both have good stories to read! This was a good day and the show starts tomorrow so we’re ready for that. I hope you’ve enjoyed your Friday too.
Because I'm sure Nancy and Tom miss this sound, I included a short video.
Good night everyone! Thank you for the visit today.

  1. So we found a nice place over hear and so far no dust...🌞 What is not great is the internet signal. Cannot believe they parked that close. Sorry to read about your generator problem. It took a bit but the video of Gibbs finally opened, Tom laughed.
There is plenty of room on this pad to social distance if you want to come over this way.

    2. Thanks Deb. Glad to hear you got a nice dust free spot. We hope you are both feeling better. R and R is the best medicine sometimes.
Bill said if we hadn't just paid our 40$ maybe we should move over there but we want to see how quiet they are.
Thank you, I'm very happy with my new mop.☺

  2. I don't think I've ever seen your hair that long. But the haircut looks awesome. I love it! It's interesting the ways you adapt when the generator stops working. We've been there. Hopefully the generator situation will be a quick fix. Take care....Elva

  3. Just a thought, my 4K Onan Gennie, which is too loud would not start last summer..This was just b/4 a 2 week trip @ Lake Kachess. I had a plan since because of fires no campfires were allowed. I had made many meals all ready for the micro...A great part time neighbor loaned me his Honda 2000 which had been sitting for 5 yrs.
So my sis & I were in like ..Flin?..
Since then I got a real swell deal on a Honda 2300 (quiet)..Home Depot)...
They are small & light weight..I'm just a double back-up person and it was swell this last summer..
I'm heading out this next spring or summer no matter what!..Getting older by the year and running out of time..eh?
    Safe & Fun travels!!

    1. Sounds like you did make a wise choice having a back up. If it wasn't for us having to find room for it, not a bad move. 😉
We are all getting older and we believe never slow down until we have to!

  4. That Gibbs is quick to bark. Both cuts look great but I do like long blonde hair. With these warm days though the new cut must feel nice. Sorry you are now alone and strangers are encroaching.

    1. Yes, he is a barker.
Bill likes it long too but my hair gets too wispy and he understands my need for a cut. He has no choice like i don't in his hair cuts!

  5. Ahh I love the sound of Gibbs. Cooper jumped right up looking for him! Sorry your genny went on the fritz. Hopefully Bill can get it repaired. I think I would tell those people they need to leash their dogs. Doesn't matter how friendly they are. Love your hair .....

    1. I thought you would enjoy hearing him. 😉
We'll have to find a repair shop for small engines or all cooking will be in mid afternoon.
If the dogs come again, We'll have to say something. Didn't want to get in the wrong side because we go out to often. If you get my drift.
Thank you, the haircut is quite a change.

  9. Your hair looks great! I almost never drive our truck during the winter so I'm always a little nervous when I take it out for the first time at home, but it all comes back pretty quickly.

    1. Thankyou, I'm loving the shorter hair. I do love driving our truck at home but always felt nervous during the winters here. Silly really but usually we go everywhere together so there was no need.

  10. Nice hair cut.
It always amazed us that with all the land to park they always park close to your location.
Hope Bill gets the generator going on his own.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

Us too, it must be people who live close together back home. Generator worked tonight so that's a sigh of relief on a dull day.
